  1. Something i have been playing around with. Endurance issues are pretty much non existant. Great damage - going with assault radial makes that even better and if you use ageless radial it adds defense debuff resistance for the melee defense with is very high on this build. Omega Infinitum - Tanker - (Dark Armor - Dark Melee).mxd if you have any questions please feel free to fire away.
  2. Ill tell you a funny story, I recently converted Lodestarr to a Fire Energy Tank because it seemed to synergize more. FIre Psi is still very very good though. Let me ask you this, what are the three most important gameplay aspects you are looking for out of a tanker?
  3. I'll take misrepresentation for 100 alex.
  4. I dont need proof of that, I know this and have said the same thing. It is a buff that scales down, its max buff is not perma, and there are usually better uses of a destiny, because on most tank builds barrier is overkill. I have it on my fire tank and thats about it - fire being the weakest set with no native defense - its very useful on it.
  5. Well, thats an easy one. The value lies in a baseline telling you how various builds compare. If they are all buffed to cap by outside influences then you cant truly tell how the build itself performs in a vacuum against other sets. With that you would never know if one was underperforming. Thats why I always advise at the baseline.
  6. No, haha I'm not, barriers total buff does not last for its duration, it scales down. Someone of your knowledge knows this, so at best you are misrepresenting it. 1. Because its fun for me 2. Um ok. 3. Because I choose not to use a crutch - and dont really need it cause my build is unkillable, sustainable and fun as it is - and I like it that way Quoting the below "I did: End quote Yeah, 9 days apart. And I agree with the tanker ATO part its crucial But you kinda misrepresented there because I wasnt the only one wondering how you got those numbers, and was about to call BS on them but was distracted by the guy that was saying invul was weak in the first place. Again, Destinys IMO aren't perma mitigation cause they are a scaling buff and hard to quantify how to describe in a build advice as a baseline. No, not entirely. It's semantics, but you are passing tactics off as build, and in reality they are two separate things. A build is what you level, slot and put in game how it is 100% of the time without influencers. Tactics are what you can use to make your build perform better some perma some not. To newer players and especially people asking for build advice its important they understand that a baseline can do X and tactics will allow you to do Y.
  7. Its All subjective, and none of then are really wrong or incorrect. I never said they were - basically for me - 1. whatever I can level up. 2. Set bonuses - enh 3. Incarnate to permanently - alpha, interface, and persistent hybrid buff. 4. Permanent accolades. That's where I place my baseline cause you can then say - hey this is what you can do without any outside assistance - and I usually attempt to make that part 99% unkillable based on that. I'm not at all opposed to using any external buff, I usually have inspies in email for just such an occassion - but I don't include that as a baseline build - for advice. That falls into the tips and tricks category. I understand where Hyperstrike is on not including Incarnates because if you exemplar those are gone, but most of my content I play post 50 so thats why I decide to include that in my builds. Just personal preference, but the most accurate build advise for a baseline is whats perma.
  8. Ok then post a mids build with P2W buffs in it. I have never seen anyone that considers p2w buffs a part of a build, I really dont think you do either. And again its fine if you use them - I could care less, but don't disguise what you are claiming a build does by the addition of p2w powers or a barrier click that doesnt last at that level for its duration its a phony number that wont be there 100% of the time. Thats not me making it up, thats a fact partner. Yeah and ageless isnt your crutch the p2w buffs are. Which is exactly what I said. You dont need to drop ageless either - it is one of the most beneficial destinys in the game - but your build should be strong enough to not need p2w to be able to use ageless. If thats the way you have it set up you took a wrong turn at alberquerquie at some point. Playstyle yes, but claiming inspirations as a part of build planning, no.
  9. Well agree to disagree, because when I go level up my build the option to "buy this feature or that feature" is noticeably absent. Ie not natively available from the build its an accurate description. And again I'm not saying don't use them, all I'm saying is don't claim your set has 90% resistance to all because of p2w additions because it's not something the build comes with. Moreover you don't really need them, you can build around every deficiency in every tank armor set - excluding ice - without needing those fillers. Using them is a crutch you don't really need - especially with incarnates. You can pick any one of my tank builds and it's largely unkillable to 99% of the game - and that 1% it is vulnerable to p2w won't help anyway. Hell by your definition just buy inspirations - keep them loaded fed in your email and you will have a neverending supply of 1 min buffs that can cap every category. Same difference - still doesn't count to what a set is capable of without outside buffs.
  10. Forgetfulness, im old, get awf mah lawn. Nah you could, but my point and what im sticking with is anything not natively to the build or avail on tap from Incarnates isn't part of what I consider a build plan. Not saying it doesnt work well, just not natively avail.
