Every New Year's Day, Sci Fi does a Twilight Zone marathon.

Amy's a Tanker (bio/em) based off of my old Marvel Super Heroes character, an android designed in the footsteps of the Super Adaptoid.  In CoH I dropped the Super Adaptoid stuff and just had her be a prototype AI housed in an adaptive nanotech body.  Her creators were killed in a raid by the Sky Raiders; she escaped, and wanders the city righting wrongs and trying to figure out her life... which has gotten weird since recently teaming with a Warshade, who used "Soul Extraction" on a Mek Man, leading her to go on a crusade for AI's souls.  She's squarely in the Hero column.

Back on live, I had a Valkyrie (Got her on Virtue too!) that was involved in a story line about AI's and souls, and if an AI could reach Valhalla. One of my regrets was that Sunset happened before the story line could ever finish and poor TenTen never did get to figure out if she could take an AI to Valhalla or Folkvangr.

  2. I was just thinking the opposite, that while flitting around the Isles the billboards were really starting to take shape.

I threw an example of something I'd run across recently.

That said, this is the thread where to offer your artistic skills.  In the Developer's Corner of the Forums are a few other threads pertaining art and game design.

  3. *Slips quietly into the thread*

Hi, Hello! I've been lurking the arts forms for a while.  I keep thinking I should throw something into the costume thread but never really get around to it. My talents lay in creating pictures with words and story lines instead of drawing.

I'm an OG from live (Beta even!).

Most know me as Tenebrous Night (BS/Invul scrapper)or TenTen from Infinity (and Unmasked).

A few knew me as Sigund (Shield/Axe tank) or Siggy from Virtue.

And at this moment in time wishing I'd chosen a different forum handle!

On homecoming I'm running around on Red Side as Midnight Thorn, and having a blast!

  4. It's been a few months since I first asked for some help! Since then, I've been talking to a lot of people and discussing things with Widow Banetouch, who was kind enough to throw everything we spoke about into Midds, and correct many assumptions I had. We were able to get my beloved hasten and creepers while adding in a ton of defense and survialfulness (Please, someone get this!). I call it Creeping Darkness. Cuz.. Creppervines are important and Darkness.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It's what villains do in comic books, Mistyr. They get short term victories and then lose the bigger battle down the line. *shrugs!*

I think this is the issue here.

This is just how it is in comic books. However, City of Heroes/Villians is also a video game and an MMO. When I play a video game, I expect to succeed in my task, when I play a MMO I expect to be able to build my character through successes and failures. I want to tell her story and compromise and find the best story for everyone involved. Being told she'll "ultimately fail, because comic books" feels like I just got Godmodded. Somebody just informed me, just decided, my character's ultimate fate and ended her story. All with out consulting me. To me, this is a big problem.

They could've themed different zones of Paragon for villainy like working -with- the Skulls in King's Row to eventually displace the Petrovich brothers and control the drug trade in the slums. Then with the 'Druglord' badge moving from them to the Family in Independence Port in a gated continuing storyline to get into a big drug war to try and control the flow of the drugs.  And from them to going after Crey when they start slowing down the supply of needed chemicals and stuff, then use the Paragon Protectors to try and expose you as a Drug Kingpin and frame themselves as the Heroes for PR. All of it with various "Local Heroes" coming out of the woodwork to try and stop you, or Cops raiding your drug labs or cash stores...

Storylines like that would've completely changed the tenor of how villains work, and created a more nuanced picture than "Everyone in the Isles is evil or at least corrupt and you work for them all"

This, so much this. I really couldn't agree more with you here! Thank you for putting that into words!

I still like the idea of "home bases". I like the Islands and the lore there for Villains. Just as I like Paragon for Heroes and the lore there. They are completely opposite world views and when they clash spectacular RP happens.

I'll bow out of this thread now, I don't want to derail it more than I have already! Sorry!
