Net buff. Unstoppable went from 180s duration with 1000s recharge to 40s with 400s recharge. Or from about 18% uptime to 10%. Due to the cast time it also reduced the value of recharge a lit bit. So my highest recharge build goes from 62% uptime 34%. That's not a slight reduction in uptime, it's a 45% reduction.

I was going by the patch notes, which incorrectly stated the old duration as 120s. Uuniverse

Yeah, they've done that more than once. Force of Nature is 120s (and Strength of Will and One with the Shield). The older T9s are all 180s. The only change I'd class as "slight" is Meltdown, which lost about 20% uptime. Edited Tuesday at 12:08 AM by csr
Timeshadow Posted Tuesday at 12:14 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:14 AM Personally, I enjoy having distinctions between powersets. Provided they're not outright crippling, I think those differences make the game more interesting to play. What powersets are my teammates using? How does that impact what they can do and, by extension, what I should or shouldn't do while running with them? Maybe it's a hot take but I wish CoH did more to curtail player power and encourage strategic play. Being on a team that can overcome the vast majority of content simply by virtue of their stats is....kinda boring 👀💦 Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating for all T9s to be long duration powers with crashes. That obviously has a negative impact on whether players choose to take them or make any real use of them. All I'm saying is maybe there's room for some powers to have drawbacks, provided that can be implemented in a way that still feels fun and has relevance to the gameplay experience. 1 You wanna play Peacebringer?😒 Fine, but at least check out this guide first: Peacebringers STILL SUCK!!! Warshades Posted Tuesday at 02:49 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:49 AM Sounds like it might be time for some mutually exclusive T9 power options, that way players can choose if they want the long duration + crash or short duration and no crash. Just a thought. From a personal perspective, I do prefer the no crash change, but I do wish they kept the % uptime the same or relatively close. There are certainly cases where having a longer lasting T9 could be useful such as tanking LR while teammates deal with towers and such. 30-40 second duration are pretty low. 2
Glacier Peak Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM Quote from Captain Powerhouse on Open Beta regarding the crashing T9 changes: Note on the Crashing T9 power changes: We have decided to roll these changes back. At least at this point there are no plans to revisit them in the future. That of course might always be subject to change. This applies exclusively to the crashing T9 changes, so specifically: Energy Aura > Overload Invulnerability > Unstoppable Ninjitsu > Kuji-In Retsu Radiation Armor > Meltdown Shield Defense > One With the Shield Super Reflexes > Elude Willpower > Strength of Will Due to the holiday break, not sure when the rollback will be hitting the open beta server, so if anyone still wants to play around with the current versions for any reason you might have a few days to do so. Other changes to any of the sets those powers are in will likely continue testing and iterating and we will continue to gather feedback. Do note nothing is considered final until it reaches release candidate status. 1 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide!
