  1. 1. MM pets should not have the level tax. They should be the same level as the MM.

    2. Regeneration. Add a good amount of debuff resistance (rech, regen, recovery). I’d also like to see scaling resists added.

    3. Sentinels. Rework the inherent to be less complicated and more effective.

    4. Assault Rifle. Honestly I just want the snipe to activate faster. I understand that more can be done, but that alone would make me a lot happier.

  2. I have rewritten my thoughts several times as it kept getting too long winded.

I think procs are fine. I’m generally not a fan of witch-hunting in the name of combating power creep or achieving balance.

Procs are just one flavor of over the top power that permeates this game. There are plenty of other flavors to choose from as well.

  3. I think SR is one of the best tanker primaries - though not THE best - that would be shield defense.

I think something people just have misconceptions or biases against SR, but there is no denying it’s a very powerful set on tankers.

One myth is that some people still seem to think SR is a one trick pony (defense only). This is false. It provides the best defense sure, but the scaling resists are nothing to scoff at nor is the nice recharge boost.

Some people dislike that it doesn’t have inherent healing or recovery options within the set itself. SR is not the only set that has endurance woes if you don’t address endurance in your build through IOs or incarnates.  Same goes for healing. Same goes for healing, but I honestly haven’t found the need to ever worry about carrying greens with me or anything other than reds (inspirations). Your health might drop to a semi low number, but eventually it just stops moving down due to scaling resists.

The only downside of SR is that it isn’t shield defense. Shield has more than enough defense, trades +rech for +Dam and a telenuke, has the same lack of recovery/healing, but a much better resist basis. With a triple stacked ATO on my main shield/ma tanker, I have capped resists for s/l/e/n (75% toxic and 53% psi) and can be at 100% health at the same time. Shield has almost as much DDR as SR with double stacked active defense.  Again, I haven’t really found myself wanting to carry greens.

The fact that I knew this once but forgot about it completely shows how often I use those pools.

I used to use sorcery a lot, but haven’t used it as much lately. Never cared much for the others.

We're allowed 4 power pools. You have 4 listed. What's the problem again?

You can’t have more than one origin pool. So OP has to choose between rune, unleash potential, or adrenal booster.

I would choose rune out of those.

  6. Willpower is a layered mitigation set so you have multiple goals based on damage type.

Overall you are looking at typed mitigation versus positional.

    • S/L damage: goal should be to cap s/l resists.  You will have some defense for s/l, but getting to softcap may be difficult. The set leans toward resistance for s/l.
    • E/N/F/C - Shoot to get softcap defense as you already have a good start on it. You will also have some resists, but not as much as S/L.
    • Psi - You will have some defense and some resist for psi. I’m able to get pretty decent psi resist with wp.
    • Toxic - build up resists where you can.  Not usually a high priority for my builds. More of a byproduct of chasing other things.

I fully slot out rise to the challenge and end up slotting fast healing as well (mostly for set bonuses). Rise to the challenge is going to give you the mass majority of your Regen. I don’t chase Regen/recovery bonuses. You get enough with the powers and the usual procs.

Biggest thing I have seen is LotG: +Recharge not being a consistent 8 mil anymore. Numerous ones are being sold in the 6 mil area.

I never pay more than 6 mil for LOTG + rech and sometimes will pay as low as 4.5 mil. Granted I don’t mind waiting a day or two for an order to fill. Buy it now prices can be super volatile though.

  8. Not going to rank all of them.

Best - Captain America: The Winter Soldier is easily the best of the whole MCU series.

    2nd Best - Thor Ragnarok

    Worst - Thor: Dark World

Misfit - Eternals. This just feels unrelated to MCU. If I only view it as a standalone movie with no relation to MCU main then it was entertaining enough. But it just feels like it doesn’t fit.

  9. I also chose Indom at random to begin with in 2019. Due to my time zone though I can never fill teams on indom.  I used to be able to fill teams decently, but in the past few months it’s been pretty deserted when I am able to play. Even calling for an ITF might take 20 minutes to get 3 bites, but usually none.

