  1. But you're making them less formidable in the process by taking away stacking vengeance. I don't think adding some detoggleable powers is a fair trade here.
  2. Was thinking the same thing as I read that. But I try not to put too much effort criticizing Berkeley's posts...
  3. I think there is a conceptual link to the leadership toggles being that usually only bosses use them. Having every lt and minion using these toggles kinds of lessens the concept not to mention a single AoE mez will turn them all off. But this isn't me saying no changes should be made. I made a whole thread about creating a difficulty mode that added various powers to various mobs and ranks. This is just me saying it might be not only conceptually conflicting but also kinda bland and easily countered. But by some of the comments here, they don't want mobs to be made more troublesome.
  4. Well you're wrong. Unless you feel that we shouldn't have access to the customization that IOs grants in build output, without those IOs, those examples DO pose a threat and even with IOs but unfocused on set bonuses, they can provide a credible threat if not taken into consideration with how you approach them. Like I said, you either didn't read what I wrote or you just didn't understand it. And if you did both, then you're flat out wrong. Then there's the fundamental portion of the point that you apparently don't understand: if the target doesn't increase the duration of the encounter, they won't ever have the opportunity to pose a threat and create difficult opposition. Basically, if the mob doesn't survive long enough to do anything, it will never pose a challenge.
  5. Did...did you stop reading after that quoted sentence?
  6. You really are coming at this the incorrect way. Those Nemesis soldiers aren't just getting +def. They get damage and resistance to mez too. They would be posing a greater threat to an individual using defense armor sets or ATs that rely on mez to keep them from attacking back. Those Paragon Protectors can pull off a defeat on a squishy or weakened armor type if they can't stop them from using their last ditch buffs. Those -perception debuffs can be a death sentence to a squishy relying on a tank to keep them safe. A tank that can't see won't be able to peel the mobs from those vulnerable teammates. Now if they pose no threat to YOU then it's not particularly an issue with the game just increasing encounter time. You've just decreased the threat they pose. If anything, you should be happy that you have the ability to decrease these mobs' threat...or would you rather they tear you apart regardless of your build? Because I can tell you, if I had 10k inf for every time a team put the difficulty too high and we went into an arachnos map, expecting to roll through them like the other missions only to get roadblocked hard, I could at least buy a purple set for one of my alts sitting at 45+.
  7. My complaint about Teleport is when I'm oh so close to that mission door but just slightly out of range of it, or I'm TP'ing to the tram and have to get around that bleeping median thing and thus it either requires me to hang around for several seconds before I can move a bit or take the extra ports to move. Teleport needs to be modified with the Mystic Flight tech and make the power's hang time 0 but have the toggle to hover in space (very little flight speed) and turn it off when you're close enough to your destination. Also, TP foe would be much better and cooler if the animation were shorter. Just a quick *yank*, ~pause~ and then *pop* the enemy is next to you. You can increase the recharge time in compensation. I believe someone made a thread about a facelift to the older pools. Looking at presence, I don't like needing both a taunt and/or placate to get the PBAoE fear. I'd rather just be able to get either a taunt, placate OR fear to be able to grab the PBAoE version...that or make the powers in this pool better...like increasing your defense or giving you absorb or something...
  8. The only way to increase difficulty is to also increase encounter time. Granted, you can increase encounter time but not increase difficulty, but again, there has to be a portion of an encounter to exist for difficulty to be increased in. But if a mob just huddles up and dies, that's the opposite of increasing difficulty. Having measures to make the same old tactic less universal is a better approach. Rather than remove or nerf their Vengeance stacking, why not decrease the range to about 60ft instead. Make it so you actually want to keep them dispersed. Doesn't mean you can't stack 'em, but if you're finding issues with stacking Vengeance then the solution should be "try something different".
  9. Correction: the game itself is devoid of options. There aren't many arcs that give the player various nuanced dialog options. Some exists but it's few and far between. It's not a phenomenon isolated to CoV.
  10. (to the first part) Then why hold this expectation if you know it is infeasible with the limitations of the game? This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous posts. But just because a specific aspect of villainy isn't feasible, doesn't mean all aspects of villainy are also infeasible. Making a guy who just like messing with people, or someone who is actually a flunky who obsessively follows the command of their master or someone who just takes what they want are all feasible in the game and can be very villainous. Again, you don't have to be Dr. Doom. If you do want to be that type, you're going to have to take some liberties with focused RP to accomplish. So there are villainous aspects that aren't supported by the game the same as there are heroic aspects not supported. So you can take it or leave it. I can't stop two trains about to collide, catch kids plummeting from a great height or catch a falling plane or if the sky.
  11. This guy gets it! 👏 👏 👏
  12. But I NEED everyone ELSE to see my cat man running around like an animal 😭
  13. Almost forgot, where is this promise? Did I just skip that contract and push OK to get to the good stuff? As far as I know, things regarding Roleplay is what you make of it. And the games merely allow you to perform deeds on a spectrum of morality. Also, for heroes, I can't make an ambivalent unfeeling force of balance or a novice hero in training (even in the Shining Stars, you're like a prodigy among misfits) or even just rescuing people from a derailed train or crashing plane. There are elements of heroism no longer bothered with (so you ever sacrifice yourself to protect someone by taking their place? Scenarios that are actually self sacrifice?). I could go on and on about the supposed "heroism" touted about on blue side. It's mostly fake. And it's all for back pats for your ego. Heck, I have to go gold to play a hero concerned about his public image. There isn't just failings on red. Blue is as guilty.
