  1. I definitely see a lot of overtly Christian angel characters hovering around Atlas Park; with names and/or backstories that are draw heavily from theological sources, rather than angelic/demonic superheroes. I've no issue with it, but I do find their abundance a little surprising - I didn't expect it to be sch a popular type of character to want to play as, especially within the CoX setting. Sidenote: the Supergirl you're referring to went on to have a 20 issue DC Comis series called Fallen Angel which I loved back in the day. The character then moved to IDW and had a second, longer series, but I did not like that at all.
  2. What's up with the large amount of characters based on angels/seraphim/fallen angels that I see? I don't remember there being such a significant presence when the game was live, but every third or fourth character I inspect seems to be some kind of angel character - fallen or otherwise. Is there a Biblical RP community Im unaware of? I am genuinely curious; it's not my intention to stoke a theological debate. I play exclusively on Everlasting, which is the primary hub/haven for RP, so my experience my be skewed. Still, I see more theological characters than classic comic book references. What is up with that?
  3. This was really kind of you, thank you so much!!!
  4. Hi all, I've done a few searches but been unable to find a build for this combination of powers. I've next to no experience with Dominators and would really appreciate having a build as a rough guide as I level. Does anyone have one they can share? Even an up-to-date Illusion/X build would be helpful. Many thanks!
  5. I'd love to see Power Proliferation in general. I know it's not feasible, but a boy can dream. I'd happily sacrifice one "standard" power if I could give my character Call Swarm or Call Hawk or whatever as the theme demands. War Mace for Stalkers! Probability Alteration for Controllers. A light based powerset (ala Dr Light) Carnival MM powerset Density Control Poison as a ranged set (Blaster primary) Psychic melee that was all "big fist" animations and not the Focused Totality Of My Psychic Powers. Rogue style power leeching
  6. I presumed this was the logic behind the decision. Though smashing someone across the head with a mace doesn't necessarily need to be a noisy affair. Bashing someone with a mace is a pretty surefire way to go unnoticed. Unnoticed by the person you brained anyway.
  7. Is there a specific reason that War Mace is unavailable to Stalkers? Are we likely to see it someday? I love my WM/DA Scrapper, but I'd love them even more if they were a Stalker.
  8. I do wish there was a way to decline a Contact introduction and still progress with the Contact that wished to make the introduction in the first place. I'm specifcally referring to Jim Temblor, who makes you pick up an old-school Skyway City Contact before introducing Penelope Yin.
  9. I have adopted this playstyle for a very long time, even back when I was playing Live, and played through that same low-level content countless times, for a couple of reasons. I tend to run every character I play on permadeath rules and the low level content (Habashy et al, Twinshit, The Hollows and the Kings Row Skull arc) is a great way to get a feel for if I want to continue playing a character past level 20. Some of those missions are incredibly challenging (the Confront Veles mission where Atta makes an appearance in a cutscene and Talshak's final CoT mission with the Behemoth portals spring to mind) for low level characters too. It's a nice way to get to know a character. I've also got a real thing for fully completing any Contact I'm introduced to. Running those low level missions is incredibly satisfying as it means, by level 20, I've a whole bunch of Contacts with full bars and complete story arcs. Then I can talk to Jim Temblor who will introduce me to my firt old-school Contacts where I have to start freezing my XP gain and really grinding mundane content alongside the Faultline story arc.. I'm definitely considering rolling a "Contactless" character that only runs missions for Contacts you can't avoid (Twinshit, Detectives, etc), just to mix things up, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who plays this way!
  10. Oh, I totally missed this. I'll have a read. Thanks so much!
  11. I typically follow @Gulbasaur's excellent Good Missions Guide: A Heroic Levelling Journey through Story Arcs for most of my characters, but I want to explore some alternative levelling methods to keep things interesting. How do you like to level your characters, typically? Do you have a series of well defined methods that you rotate, or one stretegy you employ time and time again? Do you still run through the old-school origin Contacts in City Hall? Are you focused on completing as much content as possible, or teaming with others from Level 1? I'm thinking of running a character that only interatcs with Contacts that you cannot avoid (Twinshot, etc) and levels mostly through Safeguard missions and Task Forces. Maybe. So, yeah, how do you like to level?
  12. Yeah, you're absolutely right. I would be satisfied with the generic Tights/Full option, but I have a specific character in mind for whom this option would be ideal, so am somewhat biased. The same applies to the sneakers too.,
  13. Title says it all; it would be amazing to have a Tights option for the Sneakers and Small Gloves/Small Gloves Pointed costume pieces. Currently the Sneakers costume piece has two variations - Skin and Socks. Both Small Glove costume pieces show a significant amount of skin from elbow to wrist. It would be amazing if there were a Full or Tights option that allowed these costume pieces to instead have traditional spandex all the way to the ankle/wrist.
  14. I've a concept I was thinking of rolling as a Dark/Sonic Blaster. I've not really played a Blaster before at any great length, so thought I'd see if this powerset combo had been discussed previously. As far as I can tell, it hasn't. Not on these forums anyway. Is the Dark/Sonic coupling inherently bad, or is there a viable build in there somewhere? What kind of playstyle would it require? Does anyone play as one?