  11. No but say you ran it for 7 hours 45 min the day before, in the middle of the magisterium - the final fight - it runs out... Oops. Not perma not reliable not static build info. Thats My point.
  12. Ha ha nah I understand what you are saying and yeah I agree with 100% with what you are saying, but what I think the point im making is I think build advice should be limited to what is practically there on tap 100% of the time or close to it even, for instance you wont stop in the middle of the magisterium to visit a p2w or empowerment station.
  13. Alpha slots are perma, hybrid slots have a perma buff added when they aren't on. If you are ignoring those things you are blatantly missing features that add to your strength, cost nothing, and are always on. Even void radial can be a form of mitigation cause it causes -dmg debuff on the enemy. Degenerative makes them a little easier to take down. Ageless radial is a perma DDR buff-that lessens in value over its cycle built runs the course of the cycle. It's DDR is something that's valuable to any hybrid or defense set. And as I have said with shield you can literally rotate melee core and one w the shield for only 2 min of downtime with 6 up. That's no small feature any serious tanker builder should ignore - it should have an asterisk though I'll admit - it's rarely used cause the build is strong as is. 6 min of ultra godmode with no serious crashes is a significant tool at anyone's disposal. Having said that P2W buffs or empowerment station buffs shouldn't be included in build advice because those are not inherently on tap like Incarnates are.
  14. Homecoming did so well with tankers I think we are in good hands.
  15. You are looking at EM completely wrong, and i get it - aoe is the name of the game right? Well EM should be the most powerful ST set, at the expense of aoe - look at it this way... AOE character drops 5 minions in 8 seconds with aoe attacks EM ST character drops 5 minions in 8 seconds with ST attacks. Those are only for instance numbers but similar performances. Thats how EM should feel - Lethal unforgiving ST attacks.
  16. I'll put something together for you when I get home. Until then you can take any of my invul builds - Infinitum is my primary and the staff part of the dark staff build I just posted to Soldar a few posts up and that should get you off and running.
  17. Thats a good catch, i changed it in the build already, Thanks!
  18. You know if you would just learn how to slot willpower right you wouldnt die in thar.
  19. Yeah I get the musculature argument, but I would rather the alpha support sustainability. For damage I almost always go assault and have melee as a backup.
  20. That's a good build! I love those sets that boost defense.
  21. One with the shield is actually a part of Shield, so again even if you just had that one it would make you stronger for 2 minutes with a crash thats so mild it can hardly be called a crash. Everything you add to your build has everything to do with the toughness of your build, you cant separate the two once you are decked out and fully incarnated. Alpha slot and Hybrid slots are very important and IMO shouldnt be overlooked because of how they operate - especially how you can rotate Melee core with OwtS. Combined it gives you 6 minutes of near capped resistances on a hybrid set that - probably would be capped if MotT is max procd - that also gives you incarnate softcap to everything but ranged which is at 52% without hover and 55% with hover - so again even without it Shield is still as strong as my Invul with perhaps the only edge the invul going towards it having slightly more resists and also dull pain. What does innate toughness mean, unslotted too? - that would be the most accurate definition. see once you go down that road, it really loses meaning anyway - cause who really plays that way?
  22. Bio is out of my wheelhouse - I have never used it. I probably will one day just to experience it as I like to experience everything i can when it comes to this game, but not yet unfortunately. Sorry about that.
  23. Sorry it took so long, had a lot of real life stuff going on the last 2 weeks, but I think I covered all holes and staff covers melee defense also, by the time might of the tanker procs twice you should be res capped to all. Enjoy! 🙂 Tanker - (Dark Armor - Staff Melee).mxd
  24. So breaking it down - If i had to pick Resistance or Defense I would pick Resistance, and I would pick Dark because of this... Rad would be Second Place with resistance sets at this... Almost forgot Electric Armor coming in at 3rd Then fire a distant Fourth - its just not nearly as strong, but still decent. However my top two would be these #1 is Invul at this. Give invincibility a saturation and that turns to this. Then A very very close second is this - Shield at #2 Willpower is middling around here somewhere because of this... Then Willpower can do this with saturated RttC Its just hard to beat the hybrid sets because they do both really really well. - even SR is a borderline Hybrid set because of the scaling resist - so there really isnt a true defense only tank set out there to classify this with. Overall ranking based on my experiences. 1. Invul 2. Shield 3. Dark 4. Rad 5. Willpower 6. Electric 7. Fire I dont have nor have ever played SR or Bio so i didnt rank them.
