  1. Dark/Dark Scrapper is still my main, and it has been my favorite set since way back when Cloak of Fear was a Mag3, didn't bankrupt your endurance bar, and could actually hit targets (before the Nerf on live). As much as I love Dark Armor, its mostly for the nostalgia at this point. The "soft controls" have been nerf'd into oblivion, the animations are pretty cheesy compared to other sets, the endurance issues are painfully apparent and limiting to effective power combinations, and its defensive/resistance niche is pretty much readily available to every power set with IO bonus'. Cloak of Fear is pretty much (to me) the staple of the set. I mean, what's dark without a fear? I think they nerf'd it a bit hard due to PvP issues back in the day. I would love to see it's accuracy come back up. It's not really worth the endurance cost and will barely hit reliably when you have buildup active and 3 slot it with accuracy. I can't complain about the Mag 2 fear, because the mobs will attack anyway if Death Shroud is going; fear is only effective as long as nobody attacks them. However, with Death Shroud on, most minions that might get hit with fear are going to die so fast that the fear status effect is nearly pointless. The -to hit effect of Cloak of Fear is the real gem of the power. However, it's all a mute point when it can just barely hit even level minions. The ridiculously strong heal is pretty much par for the course. All dark sets have a crazy heal, but they are all slow and all have a to-hit check. So it's a tradeoff. Granted it rarely misses, but you'll fall every time it does. I think its a fair power due to the fact that it's not a guaranteed hit, and you need active combatants to make it work. It's more of an Oh Crap! power (if you have enough endurance to run that hog) than a heal to keep you topped off like most of the other Resistance based armor sets. I would love to see an animation change option on Cloak of Darkness. It's always been bit too generic for me. I love what they did for it with Stalkers, and the one from Mu Mastery. The big black cloud is just a bit too much. Its a bit sad when Dark Servant has a better silhouette. I wonder if they did it that way so that nobody in PvP could see what your attack powers were. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I will say, that it does look pretty cool when you leap into a mob and fire off soul drain with Cloak of Darkness and Cloak of Fear on... You turn into a little glowing cloud of death. I don't mind the lack of KB protection. Its a terrible hole in the set to be sure. If you don't fill that one you're as good as dead; since KB/KD is so prevalent, your inherent defense is minimal, and the -to hit debuffs don't ever hit on Dark Armor. However, it is one that's easily fixed. I think that's why they invented Acrobatics... Now with IOs, you don't even have to mess with that 15 toggle endurance nightmare. The last real benefit of the Dark Armor set is a bit overshadowed by IOs anymore. Now everyone can have crazy levels of Psi/Toxic resistance/defense, which used to be Dark's bread an butter. If you wanted to be the last one standing in a Carnie Mob, run Dark Armor... However, on the up side... the resistance to endurance drain is a god send... with how fast your endurance drains under the stress of toggles (and the power hungry heal), you don't need any help to hit zero in a fight.
  2. I was trying a farm map and was going down a lot quicker than I used to on my Dark/Dark troller. I checked the combat attributes and it didn't show Fade, or Shadow Fall getting a buff from Clarion Radial Epiphany. It still lists that it buffs defense powers and seems to be working on Combat Jump, but its not affecting any of the others. Is this a bug, or is this a permanent thing now? On a side note, is Soul Absorption Capped? I have it 6 slotted, but I don't seem to be getting a very good Regeneration rate off of max targets.
  3. I’ll have to check again on Umbra beast. I dropped it in to check last week. Terrifying Roar was dishing out A bunch of 71s. I’ll check again. I also woke up in the middle of the night wondering how often Haunt will “fear” 🤔 I think I need to sit down with each pet and see what kind of attack chains they’re prone to. I should also check Trap of the Hunter in fluffy. I wonder how often it vs the cloud senses Proc hits in trebelous tentacles? good to know on the energy font. I was reading and most posts said that you’d just get 1 at cast. I’m all about seeing a bunch of those little guys. The more pets the better! ❤️❤️❤️ Also, was not aware that the patron pets could increase recharge. 😱 I figured they were flat rate mandatory recharge... this intrigued me! MM’s eat your hearts out!
  4. So I've been playing with Power Boost and here is what I came up with for a trial. Not quite where I'd like it to be, but it might be workable for a smashing/lethal farmer. Thoughts? 5. I 6slot it. 2 Preventative Med for heal/Rech, 3 Performance shifter for Acc/End Mod/Rech, 1 -to hit Neg Energy Proc. It never misses and does PBAoE -energy damage every 45 seconds. Procs like a champ! It’ll max my Regen and Recovery with 7 targets. Hitting 1 or 2 is plenty to never need endurance... 7+ targets and I’ll tank 3 mobs of 54s 8man spawn. Such a great power once it’s permanent...
