  1. For dark Astoria, use ur base teleporter to enter the zone. You are now near base entrance and hospital, move to the wall nearest you and log out there  You'll get the badge.

Mortician, the graveyard in striga or shark, or warp from your base to echo dark Astoria and log out right where you appear.  Or warp from your base to first ward. You appear in the graveyard, log out there for that badge.

  2. I have noted that the small heal given by incandesence will count as well.

But the two big ways to get the heal badges are:

    1. The arena after you do 50 defeats againts a pvp foe to unlock the badge.  Odd thing I noticed when I did this on a low level opponent in bloody bay was that defeats didn't seem to count until they flipped from rogue to villain. Warburg however is a free fire pvp zone and alignment won't matter.

Also 50 defeats for the badge is far better than the old 400 rep grind

    2. Using incarnate Rebirth power on either the guards near imperious in cimerora or else the archnos soldiers in mercy.

So which is faster?  The arena gladiators heal recharges faster then rebirth and th more gladiators you can have in the arena with them the better.  Also in the arena you have privacy

Incarnate Rebirth has longer recharge but can potentially hit more targets.

My pal got all six badges in about 16 hours of arena, starting with none of the badges

  3. Last night while on patrol I saw at one of the locations the pumpkins on the ground and after noting the could be moved around and smashed that the GM was elsewhere.

Patrolled the zone twice, no sign of either Jack or Eochai.  I went back to where the smashed pumpkins were and saw they were still on the ground.....and nearby was a stray UNSEELIE ghost that had not been taken down with the rest.  After taking it out, the next GM spawn occurred.

So pro tip: make sure all UNSEELIE ghosts are eliminated or the GM respawn doesn't happen.

This is how I got the badge, so I can confirm the Arena method 100% still works.

It just isn't as fast as the incarnate healing method.

Someone I know setup the arena method with a pal of theirs.  He then went to bed and awoke eight hours later and found they had gained 4 heal badges and 75 percent progress on the next one. They went to work and returned home after a full shift and had all six of them.

  5. I find that using rest mode can at times leave you defeated and awiating hospital transport when you return.

    1. Removal all Malta from the area except for one sapper.

    2. Presuming that you have not slotted up your second or third build on the character, enter command /selectbuild 2

You then shift into an unslotted build, no defenses. After that just stand normally in front of the sapper.

Just stand there and let him tazer zap you, he should not be able to defeated you but you will gain the badges

Hi! This badge does not seem to be working, at least by logging out "anywhere" (per various CoH/X wikis) in the First Ward. I see no sign of it even building up the hours as will all other day job badges. The other Day Jobs unique to First Ward are working, and I am currently working on Survivalist. Has anyone experienced this, or does anyone have any advice (such as it is now a specific place on the FW map)?

    Thanks!

Anywhere may be a bit relative for that badge.  Your sg base teleporter puts you in the graveyard in that zone but that means you can work the mortician badge not the anywhere badge.

Also the term anywhere does not apply to the three spots for the other day jobs.

But if you log out by the dimension portal that can take you back to paragon you will get progress for the survivalist day job

Solo, and especially once you get DOs or SOs, can fly by very quickly, even without stepping foot in AE;  You can run whichever missions you want, with as much or as little downtime as you want, and with enemy group size and level tailored to you.  It may not be as easy or as good XP/hr as running tunnel missions endlessly, but it's also a lot less tedious, and you'll likely earn a bunch of merits along the way.  Maybe one solution would be to award more merits for running storyline missions, instead of just upon completing each one...

As I recall weren't merits boosted for the content? Old positron task force has a nice payout that I am sure is higher then it used to be.

Perhaps the vip vendor can offer a double merit booster that lasts for an hour buy up to eight hours worth just like the xp boosters but inf is either halved or zero for the duration

I am frustrated because every single character that I create and try to get through the normal game solo, ends up going to AE because the experience of normal content can't even come close to matching it. However, if the AE option was not there players would be forced to go through normal content regardless. Having this 2 hour boost to 50 option just ruins the game completely. I think something needs to be done to make old content worth it again. Why even allow this monstrosity to exist? This is coming from a dude with a Alpha + 3 unlocked Spine/Fire brute. I have actually deleted over 2 level 50s I power leveled because I just can't get into them. I feel like I didn't even earn them.

And if AE is dealt with, make normal content more plentiful for a solo player. How about making missions where you have to kill all NPCs reward like 10 elite bosses worth of exp at the end? Something that feels nice as a reward.

Just AE to 50 slot up then go back and run the Tfs as they are level capped, and use ouro to travel back to the lower level content that you want to run. You'll be powered down to the appropriate level and can run the content

There is no right way, no wrong way and no one and only way to play this game.

  9. Be advised that in the arc that would give the badge, if you saved the detective earlier he will be in the badge mission lying on the ground and there is no npc dialogue from him as you get close so you will need to check all bodies you come across until you find him

  10. 45 minutes ago, EmperorSteele said:

IIRC, the mission literally IS "Complete the DD trial". And you can't miss it, it's not in an arc. You have to call him after doing everything else in DA and he'll be all "Yeah I know you just saved the world twice today, but everyone got kidnapped, can you go do the thing?" and you get a mission which literally says "Complete the Dilemma Diabolique trial". I think the main caveat here is that you have to complete his story arc outside of ouro so you have his number. He should still be in your active contacts.

Oddly he is not showing in my contacts despite having done his arc in ouro.  Ah well I have all the other DA badges via ouro so I can just turbo through the missions in DA to unlock him

    Thanks.

