Empathy power set in the modern City of Heroes
Krazix replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
I've played since release, and before coh I was an eq junkie, so we'll versed in the holy Trinity. CoH was such a a breath of fresh air because it really was bring the player , not the class ( at/power set). There's not been a single time I've played CoH I wished for an empathy defender on the team. Even from day one they seemed like they had less to offer than many other sets. But I also mained a shaman in EQ, so I was a huge fan of debuffs. -
Enemies and Ceilings, just click the thread.

Seems like every synapse gets at least one clockwork stuck in the ceiling, and 1 of 3 of those that I run, that ceiling clockwork can't be hit to finish the mission even blasted PBAoE at it -
-res or -hp interface, -hp if you plan to solo hard targets a lot. The -regen is basically trash. Grab envenom daggers off start to help with -Regen. Ageless radial so you don't have to crutch the t9 for DDR. Plus recharge and a faster casting end refill. Barrier core if you want to ever do 4* groups , it will be expected that you have it. Demons radial for a massive -to hit debuff and minor -regen debuff. Otherwise your choice is fine for DPS. You did not take confront , so you may want to pick up melee radial for it's taunt aura for tough solos, where you may need some taunt. But other than that assault core or radial either is fine. The parses for "best" aren't that far apart, but one can be made irrelevant with team buffs, the other can't. I take the PBAoE judgement on most characters, cause it's fun and I like fun. I have never felt "dang I wish I had ion instead" My latest scrapper has both vigor and musculature. Mainly cause I had emps to spare and I thought I'd see how that extra accuracy worked out. I like it , but I probably won't take it again on a scrapper. Good in brutes though.

I think they're called dreck maps. They're popular for massive fire farm maps but not afk, you have to move from group to group.

People who wait till half the team has run off or gone through an oro before they say TT, especially on a speed TF when we're blowing through TTs, then everyone mills about for a few second and you don't say shit, so everyone takes off then you decide to share your TT.

Skipping slash is fine on tight builds. your real damage is snipe, focus, and shockwave, slash is just filler and with 5 piece hecatomb that -res proc won't proc often(typical slash slotting), so having strike to just eat up that last second of crit strikes is fine. Confront is really only needed if your a dedicated scrapper tank, the taunt aura should carry you through random tanking duties in all non-starred TFs if you find yourself as the only tank. That said it can be nice to have it to control AV's especially if you get with a bunch of storm characters or soemthing loading them up with tornados. Keep it if you like it. You're way over invested into defense. You have no DDR so there's no point in chasing defense caps. Change all those hami defense to LOTG recharge mules, drop all the slots from weave put them in inexhaustible, and give it 5pc panacea. steal the panacea proc form health and put it in there as part of yoru 5 pc. drop a miracle or numina proc into health. On bio you're looking for max hp, recharge, recharge debuff resistance, then pump up your s/l/e/n resists, and pretty much ignore defense. You get some token e/n/f/c defense ranodmly in the set, and thats all you need. go ahead and toggle on weave if it makes you feel better, but don't invest slots into it. move critical strikes proc into follow up, and replace that hold proc with it. with proper proc slotting of critical strikes into follow up it should trigger often, like 75% of the time you hit follow up (which should be at the front of every attack chain you do), you should proc crit strikes. move your scrappers strike set into your damage aura, and your armageddon into spin. 5 pc hecatomb into strike. proc slot powers or don't. recharge kills procs, loading an attack half with recharge half with damage procs is killing hte proc rate, and the damage of the power. If you want 3-4 dam procs in a power, you put acc/dam, dam/end, acc/dam/end from your sets. stay away from recharge, and don't take agility or that other alpha with recharge reduction (destiny ageless is fine, it counts as global recharge, not slotted recharge). if you take ageless radial i think you only need 85% recharge resist from winters to stay recharge resist capped.

What do you think is the strongest two-person duo?

Axe/bio scrapper + illusion/kin controller would be my pick I think . -

DEFCON 5: Defender vs Controller - Which is the Better Support AT?
Krazix replied to Dark Current's topic in Archetypes
That was the first mayham mission I've done , and first time for any of those reside missions actually. So I was mostly trying to follow you or the brute to see where I was supposed to be going. And yeah I'm claws/bio armor. I think in your review you wondered on my powers. I had alpha unlocked but nothing built and was still working to unlock others. So fresh 50 basically -
Ranged focused Brute: Is it possible, effective, or just crazy?
Krazix replied to taigakirdape's topic in Brute
Most top end builds for brutes, tankers, scrappers and stalkers take ranged attacks from epics and make use of them. But they're added to the normal rotation. The idea of sitting at range on a Brute and just using blasts is not a good one. Especially like you said, since sentinel is right there, and your blasts will be taunting things anyway so very soon you won't be at range anyway. -
There is a problem with SBB though in that if you load too slow and 3 people pick a role and enter the warehouse before you enter the instance, it will start the cutscene and you are locked out of picking a role. you just get teleported to the warehouse sans role when you load in.

Axe/Bio is the obvious answer, its the new TW / Bio. But axe is great on anything as long as you can handle the endurance it uses. An unexpected fun combo was Axe/Ice/Ice. Cyclone them into your slow aura, helps with the lack of tuant to keep them creepin' plus you can cyclone them back or get em range with cleave or the ice attacks if they do manage to escape. Energy Melee/Rad is also fantastic if you like to do massive damage to single targets. /Rad helps shore up the AoE weakness of EM. Shield can help as well but I prefer rad for the recharge reduction built in and endless endurance that comes with rad. Claws is also amazing. And goes with every armor set. Some of my favorites have been claws/ Dark, Bio, Rad, Energy, Stone, Invuln, even Willpower was fun to level, but it peters out in the 50+ content, just can't hold up like other armors. My MA/Shield is super fun. But it's definitely a lvl 50 build it was a little touch and go leveling and required a massive amount of recovery serums to make it to 50. Some other fun ones, that I just kind of abandonded along the way and haven't yet got to 50.. katana/ninja - pretty self explanatory, and Divine Avalanche helps with ninj lower defense while leveling. Should be able to fix it all by 50 and not have to rely on DA in a finished build though. Warmace/Rad - rad helps with the endurance hungry nature of warmace, warmace has some soft controls to help give you some breathing room before heal and bubble. Sadly WM is just outclassed by axe now, but that doesn't make it bad, its still fun and effective. Savage/SR , was very fun to level it just left me feeling lacking at 50 is all. Combination of no taunt aura and lower ST damage made 50+4 EB's and higher a pain in the butt because they'd always be running.
