Ukase Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM I just wanted to say how impressed I am. Years ago, during retail, the population was probably much larger. But because of the way Paragon did things, the folks that were around in Issue 1 were always going to have a few more badges than the folks (like me) who came in later. I got Very Naughty badge...was completely unaware HC had posted an update to the patch to include the winter stuff. I didn't see (and still don't prior to maintenance) anything about the Lord Winter trial, or Baby New Year or Snaptooth missions. So, when I clicked on this one present and got "very naughty", I was very surprised, had no idea it was in game. I was sure I was the only person that had it! Blissfully ignorant, I suppose. I immediately pop over to Pocket D to take first place...only to discover that there's over a dozen that got it before me. And there's probably well over 100 players that have every badge in game (or at least will as soon as they log in to discover there's are new ones to be had) I think that's pretty amazing. There was a time when badging wasn't much of a focus for many players. But now, it seems like half the players are in pursuit of all the badges! Pretty good work, folks. Keep at it. 3
lemming Posted yesterday at 03:03 PM Posted yesterday at 03:03 PM 1/2 those people are Voltor. (I kid!) I'm toying with spinning up a second badger, but probably just going to go with a non-focused approach for a lot of it. Doing all the content, holiday stuff as they happen, and then seeing what needs filling in. The new badge tracking ability is incredibly handy. 2
Ukase Posted yesterday at 05:50 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:50 PM So, I just left Voltor after I think it was 6 runs, maybe 7 of the Lord Winter trial. I still, if motivated, could see taking another dozen through the paces...but then I think about the truly tedious..1000 citizens in mayhem missions. And the ones where you're ultimately dependent on a league of fairly competent players, like Avoids the Green Stuff, and the ones where RNG is a factor...the nightmares from the MoM trial, I think it's dreamwalker for heroes. And of course, "Doesn't look at Explosions". I was lucky to get that last one, as I was like pug #7 on an 8 man team. I know a few players who run the 4* constantly that would probably carry me through. (literally via incan) on a few more of the alts. But I look at some of them - great for all around content. Not so great for content where super high dps is a big plus. The procs - the same powers that these guys say to proc, I proc 'em and they don't dish out consistently more dps than a standard set. And yeah, that's relying on global recharge, with no recharge slotted in the powers. But that could just be a whole lot of mean RNG. No idea. But that's a different topic. I say all that to say this: for some personality types like mine, there's a tendency to lean into something like badging and plan your day around a given attempt. And I just don't think that's a good idea when I have all kinds of real world stuff that would serve me better. And even if I didn't, I'm still not sure revolving a day around a badge is a good idea. Log in, tease Snarky, praise a league leader who does well, find a bio that's good, and try to enjoy myself. What I don't want to do is find a path to efficiently get the same badge on the 3 accounts I'm allowed to have logged in at the same time when the population is low enough to allow it. I just want to play different set combinations - and then find the ones that are more fun than others. Right now, that's fire/earth blast, and also shield/MA tank. Who knows what it will be tomorrow? On the agenda is a Warshade, just to revisit it.
EmperorSteele Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago "tease Snarky" Now THAT should be worth a badge! Ps, if I wake up dead, we know who to blame! 1