  6. So I think I will keep this as my “all around” build. I now need an AoE build, maybe something with a proc’d whirlwind and some mini-nukes. 🤔 Just dance (spin) into a mob and light off a bunch of bombs... that’d be fun. leviathan might be good for that. Perhaps a damage base build. GFC Proc into Tactics with the Soul Mastery epic? 🤔 I wonder if it’ll count the energy font or dark fairy as a buff able target? 4 pets is still low on the scale for it to Proc reliability. If it doesn’t perhaps a ridiculous amount of control with Primal forces mastery. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  7. That does sound intriguing. I am running perma-haunt, and they’re pretty awesome. They hit with double procs, I did find that out. -to hit Proc hits 7x a minute between the two of them. That was gratifying. Double Tar Patch is also a huge help... only wish it proc’d better, but stacking -res is huge. If double haunt is workable, I wonder if triple tar patch is workable... might be rough with cast times.
  8. I'm not having too bad a time with my current build, but I believe there's more to be had. I'm thinking perhaps Laviathan Mastery or perhaps dropping Clarion and dipping into Primal Forces. Here's my current build for content. It's not too bad on a farm; slow but safe. 9. I would love perma-hasten. The perma-soul drain would be crazy.
  10. I read through most of the threads here and I saw one small blurb on philosophy. I was curious if there was going to be anything with a how to mechanics/ philosophy/ build strategy? I haven’t been to PvP zones since live and would like to see how things are operating. With PvP, you really can’t learn much by visiting with a PvE build... except how many pixels make up the dirt. I’d reverse engineer a few builds to figure out the method, but there aren’t too many examples here to look at. I also looked at the Mids hero builder and PvP seems to be higher stats than PvE when I look at the same build, which is contradictory to what Ive read here... so Color me lost... Any help would be appreciated. ❤️🤞🏻
  11. Sharrode, I apologize for my above build. I was playing with different sets and got a bit ahead of myself. In response to your question, I like hasten to keep my attack chains up. Shadow punch, Smite, Siphon Life... then Shadow punch, smite, midnight grasp. With enough recharge, I have been able to see shadow punch, smite, shadow punch, smite, etc. and you’re right oppressive gloom is far more useful than some of the powers I had. There just wasn’t much to stack the stun with. But for minions, it’s great. I can definitely see the merits of your non-hasten build here. You got those recharges down pretty well. I’m impressed. I am going to nix the Shadow Maul due to animation time. I am just not a fan of it. Quick animated attacks are a big drain on endurance, but it allows me to react and heal when I start getting hit in rapid succession. I am looking at the endurance use/recovery without Incarnates and without shadow maul as an endurance “cooldown/coaster” power, and I’m wondering if it’d hold up with the use of a quicker sustained attack chain. I’m also curious why you didn’t work in Superior Critical Strikes. I figured the crit chance proc would be useful on a heavy attack. Is that not the case? I’ve also been told performance shifter +end is pretty much a god send. Any reason it’s left off? Is the kB protection in Super Jump always active, or is it only effective when SJ is enabled?
  12. First off, thank you both very much for the build suggestions. I’ve been looking into their function and slotting. Cazden121, I am curious on the functionality of Shadow Meld. I have looked at it a few times and generally ruled it out due to the long activation and short duration. I’m currently trying to theorize how to effectively utilize it at combat speed other than click it before jumping into a mob to build up then rely on the ever Stacking -to hit to carry me through a fight. I omit shadow maul from my attacks due to the animation time. I’ve face planted from being rooted for 3 seconds in heavy action waiting to fire off a heal, so I generally stick to the single target attacks. Unleash Potential does peak my interest. Does it play with Unrelenting as specified, or is it a unimplemented feature? I like the overall build, but I think I may need to address some additional kB protection. I’m a little leery of just 4 pts. It’s a personal preference... and I am greedy. lol
  13. Of the resistance sets, DA has less resistance with very little defense to make up for it. It relies on heals and soft controls to aid in survivability. Nobody mentioned Tanks or Brutes. Of the resistance sets within the Scrapper secondary sets, it has very little Defense, to make up for the 8% plus lower native resistance in most all categories. Without IO'ing the set out, it is "squishier" than most of the sets.
  14. Personal favorite is the dark melee/dark armor. It is a bit squishy, a bit endurance heavy, a bit lacking in AoE, and soft controls have been nerfed to oblivion; however it is just fun to run and gun. The PBAoE damage and endurance boosts beg for large spawns to jump into and start swinging. Loads of fun to target switch and swing away. While running SO enhancements, cloak of fear usually doesn’t hit until you fire soul drain. I like the Idea of gaining max Damage boost and THEN they all start getting scared. 😂
  15. Now that City of Heroes is back, I decided to bring back one of my first 50s. A tiny ball of fists and terror. With all the IO sets and ATO bonus', I figured it was time to start fixing the endurance issues that come with a sprinting "run and gun" play style. Unfortunately, I can't get creative enough to make it happen. I'd love to dump the need for conserve power, perhaps pick up Focused Accuracy or Tactics to help with the horrific accuracy on Cloak of Fear. However 15 million toggles (that I like to leave running), has kept me painted into a corner. I have looked into Unrelenting and Unleash Potential, but the massive cool downs seem counter productive for laying down ceaseless damage boosted attacks. Both Unrelenting and Unleash Potential peaked my interest and would love to build them into the toon... I mean, what's cooler than making powers that are written off to work, and work well. Perhaps wishful thinking... I'd love to get some input from the experienced miracle workers.
