  1. Open the start menu and type "Registry", then click the Registry Editor icon that appears in the results.  Browse through the folders on the left to the path above, then delete the contents of that folder.

  2. Invision doesn't use BBcode natively.  You can use BBcode when writing posts, but it's converted internally into HTML and thrown away once you submit it.

If you want to quote something in a thread, highlight it and click the "Quote selection" button that appears.  If you just want to put something in a quote box, click the Quote icon in the toolbar.  Adding a quote box in this way has a fixed header.

Please don't ever feel that you need to apologize for having an opinion, even if that opinion differs from the HC cheerleaders.

We're all entitled to one, don't let people tell you otherwise.

If you're going to demand respect for your opinions, then start by respecting the opinions of others.  Don't dismiss them out of hand as being merely from "cheerleaders".

  4. I believe people were telling you to join the Discord because the Facebook group is for general City of Heroes discussion and not for Homecoming support.  We really do heavily recommend people use the Discord for live support (as well as live announcements and server status) because it's easier and faster for everyone involved, though.

The first thing I'd try here is going into the Registry and deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\CoH keys.

  5. In my personal, non-GM opinion as a player, I think telling someone "don't let it offend you" is as useful as telling someone who's just stepped on a Lego with bare feet to "don't let it dig into your foot".  Emotional pain is just as real as physical pain; you can choose to react to it in constructive or destructive ways, but telling someone that they shouldn't have felt it in the first place doesn't actually help anything, and puts the onus on the target rather than the initial cause of the issue.

7.23 in the morning is not the afternoon. It is possible that other time zones, outside America, exist 😉

The team have stated they are roving the start time to give opportunity to different countries.

The donation window opened at 8:30 PM (20:30) BST/UTC+1.

  7. If this problem hasn't already been taken care of, drag the visible characters on the character selection screen around and see if that reveals the lost character.  The game sometimes assigns two characters to the same slot for unclear reasons.

  8. If you see a suggestion thread and you have a reason why the proposal is objectively bad or unworkable, make your case for why and then leave it at that.  There is no reason to turn a misguided suggestion thread into a 20-page mud wrestling match about people's motives and personal failings.

If you see a suggestion thread and you think it's not a good idea but don't have anything backing it up besides a gut feeling, ignore it and move on.  Homecoming Team doesn't uncritically accept every single suggestion made here, and silence is much more effective at evincing the community's disinterest in an idea than a shouting match or accusations of trolling.

In the specific case of the thread about Hasten that people seem the most upset about, did people actually read the proposal?  The OP wanted to bake Hasten into everyone's builds because it's impossible to not take it on the majority of builds.  Nowhere did they say that they wanted Hasten removed or all builds that use Hasten to be made weaker.  It turned out that it wasn't a great proposal, but it's impossible to find that analysis in the thread itself because it's buried in a layer of overreactions from people who read the title, jumped to a conclusion and got borderline abusive about it.

  9. If your computer has dual graphics (an Intel chipset and an Nvidia card), use the Nvidia options to ensure that homecoming.exe always uses the Nvidia hardware only.  You will still probably get an error about old Intel drivers, but you can ignore it.

If your computer only has the Intel chipset, your drivers likely do not have the necessary OpenGL support to run this game.  You can use the driver shim process you posted above, making sure that you apply it to the correct instance of homecoming.exe (there are three, one for each build of the game; the one in HC-bin64 for the 64 bit client, hc-bin32 for 32-bit, and the one in the root folder for safe mode).  We can’t provide support for setting up the driver shim or any problems you have with the game running on those drivers.

Great adds, Homecoming team! I'm hoping you can answer some of these questions:

    1) I see power sets coming out on other servers. Is there a day when you guys will merge and bring those sets on board etc?

    2) A number of us have volunteered to help with game development. Have you added some of the volunteers? Will you be letting us know about that? I am definitely down to help!

Re #1: it's not impossible, but each server is operated by its own staff with its own ideas about development and collaboration.  Some may not prefer to share content with specific servers, or with any other server at all.  Some servers might not want the shared material because it doesn't meet their standards, or it conflicts with the server's own existing/planned content.  For the time being, assume that the new content each server is developing belongs solely to that server and won't appear anywhere else unless someone explicitly says otherwise.

Re #2: volunteers are being contacted as they're needed.  For example, the professional writer who was asked to write the upcoming Vigilante and Rogue arcs in Page 3 originally signed up in one of the Dev's Corner threads.

  11. To be clear, unless you are repeatedly, vexatiously forcing us to deal with violations of this new policy, the most that'll happen to your character is that we'll ask you what you want the new name to be, or tell you to make some costume changes to make your character more visually distinct from the source material and get back to us once you've done so.

You won't lose the character or any progress you've made.  You won't have any specific changes forced upon you unless you refuse to cooperate with us or ignore us.