  15. Thank you for such a thoughtful response - this is all really helpful information. I've done exactly as your friend did and followed that end-game build from L1. The biggest hurdle I'm facing so far is my lack of attacks, With regards to which powers to choose and when to choose them, do you have any advice? No worries if not, I'm already very grateful for your input!
  16. Hi all, in honour of yesterday's wonderful news, I decided to roll a new character and my first Brute! I've been following @Hyperstrike's build found in this thread, but it seems like an endgame build that one might respec into after reaching level 50. Would anyone be able to kind provide a build I could follow whilst levelling from 1-50 please? I've never played a Brute before and would really appreciate a guide I can follow so I can focus on stomping stuff! Thanks so much 🙂
  17. If you find yourself overly senstive and/or receptive to portayals of adult mediocrity, then that sounds like a skill issue on your part. Do better. Or don't - it seems like less is more in this instance. If you are concerned that you're being made obsolete by fictional stories that attempt to represent the world as it actually is and always has been (diverse and better for it) then, I promise you, you already are obsolete. That you think a white protagonist accepting help from capable women, PoC or LGBT+ people "sullies" superhero fiction makes it abundantly clear the lens through which you view those people in real life. Your opinion is an ill-fitting lid trying to hide a much more insidious, trash rhetoric. This take is shameful, you should be ashamed and great creators like Jack Kirby, Dwayne McDuffie and Stan Lee would have disliked you immensely.
  18. That's certainly one solution, although, ultimately, removing the level cap from all Contacts would be preferable for me. From a story-telling standpoint, I've never really understood the rationale behind "these threats aren't worth your time, hero". Crime is crime, and threats to the lives and safety of citizens need a response - why shoud a Contact care what level you are? Iconic superheroes regularly combat B, C and D-list villains regardless of their own power level and it's not uncommon to see foes - once thought to be a minor threat - return to challenge a hero in new, unexpected ways. I've no issue with facing high level Hellions or Skulls. I just want the arbitrary restriction on content accessiblity lifted. I'd like to move a contact to the inactive category because I've chosen to do so, or because I've taken the time to complete all the content they have to offer.
  19. 1. Removal of the level cap on all Contacts Once I hit that minimum level requirement for a Contact, I want to be able to do their content without worrying about outlevelling them. 2. The ability to decline Contact introductions Being forced to accept Jim Temblor's introduction to an old-school Contact in order to gain access to Penelope Yin and the content that follows after infuriates me every time. I would love to the ability to decline an introduction permanently so I can focus on playing content I enjoy without having a messy, incomplete Contact list. 3. The Ability to Dismiss Conctacts We can do it for Detective Contacts. I'd like that option for all Contacts. Twinshot, for example, I'd happily dismiss on most of my characters if the option were available.
  20. I do. I'm very grateful for the spreadsheet and am using it and updating it every time I play. This thread is very helpful. I just wanted to clarify something that confused me (as it did Captain Fabulous) before I did something that may have permanently curtailed my efforts. Okay.
  21. So this is in line with what Perfect Square positied as well. I mean, on one hand, if this is correct, that reduces the number of Contacts I have to run through significantly. I was planning on being at level 9 for at least another 1.5 weeks. On the other hand, it's very frustrating not knowing for sure if I can now tick off all level 5-9 content as fully done and move on to the new Contacts I've been assigned. I'm just waiting for the rug to pulled from under me and discover that I've locked myself out of a whole bunch of Contacts...
  22. Apologies for the thread necro, but Ive encountered a confusing turn of events in my endeavour and would very much appreciate some guidence from @Snarky and anyone else that can help! [Edit: this is in relation to completing every contact Blueside on a single character] Okay, so, I've been paused at level 8 for about a week now. Contacts-wise, I've completed Paco Sanchez, Tony Kord, Ron Hughes, Samuel Pierce and Vic Johansson from the 5-9 level range. I had no more contacts, save Shauna Stockwell (who is 7-20). I allow myself to level up (to level 9) so that my Contacts can start introducing me to new people but, despite having 10+ Contacts within the 5-9 level range I've yet to even speak with, they begin introducing me to contacts in the 9-14 level range that are mostly based in Steel Canyon/Skyway City. As it stands, Genevieve Sanders, Henry Peter Wong, Juana Jimenez, Kip Cantorum, Laurence Mansfield, Maurice Feldon, Linda Summers, Paula Dempsey and Rachel Torres haven't been introuced to me in any capacity, despite them all being within the 5-9 level range. Even when I physically approach them, they tell me to speak with a Wes Schnabel in Steel Canyon, despite my only being level 9. Is there a reason for this? Did I do something wrong? @Perfect Square kindly offered the following theory via Discord, Is this correct?
  23. I love the walk emote and use it frequently (whenever I am on "official" or "formal" ground like Atlas Park, a University, a tram station platform, etc) but, my goodness, is every NPC deliberately trying to get in my way? It's like they have future-sight and can predict my movements. Am I projecting, or is there something in the NPC's code that makes them want to get in my f@#k:n! way?
  24. I just wanted to thank you for this post. I've decided to go in a different direction for my current character, but your post has made me reconsider writing off Regen completely.
  25. This a good point. I'd like to think there would be an element of good faith in such a race - I guess there's no way to check a player's slotting.