For Bailout hero, the mission isn't auto granted, you have to call DD. Then he gives you the mission, then you have to redo the trial.

I'm seeking for his badge also. Before I start his missiions, what is the name of the mission?  I'd hate to go past it and not realize it was the one since I don't think it's in ouroborus.

Also to make sure, I complete that mission and then setup and run a DD incarnate trial?  Seems like a bit of a long walk for a badge.

1514's the total I've got right now for badges that don't include Bug Hunter or events that haven't run (and aren't accessible some other repeatable way). That count includes things like the 2 Valentines tip badges, the CoH anniversaries, and the Halloween event.

More like it should be 1512 for those that aren't at events where GM's may spawn some special event Giants to take down, such as Cold as Ice and lady of Winter🙂

True.  FWIW, Stan the Man is not one of their trademarks however and is not owned by any comic or entertainment company.

but again, it shouldn’t matter, because you can’t trademark a name to keep it from being used by people (the hospital never checks trademarks when filling out those birth certificates), you can just use it to keep someone else from marketing to a similar target audience with the same name.

Well his birth name was Stanley Lieber and when he wrote his first story for captain America comics he shortened it for journalistic reason to Stan Lee.  However I am unclear if he later made it a legal name change or if the name was more of a pen name that just stayed with him

Not a great idea. Because far too many people believe that Marvel owns names like Wolverine and Black Widow—which they absolutely do not. Yes, Marvel owns the copyright on Wolverine: the cigar-smoking mutant with pointy claws. But they do not own the copyright on Wolverine: the Canadian flag-wearing dude with a magic hockey stick. A human being can glance at those two and immediately see there's no copyright infringement. A computer database can't.

Yes and wolverine is an animal and black widow is a spider.

But also the default appearance of the claws power is wolverines claws....

But since the legality of these servers is still questionable and ncsoft could still drop the hammer on them and shut us down would it not be better to err on the side of caution and implement a list of copyright names into the system to prevent them from being chosen by players and sending a friendly message to those who DO have such names to rename them for the skae of server survivability?

I would think most players would be understanding even if they didn't like it.  We all want our copycat characters but we all want the game more, right?

This depends on who you ask.  Quite a lot of people here who believe even close approximation is a no no and will report it on sight.  Just look at how quickly the Comic Con farms in AE were auto-closed due to player reports for infringements.  And how exactly are "tribute", "parody" and "direct copy" defined?  The costume creator doesn't have many of the unique costume pieces or logos etc. to even make a close replica for any number of copyrighted characters, so it is more than clear direct copies cannot be created of all characters.

Final say on what is / is not acceptable here is with the HC folk.  From their various posts in these threads, they seem more than willing to help with any questions, so best to ask them if you are not sure.

Well what I posted stems from a private chat I had regarding a character of mine that I had on live with no problem, and want to fully restore here.

So as I understand it, tribute characters that resemble but are not copies in costume or name should not be a problem.

Example, naming a character Sister Psyche shouldn't be allowed but a character that somewhat looks like her and called Madame Psyche or Miss Psyche should be cool.  Step Sister Psyche might be pushing it.

Making a character called Statesman shouldn't be allowed but after his demise the  tribute characters arose.  I remember seeing Statesman 3000, statesman Prime, Praetorian Statesman,  Empowered Statesman and so forth. All in costumes inspired by States including the Statesman helmet, but exact copies then and now can't be done.  Ncsoft never seemed to object.

Also back in the day didn't the game have a list in the database of copyright character names that would be marked as unavailable if someone tried to use it?  If so, perhaps that needs to be reinstated by the staff or else implemented anew by the staff.

  16. Well Warcraft installed a tribute of an elderly man named Stanley that walks around says excelsior, fades away and spawns again later.

Didnt they also add a tribute to Robin williams with assorted Mork items on the ground and a lamp with a genie that emerges? Obviously the genie does not look like the Disney one as that would be bad.

Also didn't the original rules back in the day frown on copies of celebrities or am I in error?

  17. The way I understand it is this

Tribute characters that resemble a copy right character in name and appearance should be fine

Direct copies in name and appearance are not fine.

So if I make a shield using character named Commander USA and he wears red white and blue, as long as the costume isn't a direct match of captain America, then that character should be ok.

  18. There are three badges to obtain:

Is There A Doctor in the House:  win the trial

It's Alive!  You have 12 minutes to defeat 99 zombies and then the abomination.  A tank, brute, scrapper or dwarf mode kheld can keep the abomination distracted while the others in the team walk over the graves to spawn zombies. Can't fly over them, have to walk.  Whoever keeps the Abomination busy should injure it some but also fall back when it raises is arms or foot to launch an attack. The team should be able to wipe out the zombies with 3 to 6 minutes left on the clock, plenty of time.

Tricked Out: defeat the abomination while wearing a  Trick or Treat costume.  There is a common belief that you have to wear the costume from start of the trial to finish and that belief is wrong.   My khelds tanked the Abomination dwarf mode then for the final fight I switched back to human form and costumed up.  Still got the badge.

The Black Whip side quest before you enter the mansion is not required to be done and offers NO bonus rewards.

Among the rewards you can choose from at the end, remember that the bats aura is already unlocked in the tailor.

  19. The feeling of obtaining and installing the final io's to complete the rebuild of one of your powerful characters prior to shutdown.

As I installed it I kept picturing thanos adding gems to the gauntlet and feeling the power....

  20. Nope,  I and some pals ran the Haunted House a few times.  It appears to be merely a bonus mission, possibly an allegory to all the bad candy and razor blade apples that have been passed out at times during Halloween, based on the dialogue you have with the 2 partygoers.
