    Try this

    Tanker (Invulnerability - Stone Melee).mxd 5.64 kB · 1 download

    Tough beyond belief is checked.

I asked around about stone melee and this is what i came up with to compliment the Invul part.

I didnt put anything in the Tremor for KB to KD because honestly in cases like this i kinda like to send things flying.  But if its an issue just put a sudden acceleration there and it will be fine - just dont remove the proc of the set and thats the only change you may would want to make.

    Hope this helps!

    You da man!

  2. Any chance I could get a Inv/Stone melee build? It would be for PvE group play. No holds barred, money isn't an issue. I want to be tough beyond belief and SMASH with my big rock fists! Love the other builds BTW. I have your Shield/SS and it performs admirably.

Kat/Nin is a lot of fun to play.  Ninjitsu is becoming my go to set for melee.  Easy to cap DEF with nice built in heal.  Couple that with Divine Avalanche from Katana and you are un-hittable.

    I'm curious about Kat/Nin - got a build @ShardWarrior?

Wrong question. You should be asking: Does something need to be arrested, defeated, or destroyed?

That's where you leave the Scrapper.

You need to listen to the theme song again!

    This is amazing.

  5. I'm getting an itch to build a brute again, and I was looking for combinations that seem particularly suited to Brutes. Stone melee looks and feels great, and I read a bit about it in this topic:

There's some good pairings in there, but two that stood out in particular are /rad and /elec. I can think of several cool themes to make either work, but I'm more curious to hear from the Brute forum denizens about pros/cons etc.

    Thoughts?

Sure.  I will give you two.  I don't claim they are the best, but they definitely get the job done.

Build 1:  Quite a bit cheaper than build 2.  Softcap to all positions.  Decent recharge.

Build 2:  Controversial build.  I respec'd from build 1 into this once I could afford it.  Slightly better recharge (10% more).  More endurance friendly as you no longer have maneuvers. Better damage on midnight grasp and shadow maul.  Most importantly a trade off:  ranged defense is only 41%, but I picked up rune of protection, which overs very solid resists with 50% uptime.  I played build 1 for a couple months before switching to build 2.  So far, I like build 2 more even though ranged isn't softcapped.  This is only an "issue" when soloing as on teams either phalanx fighting or a teammate with maneuvers will put you at ranged softcap.  Rune of protection however adds a good amount of mitigation for things that get through the defense.  Siphon life then heals anything else.  I have done +4/8 of many different mob factions (not just council) just fine solo even with ranged not being softcapped.

You can also use these as a starting point.  Build 2 could easily be made to softcap ranged defense with some slightly different slotting (even without maneuvers).  I just didn't like giving up what I gained to shore that up and honestly didn't feel like it was worth it.  I have not been disappointed so far.

Excellent builds and excellent advice. My alt-itis seemingly cannot be cured. Maybe this will be the one... 😉

You should try having fun with what you have instead of getting all Descartes up in this joint.

But if you are truly seeking clarity:

    I scrap, therefore I am.

    That's the answer.

And apologies for the double post, but I wanted to respond to this. It perfectly encapsulates what's wrong with my mind haha. I sometimes run into the "paralysis by analysis" dilemma.

    You speak wisdom. Thank you.

Certain sets shine on scrappers. For example, my favorite scrapper by far is dark melee/shield defense. I think this combo is the best on scrappers. Stalkers lose soul drain in favor of build up and damage multipliers are lower on the others than scrappers.

Other combos are more thematic. For example, my captain America styled hero (StJ/SD) is a scrapper because he seems more like a scrapper than the other melee archetypes.

Scrappers do considerably more damage than either brutes or tanks and a fairly survivable in their own right.  I honestly don’t think tanks can even hold a candle to them damage wise. And brutes still are a fair bit below scrappers in terms of pure damage.

I think stalkers edge scrappers out more than either tanks or brutes do. The problem is stalkers crush them in terms of single target damage, have just about the same amount of survivability, and some of the newer sets even have good AoE damage to boot. Plus stalkers have much more controllable and better crit chance. The only thing scrappers have over stalkers is that they don’t have forced stealth in all of their secondaries.

That said, I think scrappers are generally just a lot more fun than brutes and tanks. And I like my dark/shield scrapper way better than any stalker I have.

DM/Shield is an interesting thought. And you're right - I've made some stalkers that do stupid damage but it just doesn't scratch that scrapper itch. Do you have a build for this combo?

  9. Hello Scrapper forumites. I've been tossing some ideas around in my head, and I'm writing this post as a way to get some clarity.

It seems to me that scrappers have a strange place in the AT pecking order (inasmuch as there is one). Especially with the tank buff, (and stalkers having been buffed late on live) it feels like scrappers are the odd man out.

