question regarding Superior MM IO's (and all purple 50 ios)

Quick question.  for level 50 purple IO's.  Should I get them Attuned?    Do they mentor down to low levels and still work?   If not then i should probably get them as regular 50 IO's then I can enhance them to higher levels. 

 

I've never really tried this.  So please advise.

Purples have always behaved as if they were attuned, their bonuses have always exemped down.  

 

So it's an emphatic NO to attuning purples.  Doing so has no benefit and actually has a downside - you're unable to + level them.

Crap, I've made a lot of bad mistakes!   Oh well. time to respec and put stuff on the AH and re-buy.

One more folow up.  do the level 50 orange sets work the same as as the purple?

Nope.  Purples and PVP IOs are the only "not attuned" IOs that exemp all the way down.  Orange sets are good candidates to attune (or purchase as attuned) so you can get the bonus down to where the set begins.
