I've been looking at Super reflexes for a while now. The increases Recovery and attack rate intrigue me. I also like that the defenses are locational(Ranged/Melee) I wanted to see if anyone had a SRef character that they were taking the whole way and if there were any glaring holes in their defenses? I'm seeing a lot of good, someone tell me the bad.

I'm looking to make a character for soloing. I want it to be a heavy knockback character. Not the most efficient but flinging enemies makes me laugh. I also hate dying, so Blaster is kinda out. I'm looking at Sentinal with E-blast, Is there a better highly survivable knockback expert than an E-blast sentinel with Willpower?
-
I love Energy Blast. The Knockback entertains me a lot. I know it's not a party friendly power, tanks understandably hate it. Thats why I've decided to make a Knockback specialist for soloing. Flinging Mobs all over the place will make me happy from time to time. He'll be a side character for when I need a break from my main. So my Question is, What is a good Armor for E-blast? I fiddled around with Energy but am unimpressed. I've got an Ice and a Radiation armor already so those are out. What do you suggest? I was Considering Super reflexes for the speed boost. Thoughts, experiences?

I go to work, My wife would divorce me and then murder me if I skipped work to game. I have a good handle on the hard Consequences of totally neglecting life, lol. I just used to be a creative person with goals. Now I'm a sentinel.

I'm new(?) I've not been in any solid parties since I came back. There've been a few threads trying to define the sentinel and I had a thought. Do groups in CoH pull mobs? It seams like the Sentinel is purpose built to be a puller to send it out into the mission to herd three or four large groups of mobs and drag them back to the awaiting party ambush. Do people play this way?
-
I feel like they should be able to do enough damage to draw some hate, since they can take the hits. Or maybe have one provoke type attack, just a single good hate generator so they can save it until they need to rescue the blaster. Make them a true Off tank.

I just unlocked Particle Acceleration. Is there any way to increase the recharge speed boost?

I've been playing one for a couple weeks and am loving it. It was explained to me as the CoH version of Iron Man. Tough as hell but fights with blasts instead of punches. Mine is Water/Radiation It's a resistance set, but I'm setting him out for regen so hopefully the damage will be reduced enough that he can just heal it faster than he takes

I've been working on that. I have tons of alarms on my phone. I just get mainlined into something and get hyperfocused. When the alarm goes off I hit the button but I don't listen. I suck at self discipline, but that's a Me problem.

I remember being a hardcore MMO guy back in the day. I abruptly walked away from the genre around the same time as CoH went down.(Not related, just coincidental) In the intervening years I learned a craft, Made a major move, gotten married, and started writing a book. Then, One night I was surfing around Youtube and saw a vid, Upcoming 2019 MMOs, so for the heck of it I hit play. I was half paying attention, then I heard it. At the edge of my perception I heard the host say, "City of Heroes" I perked up, and immediately hit rewind. I confirmed that this was real, and immediately downloaded Homecoming. I've been back for a month maybe, and I've already determined that this is sucking me in again. I no longer draw or write, I just pummel mobs. Productive me has been slain by Arachnos. but, I ain't mad about it. I'm glad it's back.

I played in live but my memory is garbage so I forgot all my math during the break. My tanker back in the day was a Willpower hyper-focused(at the cost of all other things) on regeneration so I never really gave much thought to Defense or Resistance because I could regen fast enough to eat all the damage(couldn't die but couldn't kill anything either.) Now I've made a Rad/Ice Brute(Defense) & Water/Rad Sentinel(Resistance) I enjoy both very much and want to take them all the way in levels, gear, and PvP if possible. However I don't know crap about Resistance and Defense, I've seen a lot of mention of "Soft/Hard cap" But honestly never bothered to learn what that means, lol. Is there a guide that I should look at or does someone want to give me the quick and dirty?

I have decided that I'm going as general support, Take the healing and res from the pool path, teleport friend, and be a ranged nuker that helps try to support the party with emergency heals, debuffsd, and lots of AoE splash damage.
-
Thanks for the recommendation. I've made a Water/Rad sentinel. I'm really starting to enjoy him more than my main. The sentinel playstyle of raining impervious doom from above really appeals to me. Radiation Armor even looks awesome for my character concept once I played with the color scheme.

I know I want Water Blast for my attack. the SR Quickness power, does it boost your rate of fire significantly? can it be improved with slotting? I want to focus everything on attacking as rapidly as possible.
-
Anyone played around with it yet?
-
I;m wanting to play around with resistance instead of defense and wondered which sets to look at.
-
I was curious about the refresh times of the various ranged sets. I'm considering making a rapid fire build. Lots of reduced recast time and reduced endurance costs so that I can spam nukes as quickly as possible. I'd like to start with the set that's fastest at its base. Is there a fastest ranged power or does it matter?
-
I'd also considered going with SR as my defense and slotting for refresh and rapid fire, but I wasn't sure if water had a decent enough rate of fire to begin with in order to put it into overdrive. I'll have to look at the powersets and see which one has the fastest attacks, or if they're all equivalent. I want to go nuts with the nuke spam.

I'm working on a Water/Willpower build tweaked for pure regen. I'm going for truly ridiculous passive regen levels, I'd max it if I could. It'll be a slow killer, but will never die.
-
Someone equated Sentinels with Iron Man in another thread. The Scene in the canyon, in the first film, where he's floating above blasting the weapons below is what my mind went to. Now I can't picture sentinels any other way.
-
I wouldn't mind going light on the travel powers, just hover, tele friend, and the 3 to raise dead. In mids, if i dont take a patron power i can fit it all in +fly.
-
I've made a Water Blast/Willpower. I'm looking towards my level 50 powerset. I'm inexperienced with WB but an old expert with Willpower. Are their any water blast powers I can skip or drop from my level 50 build? Also, How is Water Blast in PvP, or Sentinels in general? I'd love to arena with this character.
-
After playing my Sentinel for a couple more levels, I am entertained. My old Willpower tanker from Live was slotted for pure regen, 2 pieces from a ton of different sets, stacking regen to ridiculous levels. He was nigh invulnerable, but he was also in the enemies face for every punch. If I trick out this character the same way, since they're primarily ranged, he'll get hit much less often and regen too fast for anything to actually kill him. I had a lot of fun in PvP with my old rapidregen tanker, this could be great for the same reasons.
-
From examining the powers and abilities of the sentinel I think I've decided my role will be DPS and group survival. I'll take teleport friend and revive in the pool powers so i can save a group on runs.
-
Willpower and I are old friends, I had a SS/WPR in live. I was just not sure if I was missing something. It just seemed too easy to just be tough and blasty. but cool. If you're on everlasting, look out for Raw Sewage
