I "overwrite" - sue me, it's no crime since this used to work.
I think the one thing I really disagree with re AE advice is the advice to not "overwrite". People are either going to click through things...or they're not. If they're not then give them story, if they are then they aren't reading it anyway so write for those that will. I'm not advocating purple prose but there's no need to emulate "Go. Hunt. kil. skulls."

Everyone here puts such work and let's face it, love, into their creations. It's great to see! Keep up the good work!
So while I was mad enough to nominate all the Dark to Darkest story line for Dev Choice (and I'm not rescinding that!) I suppose I should put current primacy towards Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part Two, Arc ID 26952.
Following the events of Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part One, Ghost Widow wishes to "avail of your services" as she seeks to recover items rather personal to her.
(And that leads directly into Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part Three, Arc ID 27233, where after various shenanigans in the service of Ghost Widow across the Rogue Isles you return to Paragon in an attempt to end the threat of a faction of Arachnos armed with time travel capability.)

Delighted to have been chosen! I just hope people have as much fun playing as I had writing.
Just as a matter of interest, you can see Madame Maven and her team chatting to the press all around Atlas Plaza and City Hall.

Dollface's Manison. We have Manticore's so why not this one? Admittedly you have a large portrait of her on one wall, but you can ignore that.

No, all the callbacks to Live serve a purpose. We need to look back at how it worked on Live, and then say, "This is how PvP worked on Live. What parts of it do we want to keep, and what parts to we want to change, to make it good for Homecoming?" A starting point, not a goal.
I believe I added some clarity to my point which actually agrees with you. Callbacks and learned experience from Live = Good. Treating Live as something never to be changed because "that's how it was and that's how it should remain" = not good.

As an aside, there's a whole slew of island/landmass to the south of the Rogue Isles map that aren't even zones! What's there? A topic for elsewhere perhaps!

When the zones were first introduced, there *was* a mission that sent you to the PVP zones - a simple talk to (talk to PVP zone liason.)
If you think people *now* complain about "having" to go to PVP zones for badges? It's a polite chuckle compared to the outrage people had at this. Some people *do not like* PVP, do not want PVP, do not want to be exposed to it, do not want to even acknowledge it's in the game. So the devs moved the contacts *outside* the zones, in the PVE areas - and, finally, stopped *giving* them as contacts, since they would block progress towards getting other contacts until you went to talk to them.
Putting missions in that force you to go to PVP zones? You'd better start liking the look of feathers stuck in the boiling tar that's covering you. I *like* the zones, though I think they need improvement on several things, and will fight (or just say "kill me and get it over with, this one's just not slotted for it," if that's the case) when I'm in there - but I'll argue against having missions force people to go into the zones all day.
That said, there *are* missions in there, which (appropriately) affect (only) the zone. You have to be of level to get the missions, of course - you can level past them. (You can also get a temporary stealth/invis/phase shift for doing a patrol, which I tend to find handy.) But nobody's forced to go in and do them.
A thought. If those contacts were not contacts but say the equivalent of tips? And you can dismiss tips.
And I do remember what that was like 🙂 I'm not a PVPer I'm just more thinking out loud about a reason to go there. Personally? I stated my own preferences above. Reclaim Bloody Bay and Warburg for the Rogue Isles as PVE areas by either doubling them or flagging PVP off. Siren's Call needs a plot overhaul to be any use to anyone. Even if Paragon cleared out the Arachnos it's still just a ruin. And RV? It's the only one that really seems to have a purpose in game (kinda).
Again, we're all talking in circles IMO. Echo locations aren't going to be free for all, the under 40 PVP zones are mostly dead and RV is only active on Indom.
Time to draw a line under this and move on for now methinks.

"Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it."
We have literal years of experience of what happened on live. Ignoring that and just saying "live is gone" is, frankly, foolish. We've learned what people do and do not like, what works, doesn't work and sort of works and that sort of thing. "Now is now" *IS* now because of what happened before.
I believe I failed to explain myself fully there. Not arguing the point of experience and so on, and how we got to here. Take that as read, But I'll give you a little example (and you might have already seen it but maybe others haven't so bear with me). A while ago I pondered that perhaps the old Paragon Dance Party could be used for something else. And I threw in some suggestions. Good or bad? That's subjective obviously. What isn't subjective is people declaiming things like "It was shut down on Live so that's the way it must always be. End of. " Which some did. And I've come across that peculiar attitude elsewhere here and chatting to people in game or on Discord, as though Live was somehow carved in stone. That was my reference point. Again, I should have been clearer. Apologies.

