Oddly, I never read any of it as dismissive, just earnest suggestions/workarounds for the meantime. I must be having a oddly positive day today…

That's how it used to be back on Live for a time, then it got changed to "manually turn it off." I assumed the reason back then was "we're sick of getting the toggle on, only for that particular anchor dying too quick and having downtime to get the toggle moved." I still remember the begging of "please don't kill the anchor!" and people not paying attention. I prefer the occassional forgeting to turn it off manually and letting a corpse keep the toggle (until the corpse fades away). This means I can put the toggle on even minions and if they die in the right place, the debuff continues and is handy. Less micro-managing of anchored toggles.

/bind_save_file "[path to save location of your choice]" So in my case, I use this (I'm on a Mac, FYI): /bind_save_file "z:/Applications/City of Heroes/Bind Files/Saved/NameOfAlt.txt" When I joined Homecoming I was glad I am a bit of a digital packrat and I still had all my old bind files I could reference. 🙂

I guess barring an actual complete build, are there any threads where someone goes over all the corruptor primaries and secondaries in isolation and gives powers and slotting advice? Maybe I can frankenbuild something…
-
Anyone have a build they'd like to share for a Psi/Nature corruptor? Been enjoying it quite a bit even on SOs and figure it be worth investing in taking it up a notch. 🙂 Since I've been asked before, my wish list includes the Flight Pool (Hover and Fly) amd the Concealment Pool (Stealth). The stealth is there admittedly for the visual/concept (completely invisible except when attacking), but concepts are how I play (so a stealth IO doesn't work conceptually is it's visually not complete invisibility). But feel free to suggest other variations that I could modify myselt to suit. THANKS!

Not used to anyone asking such specific questions, so… Flight for travel power, though not necessarily hovering during combat. I've made alts with just flight an no hover if the build needs the power slot for something else. Also I sometimes get annoyed with looking through a wing-flapping alt in tight quarters. 😜 Pools/epics are negotiable and I'm okay with going redside to grab Scorpion Shield, though it is nice not to have to play a blueside, go red, then come back. Breaks my immersion a bit and becomes this annoyance I have to deal with. But, I know Scorpion Shield is a common go-to. I prefer more durable builds that have plenty of endurance and great accuracy. I level 0-50 the hard way so I end up having to team with people who love purple-cons and I prefer not to be dead too much or just plain useless. 😉 I'm not shy about spending on my builds if those expensive sets have a great net gain, but I also am not out to spend millions for tiny min/max gains either. So a balance is definitely a plus. Outside bog standard or 1-star ITFs, I rarely run TFs. Big plus if there are incarnate suggestions. But…I can usually wing it if needed. I noticed you had 5-slot…Boxing?…in the suggested S/L build. Never seen that before…is that a mule? Seems expensive to use Superior Blistering as a mule set so I'm just trying to wrap my head around the "why." Hope that helps.

Seems lately I have a knack for trying combos that don't have build suggestions in the forums, or that just aren't discussed much. Been poking around trying to find a good Savage Melee/Willpower setup. Even tried poking around in the Brute forums. Found a few discussions that died-off before any sort of final critique of "yeah, that looks good." Anyone have a final build they'd like to share?

Bumping this old thread…anyone have a decent Dual Pistols/Nature they'd like to share?

Bumping this old attempt…anyone have a decent Archery/Temporal build they'd like to share?

Doesn't look like this thread got much traction. Has anyone been happy with a solid Symphony/Sonic dom build through 50? I realize from some threads I found that it may be the worst pairing for a dom, but thematically it begs to be played…so I am. 😉 Gotten to the low 20s where I start thinking of finding a good build rather than winging it on SOs and intuition. Little help?
-
Yeah, she still plays okay and I'm too lazy to respec. I also wish I had put Shockwave in sooner; with KB-to-KD I find it quite useful as a way to defeat all the low-health stragglers after using Dreadful Wail. Considering my low-brain approach, I'm still very happy with how she turned out.

To be fair, I just used two of the reviews from the Collaborative Project: A Guide to Sentinel Sets thread and mashed them together. Most of the credit goes to @drbuzzard; the reviews were solid info I could use to make intelligent choices. If I had to start from scratch, well…that would have probably made my brain explode. 😜 I did make some small tweaks right near the end, but she is basically just as the build above shows. Harpy Holidays has now made it to 50 and is working on incarnate stuff. She's turned out to be quite a loud, enjoyable little terror to play. 🙂
-
Looks like Talons, definitely. T4s look close enough for my tastes, specifically Core to get the bird-lady. Thanks @biostem and @Psyonico from Harpy Holidays. 🙂
-
Thanks @biostem, but that caused as many questions as it tried to answer; so maybe I missed something? Talons and Knives are both red, and both have a plethora of units. For example some have wings, some don't, some are snake bodies, some aren't…how do I know which specific unit displays for that tier of Lore pet? I'm after the most harpy-looking ones (bird wings and legs or some combo thereof that suits what I want) even if it means stopping at, say, Tier 3 because the Tier 4s are snake women or something. Or take Radial instead of Core for the same reasons, etc. Yes, this is aesthetics over raw power. 🙂
-
I have a a harpy alt and am looking for a good visual/stylistic match. Am thinking Talons or Knives, but really want to see what the Lore pets look like for each combo and tier. Anyone have a visual reference?

