  1. Honestly, unabashed salesmanship in the form of a 'LOOK AT THIS NEXT THING' stinger is exactly the kind of thing Stan Lee was about, so maybe it was the *best* choice.
  2. I personally am very ready for Marvel fandom generally to move away from the notion that Stan Lee requires some sort of obeisance.
  3. I miss the days when "In Before The Lock" was a thing.
  4. This is where the discourse is at, huh?
  5. What's to garner interest? Scummy TV creator does scummy things, is fired. This dude's career is over.
  6. How many Topics can this forum handle that start with, "[IP X] Fans Say {some crap we read online]"
  7. Would very much enjoy a Batman Incorporated animated.
  8. I keep getting this series confused with Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. I really enjoy that movie even though Ultraman sounds like a terrible mobster impression, and the best character in the movie (Owlman) is voiced by the worst human in the cast (James Woods).
  9. Asking people great questions as they become increasingly unable to answer them is pretty much the point of Hot Ones. I'm a bit of a hipster about that show, in that I much prefer the early episodes before they became a part of every big movie/album's press tour, but it still holds up. There are multiple compilations on YouTube of guests being blown away by the Hot Ones research team.
  10. The MCU movies have been pretty hit or miss when it comes to star power translating to box office. From the Phase 1 through 3 movies, four were headlined by relatively little known (or more specifically, 'unknown commodities vis a vis box office draw') actors: Thor (Hemsworth), Guardians (Pratt), Black Panther (Boseman), Spider-Man: Homecoming (Holland). (I excluded Evans because of Fantastic Four, but he could probably be added to this list). Those four have an average box office of $387,116,982; that would be good for the #14 spot if it was one movie (Black Panther is doing a lotta lifting here, with a $700M take by itself). Post-Phase 1, the MCU itself was the lead. By contrast, the bottom of the MCU box office rankings is littered with well-known leads: The Marvels, Incredible Hulk*, Ant-Man, Black Widow, Eternals and Shang-Chi are the non-sequels with the worst box offices. Hulk is a weird one since nobody knew what the MCU was then. I don't know who people consider the 'lead' of Eternals, but none of the top 4 or 5 names in that cast are or were unknown. Shang-Chi probably lays the most claim to 'check out this newish actor'. I...kinda lost the thread of this rabbit hole, but I think the point is, the broader movie-going public doesn't care if these actors are known or unknown. They just want good movies. And there are fewer new, upcoming actors being cast because studios have largely stopped making the kinds of movies that would generate buzz about an exciting new face. Hell, everyone keeps calling Glen Powell a fresh new face, and that guy is currently five years older than Evans was when the latter made the first Cap movie.
  11. I do wonder, of the folks who enjoyed the Snyder film, how many had read the comic before they saw the movie.
  12. I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek; the same two dozen actors get name checked every time there's speculation or fan-casting. At least we seem to finally be moving away from Nathan Fillion as a leading man playing a canonically mid-20s character.
  13. This is sorta the crux of casting Doom for me. Casting RDJ seems like a clear signal that he won't be in the mask much. Just get Hardy in there and let him invent an Authentic Latverian Accent.
  14. Oof, yeah that’s legit. Hope you’ve avoided spoilers so far! For a comedy show, there’s some legit pathos woven throughout.
  15. If Tough and Weave don't have any EndRedux in them now, then yes, they should have EndRedux. Personally, I typically fill the base slot with an EndRedux as soon as I get those powers, then the next slot gets an End/Resist and End/Def, respectively. Usually your end consumption comes more from spamming attacks than it does your toggles (and TW even moreso). Tough and Weave might be consuming a combined .64/sec, but your attacks (at base) cost about 3x that amount. How do you have your attacks slotted?
  16. Oh good catch, I haven't played around with new TK yet.
  17. The following is me splitting the difference between 'helpful' and 'super deep dive into crunchtown'. Hope it's useful! 1. MC is considered better on Dominators due mostly to the Archetype Inherent Powers. Domination increases the magnitude and duration of your controls. For example, Dominate (the single target hold) has a base magnitude of 3 (meaning it can hold Lieutenant level mobs with one hit, but not Bosses) and a base duration of about 18 seconds. When Domination is active, that magnitude becomes a 6 for the normal duration (18 seconds), and then a 3 for another 9 seconds. On the Controller side, their inherent power (Containment) allows them to do double (base) damage to any target that is Held, Immobilized, Slept or Stunned. Mind Control suffers here in that, unlike most of the Controller primary sets, it has no reliable way to apply and maintain Containment on multiple targets. Most sets have an Area of Effect Immobilize; Mind instead has a Sleep (which ends as soon as damage is done, so no more Containment) and a very long recharge / short duration Hold. I'd say the tradeoff is that you get an Area of Effect Confuse, but Dominators get that too and theirs can Confuse more enemies (because Domination means it affects Bosses).* 2. Darkness Affinity is the support version of Dark, so quite different from Darkness Control. DA does a lot of things and does them well. What makes it better than Dark Miasma, which Corruptors/Defenders/Masterminds get, are Fade and Soul Absorption. Fade by itself can get an entire team 33% of the way to the (soft) defense cap, meaning most enemies will have only a 5% chance to hit you, which is as low as that chance can get) Soul Absorption can end an entire team's Endurance issues. *see @EmperorSteele's note below re: new Telekinesis for new info on this outdated section
  18. You folks can't access it through Amazon Prime or Apple TV? That show is my favorite comics-related piece of media ever; I'd pay a buck an ear to get it.
  19. A Kite-Man spinoff makes all the sense in the world if you've seen the Harley Quinn animated show (and if you haven't, what the heck are you waiting for).
  20. Always down for stories about Gotham in which Batman doesn't appear. It's a great big city with a lot of stuff going on; it's cool to see the camera focus on something other than Bruce Wayne.
  21. Yeah but these are kind of my point. What I found rewarding about this was novelty, camaraderie and maybe a bit of nostalgia. The late-game funnel of endlessly repeating WSTs, ITF, MCs, TinPexes etc starts to lose some of its luster when you’re T4ing your 30th level 50. Maybe it “cost” me an extra hour of in-game time. Comparing that hour to the maximum in-game rewards received doing something else is both not at all reflective of how I spend my game time, and kind of sad. As always, ymmv
  22. I suppose that depends your definition of fun. Personally I enjoy the lower level TFs specifically because they’re a challenge. I think I’d argue that a +4 Posi 1 presents a larger crunch challenge than an ITF HM of any star level, and asks more of player ability. YMMV, O’course! (I did once join a Posi where the lead selected the options to turn off both temps and enhancements, without the tram knowing; that was not fun)
  23. Ah nice, hey there! Absolutely agree, it was a fun time and felt legitimately heroic!
  24. Nope! She just showed up and started laying waste with her AoE -Def attacks. As our support characters were more geared toward debuffs than buffs, she took down a lotta folks with her opening salvo.