So I have taken to transferring toons over to excelsior if I can’t get a single bite within 10 minutes on indom.  I load into cimemora on excelsior and see probably 20 player characters floating around. Send out a call and within seconds get about 20 tells.

  10. The ITF is my favorite activity in the game by far. It’s just long enough to feel good without being a slog. It can cater to speed farming merits (yeah I know not the fastest) or you can do kill most xp runs.

The fact that it is likely the most popular task force also means the teams fill fast. So it’s fun to do theme runs and pretty easy to fill up. Stalkers only! Or fire blast only! Or a Regen only run. Etc.

It has enough hard targets that single target focused characters feel as important as AoE spamming characters. Both are rewarded.

    It is just plain fun.

  11. I figured I would share my updated DB/EA scrapper build.  A few points:

    • All types softcapped, except of course psi and toxic.
    • I beefed up the resistances mainly on s/l/e/n
    • I have entropic aura set at 5 enemies for an average.
    • Overall I was more focused on mitigation (boosting resists) than offense, though I haven't been disappointed damage wise.

  12. I actually don’t particularly like this combination mainly because I don’t like electric melee. It has some big aoes, but they have long recharge and aren’t particularly fast.

I get that it’s fun to have 2 telenukes, but the fun factor wears off fast when facing a single hard target. Or even just finishing off bosses. Like Arcane said, electric melee has garbage single target damage. To me the only bearable AT for this combination is stalker.  The addition of assassins shock makes the single target situation workable, but honestly still not ideal as the single target damage is still weak.

  13. My condolences. Many of us have fallen prey to the dreaded extra zero.  I myself once bought a pvp IO for 110m instead of 11m before. As well as a couple other blunders for 50m each.

I understand this may have been a misunderstanding of how to place the bid. Unfortunately, there is no way to recovery the influence. Best way is to do some enhancement conversion for about a week and you will be back up to 2bn in no time.

Also, I like to think I made some poor soul rich with my blunder. And try not to think it was one of the 🎩 and 🧐 crowd.

  14. I personally don’t mind combo mechanics. I actually enjoy them to some extent. Dual blades is probably my favorite overall melee set. I really like water blast and street justice.

Dual blades is probably the only set that has strict combos in A>B>C sense. I can understand how this would turn off a lot of people, but honestly you can go either way on dual blades. You can ignore the combos entirely. Or you can stick with the fried and true BF + attack vitals which is also really good.

I don’t mind further sets having combo mechanics, even strict ones like dual blades. I would just want them to make sure that each combo is worth using and thus each power is worth taking (and not just because the combo forces it). That could be the one improvement on dual blades. But since dual blades does fine with just one combo, or none at all, I’m not going to complain about it.

Would love to see the updated build Sai!

Here is the updated build.  I sacrificed procs and some rech for better overall mitigation.  Lately, I have been more focused on mitigation rather than damage and my builds are reflecting that. I got rid of rune due to the changes last year.  Instead I beefed up my resistances and am using OWTS for emergencies.  Shadow meld is really just there as a mule, but can be used to pump up defense if necessary.  I run ageless core and base recharge buff is cheap and easy so I'm not worried about being shy of perma hasten with just set bonuses.  Negative energy isn't highly resisted and AAO + soul drain gives such a great damage boost that I don't particularly care about procs for offense.

This build requires ageless for recovery.

I don't understand how this build has only one slot placed at lvl 21. Where'd the other one go?

To be honest I’m not sure. I never really make my builds with leveling in mind as I really only use with level 50 in mind.

That said, I recently updated my dark melee/shield defense build and I will try to remember to post it later when I’m at my computer.

Oooh, I want to hear more about this, Saikochoro!  You solo the ITF at 4/8 on a blaster?  What are you running?   I have to have one!  I am serious, this sounds like a great challenge to me, and I want to do it (I'm pretty sure my main can run it on normal settings solo, though I haven't tried, but I know she wouldn't make it through the final battle with Rom x3 at 4/8. . . at least without it being such a ridiculous time suck of death and frustration that finally finishing it would be more annoying than fulfilling, heh).

