  1. Not OP, but I'm personally delighted to have a full mace attack chain on Arachnos soldier. Just delighted.
  2. Hi, I play an elec/temporal blaster. The first "rule" of playing City of Heroes is, pick powers you think are worthwhile. Hard stop. Since you asked, though... The first two power in a blaster's primary and the first power in their secondary can be fired through any mez that is applied to you. This is extremely helpful, and I point it out because you mention skipping Charged Bolts. You should take all three. For Elec/ powers, Tesla Cage and Zapp have more functionality than might be apparent. I believe Tesla Cage is the power that can let your electric powers do additional damage via the "Shocked" mechanic. You don't have to have it active on a target, simply owning it lets you do additional damage with all of your electric attacks. This is the hold to keep, even if the other holds seem more useful. Zapp is a snipe, when used out of combat. Its range is 150 feet, compared to 80 for most of your other attacks. Outside of combat, it takes several seconds to animate. IN combat, however, the animation is halved (if not more), and it functions like a more-powerful Lightning Bolt - i.e., a standard ranged blast with relatively high damage. Lastly, Voltaic Sentinel follows you and adds additional damage; it's not stationary. A better question, for picking which powers to use, might be: do I want to attack through melee or ranged attacks? Personally, I rarely take the melee attacks on blasters. The Electric secondary has a lot of melee attacks, if that's what you prefer. That might help you self-select a clearer slate of powers. If going more melee-centric, then Zapp might indeed be the right power to skip, maybe in favor of Arcane Bolt.
  3. Howdy! After burning through a backlog of recipes, I noticed that my badge counter was not quite completing the full set. For instance, I'm at 11/12 for level 25/30 defense/resist IO crafting. I've made easily five or six more since I noticed it "close to completion." Can't quite ding the final 12th one. Also true on level 25 healing IO, not getting credit for making the full amount, even though I'm creating a bunch of them. Character on Everlasting. Is there a badge trick I'm missing, or is this a bug? Asked over in the badge forum, too.

  5. Depends on "good," but just riffing on character names. Just checked these, currently free as of this writing. Heavy Crown Gravi-Star Apple-Bomb (supposedly what fell on Newton's head, right?) Downfell and Felldown Lift-Off I'm personally having a hard time with a *ahem* patriotically-themed shield tanker. Guard-Star, Star-Ward, Sunguard. Trying to think of something more like Statesman, to avoid infringing on Captain America. Big fan of these two sites for inspiration: Seventh Sanctum - Superhero/Villain Name Generator Superhero names (fantasynamegenerators.com)
  6. I've got a 40-something Invuln/Super Strength Tanker and am thinking about how to slot IOs. What's the most effective way to get the Gaussian build-up proc in the build? (Of course, is this even a good goal?) Is it best put into Rage? Two-minute clicky? Or one of the to-hit toggles, like Tactics or Focused Accuracy? Or in the defense toggle, Invincibility? Thanks for any thoughts.
  7. My own street justice/ninja scrapper is inspired by Daredevil. Cloaking isn't quite his thing, but he'll be able to leap out of nowhere and start laying down the hurt. Ninja also helps explain how he can sorta see attacks before they happen, being a defense set. Shame the shinobi power doesn't overlap with infiltration as a stealth, but ninja run is still handy.
  8. OldLost, the first power in Shield is better slotted as a defense power, not a resistance power. Looking at the build, you have an excellent 50% chance to defend against Area-o-Effect, but melee and ranged positional defense is much lower, at 32.5% or so. That's still covered by a small purple inspiration to hit the vaunted 45% soft cap for defense, but you'll find need less purple inspirations if you slot Deflection the same way you slot Battle Agility. You also chose both hover and combat jumping. Are we able to run both of those at the same time? If I was doing this, I'd drop one of those to pick up True Grit, and stick those enhancements currently in Tough into True Grit. And I'm a very new poster, just getting reacclimated to City of Heroes. Take others' advice before mine.
  9. Much obliged, StrikerFox! I dig your profile picture. While I was fiddling with new Mids, I felt silly reaching into Fighting to get the third power for Weave, but I think you're right. Might be a little more brawler than battlefield leader (with more Fighting than Leadership pool). Less priority of Focused Accuracy, Hasten, and Conserve Power, too, at least until I remember why and how I enjoyed this build so much ten years ago 😄
  10. First time back in City of Heroes, and I'm recreating my old main. It's a Martial Arts/Shield Defense scrapper, mostly resembling a Captain America-type vibe. What are the little things I'm missing to get the character to soft-cap defense of 45% or so? Any comments regarding slotting or power choice welcome, within the powersets.