  14. These are called delusions of grandeur, and those that can't see that are the most blind. If you want to run a self important villain that has deluded himself into believing he runs this shit (but if people think redside is so desolate and trashy, why would you?) but constantly finds himself the heel of everyone's boot, sure. I have villains who can easily play the angles, making it look like he's just some muscle doing someone's dirty work, but there's always that portion open to interpret taking the situation in a direction to benefit yourself. Would Lex Luthor be caught running errands for Lord Recluse? Not in Metropolis but a good chance he would on the Rogue Isles if he's trying to get anything done there. And fewer shades of grey in villainy? Are you high?
  15. I see you don't enjoy "spaghetti highway zone", "slum urban neighborhood zone" and "bunch of tall close buildings zone". Would an "ice zone" or "lava zone" make your stay better?
  16. It is relevant. Like I mentioned, unreasonable expectations arise and everyone wants the story to treat them like big shit. I just don't buy having NPCs brown nosing my character. It's much more immersive if people on an island where the weak are crushed to also act tough. And the same expectations aren't reflected to Blueside. Like I mentioned before, it's fine but I feel compelled to criticize this hypocrisy.
  17. And you generalize to make it sound like you are among the many henchmen under a person's employ. No, the writings are made to sound as if you are a participant in a scenario, not just a henchmen in an army of other henchmen.
  18. See Dr. Doom portion. Everyone can't be Dr. Doom ruling Latveria nor can the story conform to each individual person's personal imagined plots. Blueside doesn't either give you an option of being a specific type of hero. Like i said, it's only this bizarre leap in expectations shone on redside when in reality, the games limitations are set.
  19. Tropes for repeated characters? Iron man suit versions mixed with magical girl like powers. And magic robots/androids that are trying to duplicate Tinmage's original. They're all named "some material"-Mage usually linked to what power they have like how silver is conductive electricity or nickel's capacity to conduct heat or quartz's use in clocks.
  20. Have read these rationalizations, debates and such many a times. It's been a while but to any of my fans (all 0.5 of you) I always come off as a villain side fanboi when in reality I play blue more than red. My personal perspective is, people have odd unrealistic expectations of red side that they seem oblivious to on blue. For example: The aesthetics. The dark, dirty and Grey redside. There exists some shinier portions of RI such as St Martial or the nature areas of Nerva. I suppose people prefer the visage of a bright city... Which PC fails at too. Each has their charm, I actually enjoy the architecture of RI while PC's buildings feel lifeless and pointless wastes of space that narry a sane person would desire to work out of much less live in. Or someone was talking about how a lot of elements like a carnival, casino, warehouse dock and forest area in one zone didn't give enough space to flesh out the aesthetics thus making the zone feel samey? That makes absolutely no sense to me. The only way to please that person is the Starwars method of having an entire zone with only one topographical feature like "crater zone", "junked up buildings zone", "Island zone" and "ghost zone". Nothing wrong with that, but it's not a necessary. Then there's the whole "lackey" persona. Sometimes I think people use this defense because they lack imagination and just want to blame the writing instead. Even if you are treated as a lackey, whose to say you are actively choosing to stay a lackey...or mind being a lackey to begin with. People get in their heads they are Dr. Doom when in reality you are in Dr. Doom's country and very little leverage to usurp him. There are plenty types of villains out there but everyone is staunchly digging their heels in and won't participate unless they can be the Dr. Doom.
  21. I'm currently running an Elec/Regen Stalker who needs beast run to fulfill his half human/half cat motif. Right now, I just run Beast Run all the time unless I fully know I'm about to enter a fight that will drain me, but with the END cost of Beast Run coupled with /regen not having +recovery has required a bit of special build considerations I don't usually make on my other builds. If Beast Run was at least as cheap as Sprint, that would help. But if it was a slotable power to make even cheaper, that would be even better. Mind you, I'm not talking about the movement aspects of Beast Run. I have no qualms running a Sprint+Combat Jumping+Slotted Hurdle/Sprint character...IF I could also have the animation for Beast Run (on my Elec/Regen stalker) and Ninja Run (on my Kat/SR and TW/WP scrappers).
  22. Well it does mention "stance" and with context clues, I'm assuming having an alternate animation for sprint that uses either the Ninja Run or Beast Run animation since neither can be ran with other travel powers is the intent. That being said, were the prestige sprints added to the game before animation customization? I figure rather than having a dozen different versions of sprint, they'd have added Sprint to one of the options to customize. Would also be great to be able to color those sprints to your liking as well as choosing if you want the jog, slide, ninja or beast running animation.
  23. No idea. I'm pretty casual as I just run solo on whichever side the character I'm playing happens to be on and when SF or TF are being advertised, I run whichever I'm not bored of. For me, it'd hopefully get people to run things not often run and I'll tag along. As for gaming the system, I suppose I'm not really participating in the discussion. I'm not that concerned with farmers or poor slobs who know nothing about making inf or refuse to try. My angle is aimed purely at running those content streams rarely touched and put a break on others overly ran. When you start trying to form SFs or run through some arc that no one wants to help in because they are focused on AE farms or the same TFs needed for specific accolade rewards, it gets daunting and if we're going to hobble on with less than 4 or doing extra travel, it might feel more inciting and worth the effort. I suppose certain aspects of the other content could also be adjusted like excessive travel times or way too many street sweeping missions....but then I'm not really participating in the discussion if I go on more than I have.
  24. Because it's too difficult to tell who is a "have-not". What's stopping someone just making several dozen accounts and just log in to mail the rewards to the main account? Federalized Welfare is never the answer unless someone is literally incapable. And even then, those that are incapable should be relying on the charity of the capable rather than getting free gibs at the expense of the economy. And the purpose of my suggestion isn't so much to give crumbs to the supposed needy. It's to get players to expand their playing experience. Rather than just rotating the same sets of TF/SF that people only run on one side, maybe more would participate in varying content. And even if they don't, people that do will be rewarded.