You know what? I honestly got lost in what I was saying when thinking about about how a damage benchmark. I had mentioned the threads in the scrapper forums and then forgot this was specifically about blasters.

I was mainly thinking of fighting AVs solo. And one of the more popular task forces is the ITF. It wouldn’t be much a personally dps test when fighting them as a team so I said solo, but was really only thinking of the individual AVs at +4, as that is a bit different than fighting pylons. Though I get why people do the pylons. I know I’ve seen at least one thread where someone did a Werner rules solo ITF with a blaster successfully. I personally can’t do it. The blaster will have survivability difficulties doing a solo ITF. But if a blaster can do enough damage to solo +4 AVs such as the ones in the popular task forces, then their damage is plenty good enough.

Now if a blaster can do the whole TF solo, then they are absolutely fine to do whatever else. Thanks for asking that question. I’m going to clarify most post.

Level 1-50 your dps changes by level, the gear you have, and what powers you select.

After 50, your leveling is somewhat related to your access to incarnate powers, the gear you have, and what powers you select.

    This isn't like other games.

Just have fun, you don't have to mini-max. If you want to mini-max, use MIDs

If you want to bypass experiencing the game yourself, use MIDs.

The OP was opposing the statement that vet levels impact dps. Vet levels themselves are entirely irrelevant to DPS. Yes, you get threads and emp merits to create incarnate powers, but you can just as easily dump a bunch of emp merits on a fresh level 50 and get them to T4 as soon as their incarnates are unlocked.

As to your second statement, there are plenty of players that love to min max and find that very fun and rewarding. To imply that min maxing isn’t the same as “just having fun” for the OP is short sighted.

The third statement is entirely subjective and also somewhat insulting in its implications to players that don’t view the game the same way you do. There are plenty of avid players of the game that love using mids to build their characters and then throw them at the game whether as they level or after power leveling to 50 and running trials and other challenges.  This is not bypassing experiencing the game. It is merely a different playstyle that is every bit as valid as using SOs while going through every contact in the game and turning off xp when necessary. Neither style of play is better than the other. They are just different.

Now to the OP: you are going to have a hard time finding an agreed upon number for a dps benchmark. The pylon damage thread in the scrapper forums is probably where most of the single target testing occurs.  This forum also has the trap door test that covers damage in a more complete picture. There are also a few threads that discuss how much is required to kill certain AVs or to survive some hard AE missions (801 series).

I will agree with others that have said, that in general, there really isn’t a dps bar that you have to meet for the mass majority of the game even at end game. This is especially so on teams. It really only starts to matter in extreme solo challenges and and some edge case extreme challenges modes for teams.  These will often also require you to take survivability into account as well.

Id say, if you can do a +4/8 ITF solo even without extreme challenge restrictions than you are golden.

Edit: +4/8 is actually not a good suggestion. Blasters will have survivability issues. I was mainly trying to think of a real game benchmark for dps.  And taking out the +4 AVs in the popular task forces before they kill you I think is good. But, I was too focused on the AVs to think too much about the other mobs spawn. I think this is why people do pylon testing. It’s slightly different, but you don’t have to slog through a TF to get to hard target. And it doesn’t have tons of mobs. I still think fighting a + 4 AV would be better though.  +4/1 would be better, but still might have too many other spawns to make it a good test.

  19. Never in game. If someone wants advice they can ask for it.

I will look at people infos on a team just to see what powersets they are running so I can observe them in game. This provides me a lot of inspiration for new alts, but I never comment on their power choices or lack IOs or anything. At most I will say, “how have you been like seismic blast?”

I get most of this with slightly lower ddr, without being at half health, plus a heal, plus infinite endurance as energy aura.

And that's not even the strongest alternative for brutes. Sr isn't bad, but to imply it's better than the other sets in the running is pure, unfiltered copium.

I also believe EA to be a superior set. However, I think Bill was debunking the myth that SR is a one trick pony. It may not be the absolute best armor, but it is certainly not a one trick pony.