Brutes can dish out quasi-comparable damage at max fury and are tankier. Tanks are tankier and, while the damage isn't quite there, have loads of AoE. Stalkers are the undisputed single target destroyers.

    Where does that leave scrappers?

I say this with love as I was a scrapper main on live and have made more scrappers than I can reasonably count. I know that their crits are still delicious, and certain combos like TW/Bio are most potent on scrappers. But beyond a few things like that, are there certain areas where they shine far more than the other melee ATs?

I'm sure I'm simplifying things a bit, and I don't mean to be down on scrappers. More looking to be educated and spark a little debate about where scrappers stand.

    Thanks everyone.

I know you said cost wasn't an issue, but if you do want something that's a bit more in between in terms of cost because she is purpled to hell and back, I'll share some of my choices for leveling:

    - Mako's Bite and Touch of Death were staples for ST melee attacks. The set bonuses are all around very very good for a set so cheap.

    - Scirocco's Dervish and Annihilation were for Sweeping Cross and Spinning Strike. Same as above more or less.

    - The 3 slot Overwhelming Force in Kick is entirely gravy because unslotted Kick makes my skin itch, those were two floating slots at the end, and I like the 3 piece set bonus.

    - ATOs and Luck of the Gambler should be first priority, then health slotting, then Performance Shifters. That gets you most of the way there.

    Hope this helped!

WOW thank you so much! Great information and super informative. You're an MVP. Now we wait for @StrikerFox to show up. 😉

I like StJ paired with SR. SR can be softcap easily while also slotting for recharge (Quickness, Red Fortune, LotG +7.5%). It leaves a lot of room to slot attacks for damage. No need to chase IO set bonuses to softcap defense. No need to slot a lot of recharge to run an optimal attack chain. It's possible make a very playable build with a passive +60% damage bonus. Here's a 90 second pylon run. Probably around 550 dps.

I've never paired StJ with ElA or WP, but played them with various primaries back on live. I liked Electric Armor more since I can't seem to make a decent WP build unless it's with NB or BS.

Do you have any builds you'd be willing to post? @StrikerFox

My favorite Stalker combo that I've played is still my first - Street Justice / Super Reflexes.

StJ is a monster of a set in terms of dealing really competitive damage, having a good amount of soft control, flowing really well, and just being purdy. SR is great on Stalkers because you press Tab, F and charge at your next victim at Mach 7.

It's basically Batgirl on superadine and that's just awesome

Would you be able to post a build? I made a StJ / SR stalker based on this comment and it's feeling like a lot of fun. More than I've had in a while. I'm just unsure of an endgame build. And feel free to make it super expensive - the more the merrier. 😃 @Crater Kate

  13. Looking forward to rolling a dom and I've settled on Mind/Nrg. Can anyone help me with an endgame, permadom build? I'm fairly new to doms, but money is no object. I've heard mind is a great primary and eng made sense as a secondary with all the range for my play style.

    Thanks a bunch!

  14. Hello all! I've had an idea swirling in my head and was wondering what everyone else had to say about it. Recently, I was in an AE farm with a Stone/Rad Melee tank and he was killing bosses in a +4/x8 map. All enemies were boss type ONLY; no minions, lieutenants, etc. Contaminated + mud pots + judgement seemed to be how he was taking them out. It also appeared they only did S+L damage.

Would this work better as a brute? So, would a Rad melee/Stone brute perform better than a tanker at a +4/x8 boss-only AE farm?

Also, I was wondering if this kind of farm was even efficient (in terms of xp/inf per hour). Furthermore, are there other classes that could complete a farm like this? I wasn't sure if other powersets/ATs could tank that much damage from that many bosses or if it's far easier than I'm imagining.

Sidenote: he did claim he was trying to design it to be an AFK farm (so you set up near the first spawn, mud pots eventually kills them, other patrols make their way to you after first group dies, etc). Didn't know how likely he was to design such a thing (if it's even possible).

Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble. Thoughts?

  15. Basically title. I've heard invuln's numbers are mighty impressive on Stalker. I've heard Broadsword has interactions that make it hit very hard (anyone care to explain in more detail?) and I've heard Savage Melee's procs are very good on Stalkers.

Any input or advice (or builds!) is very much appreciated! Thanks.

  16. Found this build courtesy of Constantine. It's a WM/BIO scrapper. Anyone care to port to a brute?:

  17. Hello all! Thinking of rolling another alt  ::) and I'm fairly set on WM/Bio. WM seems overlooked and quite powerful, while bio compliments almost anything. Anyone have a build (or two)? Thanks!