'Now' is the time!
I'm agreeing!
I'm thinking that an idealistic notion would be for players to have a PVE and a PVP build for their character(s) [Yes, I know some do this but I think the majority don't. Altitis doesn't seem to extend to a second build for some reason] and for there to be more to do in the PVP zones beyond "only" PVP/badging/shard&nuke collecting. A mission sends you to Warburg, you pull on your PVP build and off you go. I'm not sure. I'm in the position of someone who by and large doesn't PVP yet doesn't want PVPers to lose out, because why should they?

I think any attempt to build out the PVP community is not going to involve the Echo zones. Again, and I'm sounding very repetitive now, only Indom practices any level of real PVP and even that is mostly confined to RV, I don't know what the answer is right now. I've thrown out various suggestions above, though ultimately they still benefit PVE more than PVP, having read them again, so...
I think one thing has to be taken into account, and this applies to everything in the game, we need to look at the game as it is now. I read too many responses from people saying, "well, that is how it was on Live", or "On Live this was a thing", or "On Live they did such and such", or "before I13..." Live is gone. Now is now.

Zones are mostly fine IMO. Siren's Call was very busy post COV launch. The PVP zones are dead because Castle's stupid Issue #13 PVP changes made them unpopular on live, and incarnates made the bar-to-entry too high on homecoming.
If anything was changed for PVP zones, then I'd suggest:
-Having incarnates not work there / have only the alpha slot work there
-Make them all level 1-50
-Add a RWZ rikti training dummy to practice attack chains on
That's it.
The incarnate stuff only works in RV, everything else is level capped. Level 1 -50? That can mean different things to different people. Do you mean make them like event mobs that con white with no visible level so they can battle anyone? Genuine curiosity there. And the training dummy? That's a good idea.

Surely the hazard zones would make more thematic sense?
That said, while I love PVP in this game, I don't like the idea of converting PVE zones into PVP zones.
What would be cool, though, is having an "opt-in" PVP switch that would make you attackable/able to attack other players who also opt-in. (With some zone exceptions, like starter zones, co-op zones, raid zones, pocket d, kallisti wharf.)
Imagine flying through Steel Canyon and seeing two heroes duking it out? Would be awesome.
Would it though? I mean the actual PVP zones outside RV on Indom are mostly dead apart from random badge hunters and people wanting Shivan Shards and/or Nukes. Surely getting the PVP zones that already exist to work better in some way is better?

To be honest I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but anyway. While it's a LONG way off, has anyone else noticed (I'm sure someone has) that the southernmost islands of the Rogue Isles aren't mapped or zoned or, as far as I know, even referenced? Just south of Port Oakes, and continuing further south, those ones. Now with a tiny dev team I don't see that being addressed any time soon but I'm just pointing out a thing 🙂

Being able to have more than the single contact person. Finish a Mish and your contact says go see so and so. And next Mish is with that next contact.

Adding in my latest before the list grows too much longer! 🙂 (Great to see so many people publishing arcs!)
Return to Faultline - Arc ID: 32295
Catching up with the Faultline gang at the Drenched Donuts shop, all hell breaks loose! Help restore Faultline to its fractured self. (Best played in Faultline's AE so you feel like you're there.)
Regular writing machine, ain't ya? LOL. Carry on with the good work!

Yes and no. I can see the need to cycle a lot of the old maps but they can make new characters and factions - that is not a reach. New lore and story would also be great and essential if you're adding new. I'll say again, some of us are really into volunteering and helping out. I look at all the stuff added on Thunderspy server...we can do this and more!
And what stuff storywise is that?

Full Circle (Arc ID: 32127)
Heroic, L40 and above
(custom baddies, canon-related, save the world, mystery)Time has chosen you to repair a rift in its tapestry (as have the guardians of the Mobius Strip, the Autumn Wards). But can you bind together the unraveled threads of sacrifice, heroism, and family before the Circle of Thorns tears them, and the world, apart?
I thoroughly enjoyed this 🙂 You have my PM regarding my play through of it. Great story and I'm not even talking about the Mobius material here.

Nope. Haven't been for a long time. Especially now, it'd be too easy to make an 'unwinnable' base to raid.
Oh well. It was just a thought to add some flavour to PVP.

