I'm betting on seeing Manimal and/or Greatest American Hero reboots at some point.

Sadly, I think real life has overtaken Automan by some way... any other terrible stuff they could dig out from the vaults?

Fun Fact: My Uncle and Magnum both looked alike back then, so that's probably why I watched it as much. One day he shaved his mustache and little me was NOT having it. "Who TF is this stranger?!?" 😛

The main problem with Vista was that it was a massive change in UI.

Win8 did it worse.  And Server 2012 (WHO THE 8LEEEEEP18 PUTS A HALF-ASS TABLET INTERFACE ON A SERVER?) still worse.

  3. Well crap...I just tried using the share links from Gdrive and the boards don't know what to do with them. 😞

Here's the main link for the folder with just Starfield stuff. I played like a week's worth on the first character, but decided to start a new one recently with a different approach. I didn't gender swap like I normally do (when alternating characters), but I did keep the background basically the same.

Managing inventory, as always with Bethesda, is a big burden. There is so much you can take, but only so much you can carry, on yourself or even in your cargo hold. You do have a few infinite storage spots but have to travel to them. The contraband thing and shielded cargo holds is a nice little twist for someone who wants to do a bit more of a redside play through and join the Crimson Fleet pirates.

When you first enter a building (raiders, etc), then look for a nearby storage unit. Normally a big crate or even a safe (that you often have to crack). You'll find that you can dump everything into these, clear that building, and then take that lovely stroll to the next place. Remember, you can't die from constantly sprinting, but if you fall too far, get shot, etc, then you can.

I've had a couple 0G ship takeovers now and they're a PITA because you can end up with things like turrets in a wall that prevent you from claiming the ship. I had to leave the ship and come back once or twice before it would spawn close enough to kill it. Oh and do what you can to level up flight if you like to 'acquire' ships as I've had a couple that I couldn't' fly because of the class rating. It also affects ship building...I think.

I believe that the CC is somewhat separate from the rest of the game code, as there was a stand-alone costume creator (available in Korea) back during Legacy. This does not mean that it's code is also not a mess. 🙂

Adding costume pieces to any of the body types can run afoul of breaking existing costume pieces just because of the location in the drop-down. It why new stuff is usually tacked onto the end.

The CC would Have to be a separate entity now that I think about it as otherwise the ICON app (Titan exclusive?) wouldn't likely have been a thing I would think.

Exactly, that's because just about everything we interact with is using an array / database that for the longest time had a set structure. Assuming that the original coders didn't concern themselves with looking 10 years down the road, then they likely hardcoded a lot of stuff, forcing an addition to be appended to the existing database.

Ventura.  The only Mac I can't promote to Sonoma is on Monterey and is one year from being end of life (2014 Mac Mini).

That's what I figured. My VM test bench for OSes is a 2019 MBP running Monterey (because I hate the new Settings App).

I have heard that the game code is horribly antiquated, so i cannot imagine how difficult this would be

The term would be "Spaghettified" when talking about the original code. IDK how much they've "DeSpaghettified" it since then, but yeah, any change of that nature would be real 'fun' from a coding standpoint. Even back on live I recall them saying it was horrible. IDK if it's people not commenting their code, optimizing properly, or what. I guess it all depends on the culture of the original team.

Been using since launch with no issues.  Didn't need to reinstall HC Launcher via Mac Installer or any permissions fixes new to Sonoma. It still works fine.

Did you go from Ventura or something older?

  9. I imagine that this would be included in any CC overhaul for sure. As it stands though, the game is coded: Male, Female, & Huge, but it wouldn't take Too much (for one with the talent / tools) to take some of what's in one group and copy it to the other with the appropriate modifications.

  10. Barely toying with it in VM since beta. It was slow AF inside Parallels for the longest, but I don't think that's the best platform anymore anyways. I didn't see much difference over Ventura. TBH, Apple needs to go back to the OSX way and stop pushing out so many compatibility breaking updates.

Damn, I like having my task bar up top.  >:/

Same, there are apps that do that (I think?), but I've not migrated to it beyond just messing around. Now it does have that sorta cool Android app thing, but unless the app you want is old AF or a game (everything comes from the AMZ app store?), then it's probably useless to you. Personally, I use it to load up that old Fallout FM app for when I'm toying around. It has some other things that you used to need 3rd party apps for as well, but there's as much up as down I guess.

Heh. Wine lets you run more or less anything as Mac native these days, including CoH.

There's now also an official Porting Kit (which is... well, still basically Wine plus some better instruction manuals).

    https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10123/

Something graphics-heavy works better with a couple tweaks so that it can use the Metal onboard GPU allocation. But there's not the barrier to build that there used to be, and there's a whole audience out there ready to goof off at work enjoy relaxing gaming time.

And besides... it's set on a spaceship/generation ship, and all decent spacecraft are Mac-compatible.

    Even alien ones.

    Obligatory:

It helped me, at least. Although the newest upload I see there is from 2020. I don't see anything recently uploaded to that folder, but I might be mis-interpreting something. It did include the original CoH Modder vidiotmaps (version 1) which is definitely a helpful reference point.

The files (original creation) would be dated to that era, but I did upload the one talking about modder before linking. Give or take how long Google takes to make things available globally, it should have been the last thing uploaded.
