  1. I've reverted to nv driver 431.70 - no change.

Checked Indomitable and Justin x64, x32, and safe on both.

Safe performs slightly better on both. Justin slightly better then Indomitable.

Two things help some - the experimental cel shader doesn't seem to stall/lag, and turning down world texture details.

Task manager does show me hitting 80-100 on the GPU (1080 ti) so I am guessing 4k is pushing the engine to it's limits.

  2. Thank you!!

I'll try that on the various server/client configs and post what I see.

Not sure if it is a routing issue or maybe the client is stalling to sync with physics (just a guess) or some such.

Happens more so in Zones like AP or SC less so in missions.

I dont have anything to capture video but could use steam to stream it to an individual if anyone needed to see specifics.

you do realize that one of the main reason that you have people new to the game or returning IS because of the streamers right?

So my main take away from this is that you will not endorse any stream specifically but people can still stream if they so choose?

I found HC w\o streaming.  Pretty quick too. Almost fell out of my chair when I found servers available.

What percent of ppl find HC by streams,  I don't know. 25% maybe ?

  4. I jumped on Justin and the 'safety' old code and the problem was significantly less obvious.

Sitting here on x64 live I am watching pedestrians... step...step...freeze for a sec...setp. Kinda random how many steps they get.

Could be a routing issue, driver, who knows.

Even when your code is 100% not grey getting NV to fix something is, from what I have read, a pain.

I may try a driver reversion.

I forget does this game has a console command for a latency meter? Ping that sort of thing? F2 in POE.

The only snag is that this would change Homecoming from a non-profit to a for-profit, which I don't think they want to do -- see other replies from them above.  I think that the HC team is trying to avoid the whole microtransaction nonsense entirely.  It's a hassle they don't need, and they know it would turn off a lot of people.  So it's probably better just to avoid it entirely.

Path of Exile is the model I would hope for.

Free - as in complacently, totally, free to play, no restrictions.

There are a lot of items in their store -- none of which affect game play. The closest it come is the ability to buy more bank space.

POE Sells, and stays quite viable as a business, costumes, pets, auras, custom FX for powers, etc.

I would buy micro transactions along those lines. This game is built around custom appearances.

People keep saying NCSoft wont get anything out of this, a point I do not agree with. Having worked for (and currently) a number of large corporations (fortune 500 large) it isnt just about Profit. Even the most money grubbing and evil of all companies I worked for was also worried, a lot, about Brand and Image. NCSoft took a big hit to both closing COx and stands to gain a fair bit of goodwill back if they choose to work with HC or take a second hit if they do not. I know I have not purchased an NCSoft product since GW II (no xpacks) no matter how tempting it was. I doubt I am the only one with a personal embargo that could be lifted. Be nice to see more of the GW II world someday.

There are ways HC can deliver a true free to play game, new billboard add software, as others have pointed out DATA (DATA is really big right now in the corporate world, or at least the parts I see) micro trans for costumes and other items that dont affect game play.

It would be better if HC had $10 million to hand over (I have read that was the original asking price for COH) but if wishes were fishes......

Anyhow, my thoughts of the moment. I get a lot of people are venting frustrations, having access once again to our beloved game the talk of talks brings up a fair amount of anxiety.

  6. Dont have any image editing software at home making screen shots harder to post -- at 4k they dont really fit in a forum message.

    1) Last 2 days or so the game has been stuttering.  Walking, running, flying along the buildings and other not-my-character objects move in jerks (x64 and x32 - pointing finger at the server). This is behavior I would occasionally see on live or HC when the servers where under high load. 12:12am pdt right now so I am guessing not peak hours.

    2) In working to resolve I reset my graphics settings. Big mistake, oh well. I had to revert to the x32 code to enable Advanced Shadows. Just says N/A in x64.

Have disabled AA/AF previously 2x, 4x. No apparent improvement.

I have always played with aggressive settings, may not be breaking any FPS records but generally had smooth game play.

Other factors to keep in mind:

New Win Update recently - enabled HDR for real this time, which my monitors support.

New NVidia Driver with integer Scaling and all that other stuff possible mucking up the works.

As you can see from my sig I have decent hardware backing the game.  CPU/GPU are both well cooled and no apparent misbehaving in other apps.

I am happy to provide any other information/data that may help.

