ResToons Posted yesterday at 05:41 PM Posted yesterday at 05:41 PM I am curious has anyone started test farming +5s? I’m curious if Brutes would be able to. I’m not so sure if tanks could handle the Damage. Any thoughts? Infinity Server Main: Resolution Mind/rad troller SG: Hell's Army
Troo Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago hint: it may not necessarily be incoming damage that has the largest impact. "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Si vis pacem, para bellum
lemming Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Yea, I think incoming damage won't be as much of an issue as clear speeds (if you're into that) That said, I haven't checked any of my farm stuff at +5. I need to go thru and tweak things anyway on my farms.
ResToons Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I would think +5 exp would be better even with slower clears. I really need to get on Beta. Infinity Server Main: Resolution Mind/rad troller SG: Hell's Army
Plutoria Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Should be doable on brute at 5/8, I've done solo clears ( not boxing 2 accounts) with a few dom, sent, scrapper, stalker, MM and corr builds I was playing around with. Control /debuffs powers are less effective naturally, and your personal damage output is a bit lower, The "feel" is almost like playing +4/8 on a fresh 50 without level shift with regards to damage output and incoming taken. Using a high dps dom build with a demon/dark MM as auto follow support, the pacing felt much better at +5, things still die and but they don't evaporate like 4/8. On topic of control powers, hard CC like holds/stuns/immob felt more slippery while soft control powers (KD/confuse/deep sleep/fear stacking) were more reliable. Overall, I like the +5 option. With regards to damage output, it was a noticeable change using solo builds that relied on proc damage, as the procs (without heavy -res to toss around) felt less effective compared to higher raw dps builds. Basically, your procs types will matter a bit more, the warshade werewolves in council missions are going to be tickled by your smashing/Neg/lethal procs without -res assistance. For the melee characters I was using Ice melee and SJ and armor types, psi, ea, dark, shield.
JediDave Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I'd think with slower clear times, it will depend on if you're doing active farming or if you're afk farming, and if afk, how often do you check back in to reset. If you go afkk for 10 minutes, but it's cleared in 5, that clear time going up to 9:59 makes no difference. A lot of other variables to be sure, but I think this one might be overlooked.
Ukase Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I did take two brutes into the AA asteroid farm. One brute was spines/fire, the other was rad/fire. The rad/fire had atomic smash on auto, and the spines/fire had burn. I'd thought about the other AoE because of the increased targets, but the damage wasn't enough to suit me. Both survived, but accuracy was an issue because I had dropped leadership as it wasn't necessary for afk-farming. Helpful, but not necessary. With a boost in accuracy, the speed was as you might expect, slower. To me, even though I afk farm when I do farm, all I'm after is the drops, that's where the money is. So, to me, it was more about my curiosity. You'll need to do some math and generate a touch more accuracy/toHit, and probably increase your regen a smidge. Other than that, most of you should be fine.

I’m not so sure if tanks could handle the Damage. Any thoughts? As others have mentioned, the additional incoming damage is comparatively small. The survivability threshold for AFK-Farming survivability is rising from ~35HP/Sec to (35/1.33*1.44) = ~38HP/Sec and my AFK-Farming Brutes are well over that already. The trick is gaining enough Accuracy/ToHit to cap your hit rate against +4s instead of +3s (assuming you're Level 50+1 fighting level 55s) whilst maintaining optimal DPS. In short; yes it's doable. Although I'd advise on not finalizing your Farming Build tweaks until after the next patch hits. As CPH put it: "Just you wait till you see the panel 2 content... you going to lose it."

Especially considering that XP & Inf rewards don't seem to be higher for level 55 vs 54 mobs. (It's known and will be addressed) 1
