I'll happily die on the hill comparing endurance per power is a largely irrelevant metric, if we don't consider damage as well.

The speed at which you can drain your endurance bar using powers in a vacuum matters little compared to the speed at which you can defeat things; or, to put it another way, using 5 attacks costing 5 endurance (5 * 5 = 25 endurance spent) each to kill a lieutenant is not better than using 2 attacks costing 12.5 endurance (2 * 12.5 = 25 endurance spent) each to kill that same lieutenant.

Most powersets that "feel" light on end turn out to do so because they're light damage. Which, in practice, often makes them end heavier. It takes longer to defeat things -> toggles spend more time "draining" endurance.

EM is an even more special case because it has ET and its 0 end cost. There is simply no substitute, EM is the most end efficient powerset right now. If you spam ET on a 4 second enhanced recharge, it doesn't matter how many Total Focus you throw in between. You will end up spending less end than on any other powerset.

The impact on end management is even more extreme than a naive analysis based on the above could show. As long as you've got your health in check through other means, ET is basically Brawl. It means you can spend most of your endurance bar with no worry, knowing that the moment you get low, you can fallback on using ET and ET exclusively, to deal decent damage still and be endurance positive no matter what.

I haven't tried EM before and am leveling it via missions. I don't doubt what you say, but DAMN I'm so not used to running out of end---especially when TF misses. My toggles are constantly dropping due to end drain. It's a pain to level up with such high end costs per power. Haven't fully slotted it so I imagine it will be better end game. Also, the speed at which you can kill things carries more weight than how fast your end bar drains is conditional. If you're in a long mission with LOTS of baddies, I'd rather go with a powerset that's light on end and can keep killing instead of waiting for my end bar to recover. ET isn't always going to be recharged.

It's very hard to overstate just how much of an end discount is attained by having your best attack be completely end free.

A procced out EM chain with fast ET and no slow ET eats about ~2.5 EPS.

A procced out Staff chain is about ~3 EPS.

If you run fast ET + slow ET in a chain, as some are fond to do, EM's EPS goes down even further.

That's attack chains, theorycraft by excellence. Real play has you using TF + 0 end ET 100% of the time, while Bone Smasher and Energy Punch may or may not activated. Pushing the EPS further down.

And that is just EPS, mostly the psychological version of being end light (we want to attack as fast as we can, regardless of powerset).

When it comes to Damage-Per-Endurance, EM is fantastic. Once again because of ET.

Essentially, you consume less end than other powersets attacking at full speed. *and* you deal more damage, attacking at full speed. So your endurance efficiency is greater than a simple look at EPS might suggest, because you defeat enemies faster.

But really, I am typing up rationalisations after the fact. My simple experience that leads me to this enthusiastic opinion has been that the way I build meleers (procs procs procs), they ALL need Ageless to sustain themselves.

Except EM. I can run procced out EM with just Cardiac - and pick up Barrier as a result.

Sometimes I still run Ageless and Musculature regardless, but either way. The existence of that choice, unique to EM for my own builds, easily illustrates just how end light EM is.

It's also great fun to have a 0 end attack to fall back to, in extreme situations. Say you mess up your end management, mobs enddrained you, you've got a few points of end left and you desperately want to keep your toggles up, until some helpful end management click recharges... Slow ET, wait, slow ET, wait, slow ET keeps you in the fight until you can pick the pace up again.

Maybe dmg per endurance but endurance per power his HORRIBLE on EM. Just right click a power and go to detailed info. Compare it to other powersets like Katana for example. Total Focus has a endurance cost of 18.51!!!

Fire/Devices is a pretty wicked hover blaster.  I enjoy mine thoroughly.  A similar pairing with soft controls would be Fire/TA.  Also fun!

Ice/Devices is an old PvP winner, and it is super fun at range as well.  Ice/TA is ... NAAAASTY if you're into playing a mez blaster.

    Ice/TA is a BEAST!

  4. Anyone tried this combo yet? How should I slot Ice armor for good survival? Should I skip certain powers? Mainly building for fun end game play. I don't have access to Mid's so any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

It's my favorite Fire Armor combo. I have a build in my signature. And Ice does well, just need to get away from the Frozen Fists/Greater Ice Sword trap.

I really want to stick with Ice on the scrapper. Any ideas on which powers to keep? I have skipped Frozen Fists and taken Greater Ice sword.

  6. 5 hours ago, Sovera said:

The problem with a Scrapper is that Fire Armor doesn't hold the enemies close because it has no agro aura. Consider a Brute for nearly the same damage and enemies not haring off once their HP gets to 30%. Or a Tanker if the thought of Burn at 18 fills you with joy (it does to me 😄 ).

True. I had an old 50 Ice/Fire Scrapper collecting dust. But now I recall why she didn't get any action. Also, it seems that Ice doesn't do a lot of dmg or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Might try a Ice/Fire tank. I like Ice patch and burn.

  7. 11 hours ago, BrandX said:

This isn't a Scrapper.  This is my Ice/Fire Brute.  However, it may help you in what you're looking for.  Also, mind you, I did pick concept power picks here, so I won't say it's optimal, but I do Fire Farm just fine with her.