    Thank you,

  7. Like with my master mind.

On a Stalker with a 'fake' Flambeaux she, like the real, is an idiot. Running off and agroeing groups by herself. Sets me up to assassin strike nicely however waiting for her to heal sucks.

I've run into the same problem with other classes and mission pets. Might even be nice to heal my Imps etc this way too.

I guess I could see potential balance issues... Master Minds are built around pet damage (wait or is that my controller? Both?)

    What do people think?

A number of changes since the game have gone live have given rise to the 'melt your soundcard' move I use on my Gravity/Storm troller.

    The setup:

    - KB to KD IO in Wormhole

    - KB to KD IO in Singularity

    The trick:

Use Wormhole to drop enemies directly on top of Singularity.

Since Wormhole no longer notifies enemies, you can safely cast it even with line of sight. Enemies will be stunned and wake up directly on top of the Singularity's knockback aura (which is now knockdown). This will usually cause any who weren't stunned to attack Singularity instead of you (at least at first). Singularity mostly won't move from the spot as long as an enemy is directly under it, so you have effectively duplicated the Bonfire effect.

If you happen to be a /Storm, add a Tornado and Lightning Storm both with KB to KD IOs to add to the fun. If you are a /Sonic Resonance, hang your debuff donut from Singularity so enemies land in a -Resist effect. I'm sure other secondaries offer similar fun (especially Traps).

Downside: the noise is so persistent it may cause your sound card to explode. It is, however, effective.

I have the -kb in Tornado.

I thought about Lightning Storm - be nice to keep things grouped to increase damage. I also really like the KB from that one. 1-3 LS over your head and many things that would otherwise run up and smack you get a big Ker-ZOT and flung back to a safe distance away. I have a fire storm corrupter I am leveling up - maybe I'll try it on him.

  9. Any new tricks out there?

What gets you though the day with your controller?

Slotting Jolt for max recharge for example and just spamming it into a group so all they do is flop around.

The 'Ol bonfire in the corner trick?

How do you stick it to Sappers to get even?

How do you make those bad guys pay for their crimes (or get revenge on those smug do-gooders.)

    -Thanks-

There’s a lot of truth to this. At level 2 I was pretty worried I’d want to dump my Elec/Min due to the lack of damage. At 26 I find that I don’t care overmuch compared to how much I add to the teams I join. AoE Sleep, Knockdown, Immobilization, an AoE Hold, sapped enemies, buffed allies, healing, and bonus travel speeds to make your entire team zip around the map while running into walls.

By level 40 I’ll be able to solo a little better due to Gremlins and Fulcrum Shift. Transference will let me sap things even harder. I’ll also be on the road towards my Ancillary/Patron set to round out my damage and resistances. Good stuff.

Memories from my Elex/Elec Dominator on live:

Gremlins are both awesome and aggravating (then again so are fire imps) - they run around doing damage and knocking down groups - lots of soft control making mobs much slower at damage output but not locking them down. At times those same behaviors can get in the way. I do solo a fair amount and play style does affect things.

They really helped Nikoli Tesla (my old char) once he hit 32 though. With them plus my char spamming jolt we could lock down a lot of mobs. Just have to be careful not to do that on mobs lower level then you.

My rebuilt Nikoli is only 12-13 so far. Any advise for me? I have a couple mains and rotate though a few alts so it will be some time till he hits 50.

    Have a good costume?

  11. My elec/elec Stalker plows though most anything.

Back on live my 50 alpha slotted Fire/Storm controller was my fastest/strongest mission clearer. A Very late blooming set though.

My live Fire/Kin was really good at pumping out lots of damage. Not quite the same surviveability and raw control and the fire/storm though.

My Bots/FF on live was a little slower but nothing stopped it.. could even walk over most mission based AV's.

FYI, I'm still working on a new parser in case the spider's outputs end up being crap that Google can't index, here's a preview of what I have so far, it seems to be working, but I haven't opened up the files to test out the internal links. I'm trying to rewrite the internal links to point to files within the same directory so that in the end, when all is said and done, these files could sit one someone's hard drive, and they could be clicking around on a locally stored copy of the forums instead of one hosted on a website if they wanted:

As compressible as the data is that could work (at least for me) too. Use box and/or a torrent to share it out with indexing.