The general gist is she is literally a screeching Christmas Harpy, so flight is a must. I didn't bother with Hover since one of the Electric Armor powers (Grounded?) requires being on the ground. Honestly Havoc Punch/Paralyzing Jolt/Rehabilitating Circuit/Shockwave were because I didn't know what else to use those 4 powers (Shockwave was skipped on the advice of the other build I referenced, but I added it back here since I had room). So I'm not married to those four. I am a very thematic player so trying to stict strictly to flying, screaming, and electricity for powers/visuals (hence Electric Mastery as my fill-in). Not adverse to patron powers if necessary, though would prefer to avoid the whole "go from blue to red, run the patron arc on easy, come back to blue" routine if possible. Not married to the order of powers except one: Flight at Level 4 (I always pick up travel powers there). My first time under the microscope, so be gentle. And don't get numbers centric: I get the gist of caps and such, but I don't have any aspirations to learn the specfic details and memorize what all the sets do and spend hours on this. Specific suggestions (replace X with Y) or you'll only make my eyes glaze over.

Because the reason I come here for builds is because I couldn't build my way out of a paper bag. Beyond simple SO/IOs, the rest is beyond me. 😉 Sure I do make small tweaks (I want a flyer, the build is a speedster, simple stuff like that). I know how to use MidsReborn to that end, but mashing two separate builds together always makes me feel like I may have missed a synergy or done something sub-optimal. And I don't like to respec alot, prefer one-and-done (or build as I go, starting at Level 1 so I don't have to respec), and builds posted in the forums have been really good in that regard. To be fair, it's fine because I'm not technically a min/maxer and if I a build is slightly less-than-perfect I'm okay with that generally. I just like the fancier Set builds created by more knowledgeable folks because they are more fun than basic IO or SO builds. In fact, I roughed out a Sonic/Elec sentinel last night based on power choice recommendations from the Sentintel Review thread. It'll do barring anything posted here soon.

Well it's that time of the year again, time for Harpy Holidays to awaken from her slumber. I see once again I have picked an oddball combination…no one here has a Sonic/Elec sentinel build they'd recommend? Feel like I'm going to have to frankenbuild something based on two other builds; not ideal but wouldn't be the first time. Anyone care to save me from that fate?

I like to play concept alts and have a soft spot for Poison. I found Poison/Dark alot of fun and easily recolored for a poison/toxic look (using a mix of Bright or Dark themes). A Water/Poison corrupter is alot of fun (and brutaly effective) so I bet a defender would be fun too, and also very easy to recolor for a poison/toxic feel.
-
Does anyone have a suggested Kinetic/Ice defender build? Just looking to up the ante a bit on a concept alt. Typically team-oriented build focusing on bosting damage boosting, healing, endurance refills. I play this alt mostly with people who don't min/max or even use IOs much, so I still want to have Siphon Power, Transfusion, and Transference at my fingertips. I actually like the idea of using Siphon Speed to boost recharge (fits the hyper/frentic, yet random concept). Honestly don't get a chance to use my attacks much right now since I'm spamming the other powers (running on SOs at Level 38 right now), but it would be nice if at least a few attacks had some teeth for when things are more stable on the team (or when joining teams who play set for tougher difficulties). And my Google-fu is failing to find me anything, or just steers me towards a corrupter. But that ship has sailed. 😜

I also likened Virtue to "RP Light" since you could "RP" insofar as "acting like your character would act" but without all the rules around how to talk in-character and out-of-character; people kinda knew and it was very casual (and made it super easy for non-strict RPers to "play aong" a little). So I got into the habit of writing little backstories and still do because it was/is fun. Since I am a "concept player" I also use the backstory as a base for how I build an alt: what powers they have, which they might skip, etc. And I look for bios on everyone on the team…they are rare on Torch, but fun when I see them. But even on Live, I rarely saw "tags" as described here, or anything obviously ERP-oriented (like gender, sexual orientation, preferences, etc.). I have seen it on Homecoming once or twice on Torch (which is the server I call home). Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Poison Powerset alternative animations.
CFIndustries replied to Paradox Fate's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
As much as I've made it work with the "hairball" animations (one cat, one skunk), I agree more people might play poison if even something as simple as the two generic styles of blast animations were available. -
I have a theme in mind for a new alt, but I am looking for the perfect powersets for it. The idea is a primary and secondary that are stun-heavy or anything that causes the "drunken wandering" or "standing still and wavering" animations (stuns, disorients?). Archetype doesn't matter, I'll make it work. For example, Howling Twilight for the disorient, that sort of thing. But what I was hoping is that there were some powersets that had more of this than others? Bonus if there is a great build for this idea. Maybe not, but figured I'd ask.
