Personally, I am 100% over the “here’s this solo superhero, yes other superheroes exist but this movie won’t reference or involve them at all, except at the very end where someone makes a cameo to show you how this world is interconnected”. Just, no. We have 0 idea how much screen time the non-Superman heroes are going to have. I know “wait and see” is anathema to a lot of people, but what if we tried it just one time.

Yes, RDJ carried Iron Man and much of the entire franchise. I don’t think anyone would argue that. The Evans FF movies are bad. Johansson’s movie was terrible and didn’t come out until after her character was dead. Not exactly “carrying a franchise”. Jackson was the lead in exactly 0 movies. Cumberbatch is the closest to a “non-original” Avenger that carried his own movies. The fact is, they didn’t market Phase 1 as “check out this new Chris Evans/Hemsworth/Pratt movie!” It was about the IP, not the cast.

Chris Evans was not a bankable star before Captain America: First Avenger. Chris Hemsworth was not a bankable star before Thor. Tom Holland was not a bankable star before Spider-Man: Homecoming. Chadwick Boseman was not a bankable star before Black Panther. Chris Pratt was not a bankable star before Guardians of the Galaxy (The Lego Movie *did* come out the same year, so perhaps this one is squishier) Some of the worst MCU movies were built on the backs of 'bankable' stars. This isn't the issue. If it's about 'which of these relatively unknown leads since Endgame could hold down a trilogy', then there have been some real missteps and tragedies there, not all within Disney/Marvel's control (Boseman, Simi Liu, etc.). Of all the post-Endgame leads, I personally find Iman Vellani the most charismatic, but how many people even know that's the name of the actress who plays (played?) Kamala Khan?

There's probably some middle ground between "Oscar bait" and "worst reviewed film currently in theaters", lol. You don't necessarily need to have high hopes for a movie for it to still be disappointing. Sometimes even middling hopes are dashed. Glad OP enjoyed it, though!

Seeing this thread for the first time because of your sig, just wanted to mention: you can also get the Ouro Portal by going to Recluse's Victory (in City Hall). Once you zone in, it sets your level to 50, and boom, Ouro portal.