No to making them pvp zones. Yes, to restoring Galaxy City as it was originally - it's been long enough story-wise to say that it has been rebuilt.
The thing about restoring Galaxy City to "now" is that it'll still look like it was then. It won't have the sheen of Atlas, which it should do if it actually HAD been rebuilt -- and plenty of people won't mind that just to get it back --and I think that's a little issue that needs to be dealt with. It's not entirely destroyed. The area around Orion Beltway is kind of intact, kind of, so if it had the older look and then a revamp moved further out that would make sense.

The flagging of a player for enemy, friendly, or otherwise free for all status is as simple as clicking a button in the dev console or typing the command out manually. This can be demonstrated if you have access to the console commands via a private server.
I appreciate the discussion.
Is it? Fair enough. I considered making a "me only" server but have yet to bother doing so. But again my prejudices show, I simply don't want to have to wander by PVPers murdering each other to do my PVE mish, so I'm still on the side of doubling the location.
What do you think of adding more event/quest/action to RV though, as per my other suggestion? Personally I find PVP dull. That's not stigmatizing people who love it, that's me.
And it just occured to me, and if this is already being done then ignore me, are base raids still possible? Would designated Red v Blue bases, where you temporarily join a side for the event and fight your way through a designed base be a thing? As I said, if it's already a thing, cool. Just spitballing here. More interesting PVP content is possible maybe than just RV alone.

I assume you mean Contaminated? They're the Outbreak tutorial mob.
Does invisibility work vs. players? I've used it for PvP zone badge collection, though I needn't have bothered, as the zones were dead. Out in the world, invisibility is just high transparency, and the floating name is still there.
Loading extra copies of the zones could work, as long as they're marked, but I wonder how that would affect base teleporters. I've never seen a "zone 2" selection besides once when the GMs spawned Paladin in the first KR, and I was trying to enter by monorail at the time.
I don't mind others PvPing as long as I don't have to deal with them. If they pester about it, I'll have to start using the ignore system, but that's okay.
I do PvP daily on MtG Arena, which has no PvE content (technically there's a bot, but its difficulty is set to 'laughably incompetent'). One to two hours of that a day is more than enough competitive cartoon violence.Base teleporters? There are no TP points into current PVP zones and it won't affect the macro we use at all, so that's not an issue. Invis vs players? You'd have to ask a PVPer! I remember the Stalker Hide ability being very efficient though.

Realistically, the suggestion to change these zones won't happen, at least on homecoming. There's no desire for it, and badge-hunters have a second, fairly large and vocal community (RP - enough to *also* have its own "unofficial" server, after all, and able to be assumed large given live-Virtue typically being one of the highest pop, highest activity servers) who would rip the faces off anyone wanting to do this to crash RP events. 🙂
I'm going to agree and disagree with you on the "desire" bit. Bear with me :). There probably isn't an imminent desire for these zones to be changed but (as I've said above I like your version regarding doubling the zones) there definitely IS a desire for more something, and converting existing material into, well, whatever, surely must be far more doable than building from scratch. So if changing/doubling these zones aided the game then personally I'd see that as a win/way forward, with the usual caveat that you ain't going to please everyone.
-
As I said above I don't choose to PVP (have done but it's not my thing, each their own and all that) but I'm also 100 per cent against there being more PVP zones. Less PVP zones? I'm torn. I don't want those that love PVP to lose their zones but this isn't Live and this is a volunteer community/economy, so I'd be for the "doubling" of the three sub 40 PVP zones as mentioned above so as to utilise them further with ongoing story and so on. It's been a LOOONG time since I coded anything but I still reckon doubling the zone would be easier than coding for every single player to have to remember to flag themselves going in or out of the zone. And doubling somewhere like Bloody Bay with it's already teeming mobs and so on is likely easier than filling out Kallisti Wharf. (<--speculation obviously)
And the last zone, the only one any really uses, RV? I'd add more PVP stuff to it. Anything you could do in something like laser tag? Throw it in there. Getting chased by enemies, run through the minefield, if you dare! Who knows? We're all pretty inventive here. Me? I'm all about the narrative. Yes yes yes, sure everyone is waiting to see if the guys eventually throw Battalion at us (frankly I could happily live without it and let them come up with something different and surprise us rather than being shackled to what was due on Live but YMMV) but in the meantime we need all the rest of the narrative to move on a bit.
Now I'm the one who has veered. Apologies.
PS, I shot my first Infected in the RV tram station yesterday since Live! I was hopping in to grab the badges (not on Indom so perfectly safe) and there he was. I almost looked around for a Stalker!
