This was an excellent explanation; thank you! COH is the only game of its kind that I have ever played, so "proc" is a term that I was heretofore unfamiliar with. I am starting to investigate the different enhancements now and am looking for the appropriate procs. Question: What does "Chance for build up" actually MEAN? -

Thank you for this. Let me explain further: I've been playing for ~20 years now, and as an old dog, new tricks sometimes come hard. I really find the whole Enhancement system beyond TOs, DO/SOs, and IOs to be overwhelmingly complex; frustratingly so. I really, really, really don't have the patience to go through all of the minutiae of each power, eat enhancement, each set. Give me a goal and I will grind away for the inf or salvage to get it; fine - but beyond slotting IOs or the AT sets that are spelled out (Command of the Mastermind, for example), it's all way too much for my taste. For this build, I am looking for: 1. Survivability. I want to be able to engage a large mob at +3/+4 and have faceplanting be the exception rather than a probability. This build has gotten me close - the combination of Oppressive Gloom and Choking Cloud makes a melee surprisingly survivable, especially if the bots are well controlled. Having all of the debuffs helps as well, of course. 2. Damage. Can't have one without the other! Obviously the MM is a little low on the offense, so the bots need to be picking up the slack. I debuff, they shoot is the thought process, though obviously each spills over into the other's AOR at times. 3. Support. Both for myself/bots and my team. Regarding Mids: Yeah, I probably haven't played with it enough, but I find the user interface non-intuitive. Is there a user guide somewhere? I did not see one in a casual look through the Github or in the app's menu system. Incarnate: Yeah, it's annoying that the build save file does not include this. For the record, as of this moment: Alpha: Musculature Radial Paragon Judgement: Pyronic Core Final Judgement (love this one!) Interface: Diamagnetic Core Flawless Interface (last one to max out) Lore: Robotic Drones Core Superior Ally (one-shots a lot of minions) Destiny: Barrier Radial Epiphany Hybrid: Support Core Embodiment I'll try to make the suggested changes without doing yet another respec. -
One of the worst pain points of a Mastermind on Live was that your pets only lasted as long as the mission - so every time you entered a new mission, you had to summon and upgrade all over... It took a good minute or two, as (using Robotics as an example) Upgrade Robot and Equip Robot had to be applied to each Robot every time. By the time you were finished, the team was seemingly halfway through the mission. 🙂 Well, obviously that all got fixed - bots soon survived, and the Equip and Upgrade became targeted AOE powers, making life much more bearable - and happened automagically on entry and exit. Now, the final pieces of the puzzle - Maintenance Drone and Combat pets like Shield Drone must still be summoned at every mish entry. Can this be fixed up too? It would avoid even that small delay before one can be completely ready to start a mission.

I have found it to be the most frustrating piece of software. I will readily admit that I am not really into studying percentages and values and squeezing every last drop out of enhancements; it's just not my thing. Do I want the build to be awesome? Sure! Am I willing to spend hours to get in there? Not so much. And yes, I was trying to make a build based on the advice given in toto above; do Frankenslotting for pets, 2 IOs maxed out is fine, etc. If these are specific sets I *must* have then I will be glad to slot them, but that's contrary to what I was gleaning from the above. -

What is the "PM set"? You guessed it. The bots do most of the work. I will sometimes throw in a Pulse Rifle Blast (Burst seems useless) or a Nemesis Staff to pick off runners that the boys are too busy to take care of, but other than that, I am debuffing, holding, watching toggles and health (and healing as neeed). The only attacks I use regularly are Ptronic Core Final Judgment and Night Fall. That makes perfect sense. Thanks! -

I have a character whose toggles - mostly defense - are taking up too much endurance, Assume that all reasonable slots on selected powers have as many Level 50 End Reduction IOs as reasonable, and Stamina is slotted with 6 level 50 End Mod IOs as well. What would you do differently or in conjunction with this to use less End or recover it faster?

I realize that I am necrothreading here, but as this was pretty on-point.. The RNG must have it out for me as well. This power NEVER monkified me before - I mean, maybe once in 1000 uses, or whatever insanely small number like that. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have ever hit it, and I've had it and used it constantly since it became available on multiple toons. Over the last few weeks, however, I've hit it a number of times. Maybe 3 in the last few days alone - to the point where suddenly I will only pop it before or after a mission. I actually searched on the topic because I figured that if it had been finagled with that someone would be talking about it, but maybe this just isn't my month to play the lottery or something.

Sadly, I may have to try one or both of these soon. If smacking headfirst into a building caused damage, flying in Grandville at night would have me hosp'ing 5x just to go see Lord Recluse. Thanks for making this easier for us old farts to play!

What does City of Heroes mean to you?

I am not a gamer. I'll say it again - I am NOT a gamer. ...But COH is my game. I am way too busy with real life most times to spend much recreation time, and can truthfully say that there are two games I ever played with any regularity - COH and Subspace. Subspace is basically "I have 10 minutes to spare, let's fly a ship and kill things with others", whereas COH is how I can unwind. Have fun. Forget whatever might need forgetting for a while. That said, at sunset, I was bummed, but not devastated. I moved on and accepted the shutdown, but part of me missed my bots, so I grabbed the client, ripped out the sound effects, and installed the shield sound effect as my text message tone. 🙂 When I got an invite to the Server That Shall Not Be Named, I was beyond excited and happy, and remain grateful to those who started it. Now I'm here, and it's the same as it ever was, but I am very happy to see the hard work being put into the game here at Homecoming. I'm on a playing kick now; will it last? We shall see. Like I said - life is pretty damned busy. Outside of that, all I can say is that I'm drawn in by the gameplay, not so much the storylines, costumes, or minutiae like how much a level 35 SO enhancement augments damage versus a level 40 DO enhancement. The game is gorgeous and plays well, and has enough variety to keep it interesting, and that's enough for me. - BT -
If the next mish door turns out to be the same door or within a few hundred yards, tt is not needed. No sense burning it and not having it when the next mish is in another zone. 23. Not every character is as fast as you, so don't be so eager to run off to the next mob all by yourself. MMs in particular have to wait for pets to catch up, even if the character can move fast, but not everyone has a speed power to begin with.
