  1. This is something I am reconsidering. Still feels a bit salty in the wounds when I can't do it again on my favorite stalker and have to go play a different character. But that's neither here nor there. Fundamentally it just feels incredible unnecessary to have a hurry up and wait mechanic. I'm fine if it's because the content ITSELF takes time. But an artificial 18 hours because....? I don't understand the connection.
  2. This is my point. If Positron could be started at level 50, people would be doing Posi level 50+ If the Instant Army story arc could be started at level 50, people would run it at level 50+. You are welcome to play things at your own speed and difficulty. But why am I being slowed down by an artificial time gate on salvage rewards, for something that neither gives you opportunities, or harms the way you choose to play? I think you might be misunderstanding why I made that statement. I don't think everyone should -have- to play at +4. But for those that do, why are we punishing them for going back to help players like you do a run at +1?
  3. I would be a betting man right now if you started a casual ITF and invite a mix of level 35-50 level players, at least one of the level 50s is going to ask to take star so they can run it at 50+.
  4. It's a different issue, but I've never agreed with badges in City of Heroes (Homecoming or live). Some of them (including most of the ones HC has added) should be character-unlocked. Some of the absolutely ridiculously grindy and boring badges should be account-unlocked. The ask is not to devalue the high-ticket vanity item. But there's smarter ways of making something valuable and impressive without making the grind higher and higher on an exponential level in a game where people have tons and tons of alt. For example. The first time you buy blobby mode, it costs 2000 AP. Second time you buy it on a character, it only costs 1900 AP, with a minimum cost of 750 AP, etc.
  5. Why not? Who should be able to tell me I shouldn't be going for it on 20 different character? And there's a difference between an 'impressive response' and a 'dude you absolutely have no life' response. Should the requirement be high? Absolutely. Should it take me maybe a few months of playing a lot of content (not every single hard mode tf in the game) to get it on a handful of characters, absolutely. The game is notoriously called 'city of alts' because of the diversity the game offers. What happens when I want to alt? I put in all that work for mini-mode on one character, but I won't get that 'impressive' response on my alt.
  6. I agree with all of the above. But after doing the math, to get 1500 seems like a number thought up by Mr. Monopoly. That means for 20 characters, I would have to do specific content at specific difficulties to maximize the amount of AP (aether particles) every day for 600 days straight. I love this game and want the best for Homecoming, but who's to say it will even be around in 2 years? (Maybe this is game-closure PTSD speaking). This seems contrary to the mission statement of 'we don't want people to feel compelled to do specific content.' AP being unbound is great, until it goes for 1-2 billion per salvage on the market for the first few months. Point-o-facto for this is, Tiers 1-2 seems reasonable. Tier 3 does not seem to match the grind given. (I love mini mode and blobby mode but I don't love them that much that this motivates me to grind for them.) Maybe this might help some clarity - is there a daily cap of how much one character can earn per day if they did all different tfs/trials? That would compel diversity without the timegating getting in the way. Also, for the vanguard reward merits, as someone who absolutely hates doing MSRs, 5000 is a looooooong grind through rikti mission content.
  7. You probably play the game a lot more 'normally' than I do. For example, the ITF at +4 x8 with the set of builds I use can be done in 15/20 minutes. I'm going to run that 2-3 times in an hour despite the reward merits diminishing. Why? Because it's fun for me. There are others like me, and there are others like you, neither of our worlds are going to change because I can earn more vanity coins than you can the way you might do it. Putting the new vanity coins on a timegate is just insulting to my time because the way I want to play isn't going to let me play with the new fun toys. Yes, they are dumb cosmetic new toys, but now I feel like I have no reason to go after them, except by playing a way I don't like to.
  8. This helps me to see where the idea for these changes come from. I don't know that these changes will make the set more popular, but definitely more viable. Still feels like it's missing that 'x factor' that makes a set special and feel different than other sets, especially when it's special characteristic (the -dmg resist) is nerfed.
  9. This makes a bit more sense. I have not been on a 4-star ASF that takes 2.5-3 hours except for 1 time when we had a leaver. But I also consistently run with min-maxed and well built teammates (which is not everybody so I can chuck that up to personal bias.) Still though, it would be nice to have some incentive as a higher-end build to help out with lower-end difficulties as I still think people will power-creep the TF's difficulties. (Remember how hard the original ITF was compared to two weeks after it came out? I know, forever ago.) Some of the biggest turn-offs I hear about people not doing the ASF is that they don't want to jump head-first into something difficult. A lot of people were running 'casual' runs of the ASF the first 3 or so weeks it came out, but now it still feels like a 4-star or bust situation.