  8. Hello all,

So Linux is my daily driver for now due to my Windows SSD crapping out. I can't get Mid's to run on Linux. Would anyone be kind enough to post a Ice/Fire build that caps Fire defense? You can leave other powers unslotted, just need to figure out which enhancements, how many slots, and which sets to use to cap fire defense. I am mainly looking to have fun with this build by running with fire farmers. I wanna drop ice patch and burn and watch them die!

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I remember making one of these in week 1 but i hardly played it after 50 even though i love time. Lost the build anyway. Pretty sure there was some mention of a way to change beam sound effx somewhere here on the forums but i have no clue where it is. Some searching might be required. Theres literally an infinite way to build stuff and you haven't mentioned what powers you want/what playstyle you use. Do you wanna range/hover blast with single target stuff only? Do you wanna jump into melee and chuck out end of time and the odd melee attack? I like cutting beam but thats usually the first power i see dropped in other players builds. Anyway i'll throw this on, not sure about how necessary time stop/time shift are now or even if theres enough end to throw out all the attacks without blue bar vanishing:

Hi, sorry, yes I am thinking of a fully ranged/hover build focused on single target damage.

So no-one has suggested asking the MM to move their pets hmm? Never asked the MM to be at the rear of the team in a cave? These seem like solutions to your issue. Like seriously did you try communicating to the MM in your team OP, or did you get stuck behind a pet, get mad and come onto the forums to have a gool ole rant.

How are the pets preventing you from using your powers exactly?

What other issues are you talking about here? And it's not on the back burner, it's not on a burner at all afaik.

Like seriously, did you ever think that many have asked MMs to move their pets and it hasn't worked? Have you actually read how some players reply to such request? Or did you just decide you wanted to flame someone? The fact that you're asking how pets are preventing players from using their powers tells me you have no idea what I'm talking about and haven't experienced this issue or you're on a "good ole rant" yourself.  Oh it's not on the burner? So you mean this is a new issue? No, it's happened to many players already. I've seen many arguments and teams fall apart because a player asked an MM to kindly move their pets from blocking doorways in missions. I've also seen many players be rude to MMs because of this. It's not realistic to ask the MM player to keep an eye on their pets at all times. Do they play the game and have fun or do they just sit there and watch to make sure one of their pets don't block one of many doors in a mission? Also, if you're going to be rude, don't contribute.

I assume you would want something that is survivable while provides as much damage from auras and a good PBAoE attack you can put on auto? Or did you have something else in mind?

Yes, exactly! Would be great if powerset has toggle auras. Set it and forget it kind of deal. Not clicky buffs, but toggle buffs.

  12. Hey All,

I want to try so many ATs and countless builds! Considering that, farming has been a fast source of funding builds. It's gotten a little boring though (I'm sure many can relate), so in an effort to make farming fun again, I've decided to build a toon to follow along with my farming toon. Suggestions for builds that can contribute while on follow? Thanks in advance!

  13. Try Dark/Rad or Warmace/Rad.

Radiation as a set offers good res, great regeneration, absorb shield with regen (perma-ed easily), a T9 power with virtually no crash, a toggle with +recharge based on # of baddies around you, and a heal that does some -regen to your target.

Dark Melee does great damage with fast animations, to-hit debuff powers, AND it has a heal.

2 heals, good res, +recharge toggle, absorb, regen, to-hit debuff which boosts def. Tried one out on ITF without incarnates and was incredibly tough.

I had to stay on my Warmace/Rad though because WARMACE IS NUTS! 3 out of 5 powers in your end-game attack chain will do Extreme or Superior damage---which is AWESOME! You'll be taking chunks off of health bars. Also, it's beautiful how often Crowd Control will recharge with Beta Decay's +recharge +taunt toggle. The taunt keeps baddies nice and close to you while Crowd Control wrecks them. By the time they get up from being knocked down by Crowd Control, your Crowd Control will be recharged to put them back on the floor. Just put Crowd Control on auto and hop into a group of baddies and make them bounce up and down.

  14. There have been countless players who have experienced being blocked by MM pets countless times. Caves, Doorways, etc. MM pets block doorways and other player are literally unable to execute their powers on enemies. To put it simply, other players can't play when MM pets block doorways. And that's just with one MM on a team. Add a few more and it's not even worth trying to play. It's very frustrating and needs an immediate solution. Allow toons to "pass-through" MM pets or perhaps some other solution is certainly needed. This should be a high-priority case. Also, what does not make sense is that other issues that doesn't prevent playing of the game have been recently addressed, yet this has been put on the back burner. Why?

This should actually be a Bug Report, I think.  In my experience, I am able to push other players' Henchpets around with ease in-game.  The only time I can't is when they're pinned to a corner or squeezed between a couple of enemies or players.  I know many other players have reported being unable to do this, though, so I'm unsure where the issue is occurring in the code.

Yes, I wasn't sure what this is classified as, bug or a design flaw. Either way, it does not allow playing of the game for other players and should be addressed immediately. I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed already. When I get on a team with an MM, I just don't try. I just leech XP or I leave the team. Not even worth trying to get past the pets. This issue takes precedence over others that have recently been addressed.
