No not 5 minute abs, it's even better than that! It's quick drawings done in under 10 minutes. It's so simple anyone can do it!

Take a topic from the thread, draw what comes to mind for 5-ish minutes, post your results here and pick a new topic.

Well before the thread disappeared into the ether we had:

Clockworks, PTA (Paragon Transit Authority) or trains/trams, Capes and Shields.

Originally this was a thread on the old 606 section of live called The Hot Pencil or THP started by Pyro Nympho.

The idea is to get new people who say "wish I could draw like you guys" started drawing and to get established artists

out of the "everything I draw has to be a masterpiece or it sucks!" mentality which can lead to art-block. Pick something fun

and easy, put a ridiculously short time limit on it and suddenly you have no time for excuses  you just scribble away furiously for

the time you have and post whatever results you get. No epic masterworks here, just a quick and easy way to loosen up and get drawing!

 

Sidenote: I removed the word Pencil to encourage anyone to participate but really it's best done without a fancy tablet

or special brushes or layers etc etc, that's really not the goal here. Just grab a pencil, a sheet of paper and any

image capture device (scanner, smart phone, camera etc) and you're on your way to 5 minute artz!

I may have cheated by not using a traditional pencil, but I used my digital one as if it was (just as the eraser), so everything is still by hand 🙂

I really wish people would take 10 seconds to read the OP or scan down

No worries if you read the spoiler reveal in the OP it basically says pencil preferred but digital is accepted.

Also I did not put the word pencil into the title like the original thread back in the day had so anyone can participate.

That's a good challenge.  I'll see what I can do Catpockets.

 

As an F.Y.I. any past topic is open to anyone so if anyone else wants to

Okay I thought about this for a bit and I think I got something... Cat's eyes! Super subtle I know.

That's the only way I could think to make Brahn look like his Praetor counterpart...

...yep, definitely nothing else about his face gives it away. Just the eyes.

Oh no I don't :). That DD on a train drawing I did before the topic Shield came up in the previous thread.

I have to say though.. I find the amount of topics a little... much (I can't find the right word)? It feels like we have more topics then drawings.
Can't we just.. draw something CoX related in 5 minutes instead? Or maybe make the "come up with a new topic" thing optional?
I notice it's keeping me back a bit. I'm like, sure I'll draw something, but then I realize I have to come up with a new topic too and I'm like "ugh".

No worries DD. It is not a law or anything.

 

You don't have to pick a new topic if you don't want to. As you have me quoted above "She could add" not she absolutely must add.

I merely put that "draw something then pick something new for others" mechanic there to reward peoples participation.

Also it existed in the original thread back from Live and honestly it was one of my favorite parts of the thread.

 

I figure if you have some topics  you want to see people make silly

doodles of then you should jump in here and try one yourself... you might enjoy it.

 

It's such a low bar for entry too, who doesn't have 5-10 minutes and a pencil/pen/stylus?