  10. Other than it is a waste of my time. If I am sounding a little elitist because 'why would I do the peasant's 2-star TF instead of the 4-star I am capable of' - that's the point. This is why WoW's mythic scene is a toxic pile of trash, time-gating inevitably leads to it- even if it's for a stupid transmog item you are after.
  11. Maybe I'm not understanding, but why would I bother to do the 2-star earlier in the day when I can just do the 4-star and get all my rewards in one TF?
  12. Correct. But the hamidon raid is the hamidon raid, it doesn't have different difficulties. Again, I think the issue is, is that players are going to default to whatever is most cost-effective on their time. Someone who wants to do a 2-star ITF is going to get shunted by everyone who is wanting to do 4-star or bust.
  13. Good point. Even more reason to avoid timegating. People who CAN run higher difficulties are going to snub lowerlevel difficulties. There's a reason long-time players don't bother play lower-level content and why they despise having to run at exemplar'd level when they've spent time getting to level 50.
  14. This still doesn't correct the issue mentioned above. Why would I do a 1-star at all if I'm still going to get what I would have the first time by making it a 2 star?
  15. Awesome! Super excited for the night widow textures especially.
  16. Despite my personal bias as being an avid farmer and loving the ability to take advantage of veteran-level XP from farming - I will say this is probably good for the long-term overall. However, if this is taking place at the same time as the NPC damage type changes, AE farming is not going to be the same for those who really want to min-max. I understand you -CAN- still farm, but it's a nerf to farming overall.
  17. This game was always meant to be a power-fantasy game. Players being able to 'break the game' by being a bit OP via smart build making and hard-earned incarnates I feel was the intention all along. That being said, I don't think this compliments build variety, rather this is going to dissuade even more people from playing non defense-oriented sets. Not to mention this completely destroys the desire to play blasters/other ATs that can only survive +4 x8 content on their own because of the way it worked previously. Are we going to be getting multiple free respecs if this ends up going live? Because everyone is going to need a respec unless you happen to be super reflexes.
  18. This feels like kicking the unpopular kid while he's already down. In all seriousness, can we get the justification/idea for why these changes are being made?
  19. 5000 for 'an extra costume slot' essentially. No thank you. Grinding 20+level 50 characters 24/7 for 600+days just so each of them can have ONE tier three NPC costume. No thank you. The rewards time-out is a hurry up and wait system, which is far more frustrating and turns me off to the game than being compelled to run a specific TF/Incarnate trial. I'm all for long term rewards, but some of us have already been playing this game for a life-time and have PAGES of level 50 alts. This feels more like a waste of time than a long-term reward. A lot of the justification seems to be 'so players don't feel compelled to grind a specific type of content.' This feels more like I am being compelled to hurry up and wait. This is the backwards point of view on what content is that is destroying modern day MMO's. Please rethink the currency grind this creates.
  20. Perhaps there could be a phase in to phase out mechanic when you engage combat? Maybe it's a bit nit-picky, but having another button to bind for this ability feels like an undue burden for what is essentially a (very much appreciated) quality of life improvement to super speeding in "city" of heroes. Civilian NPCs are tanks when it comes to moving around maps, no matter how high your dmg% is, and this is a much needed change. Also, Anyone who needs exploration badges in the abandoned sewers thanks you for this wonderful ability.
  21. SG Name: The Black Sheep Passcode: DIAMOND-8022 Ingame Contact: @Bluetonium Diamond Port is a broken subsidiary of Independence Port. Once forgotten behind the war walls, the port serves little usage to Paragon's economy. What's left of the area has fallen under siege of a gang known as 'The Black Sheep' and has since become a necessary evil to the local businesses. Whatever interest they have from the real estate is what keeps the small town alive. The base consists of two main levels. Ground floor is the port, meant to be a cut-out of Independence Port. The underground level is the Black Sheep's hideout, an ultra-tech water base turned into an underbelly rave. Feel free to send an ingame email, or tell, or reply with any questions. Thank you,
