Interesting. I've got a quick question about Illusion/Time. I'm not super familiar with Controllers; I've played a Plant/Fire Dom and I've poked around with different Illusion toons but never all the way through to Phantom Army and I know absolutely nothing about Time. I have an Illusion/Time concept that I really want to go with (pulling past and future versions of yourself to help in a fight, that kind of thing) and I was curious about their synergy (or lack thereof).

Are there any decent Time guides out there? I don't mean just generic sample builds but a breakdown of the various powers, their strengths and weaknesses, what to skip, consider and absolutely take, etc? I haven't been able to find any but admittedly my search-fu is a bit weak.

    it'll work well.

PA are damage immune pets, that on the controller version (not on dom version) taunt.

so you can place them to absorb mob aggro, take alpha hits which entirely do nothing to them, etc.

you want recharge on illusion, so to make PA permanent as a primary goal. recast replaces existing entities, but having recharge down so that once they expire you can immediately replace them --> gives you taunting bouncers. and thats great.

the fear pet is likewise immune, and just sits and casts fear cones with a -tohit component. again, v nice, and that ones easily perma/overlapping, allowing you to re-place it frequently.

time brings chrono shift, which will assist you (and team, not pets) with recharge globally, and heal them aswell.

the aoe heal is decent and has a heal over time bolted on.

you have farsight - which buffs sustain, and perception.

you have a chance to hold bubble you can place.

all in all, time is nice.

  2. ^ water is very good aoe, and the snipe replacement isnt too bad, but is what people complain about.

fire is extraordinary. dont skip of fire breath due to its cast time. with the artillary set its range is much improved, and it ticks for LOTS.

if mobs arent moving, ice rains can be very damagey.  but water just keeps smacking stuff, and with decent damage type spreads.

  3. its not rly a fair compare to pick buffed st (10s in case of bu)

-> where psi is strong aoe, with scream at 60ft range on a 16s cd, and shockwave pbaoe on 20s).

no one ever talks about how awesome thorny assault is, except me, Figs, of course...

  4. nearly all the time: offensive, especially when you can easily handle the reduced sustain.

taking too much damage and dipping: defensive

    being sapped: efficient

i tend to bind these to something like z, alt+z, ctrl+z so its not a thinking/finding thing to switch moment to moment...

but nearly all the time, offensive.

  5. lords of the fallen 2023 is amazing. if you like souls, and didnt enjoy elden ring's tone with giant turtles with a human priest hat on their head, or wild disconnectedness.

    dark souls 4? yes. pls.

bloodborne 2 or remake, yes. pls.

more elden ring? eh, ill buy it because combats goodish...but too much horse in a crappy open world.

lords of the fallen is dripping with tone, has tons of npc questlines, has build variety worth a damn, seamless coop for basically whole game without being kicked when a boss dies, and PvP invasions!!!

theres not a covenant system like in ds3, with effective modes of pvp, though theres a smattering like.

anyways, good, good, good game. worth.

  6. i tried with starfield, i just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it... combat is primative in ways oblivion bettered, certainly melee wise.

the story is... bring on ai generation pls, tell it i want to be thought challenged, and to apply a pulp pap filter.

see, new vegas, it was silly, but was good. spacer.png

starfield isnt winning any goty, aside from whatever is literally handed it of industry courtesies and prop to business systems - a function of such awardings.

6mo from now, no more chatter. 10y from now? 'you mean the one that outer world did better, and the one that copied no mans sky poorly, using fast travel between warp points?'

im sure some people love it, just glad i played on xbox gamepass. i was so tempted to drop extra too so i could have played over the launch weekend.

I rather liked the first few seasons of MHA, but I kind of lost interest when they got to the arc where the villains were "training" and started unlocking all these new powers.  That being said, and while the game may be fun, I prefer the style of game where you create your own original character and get to take them on their own journey.  Maybe it'd be more interesting to me if you got to create your own character within the MHA universe and experience events from their perspective.  Also, and maybe I just missed it, but are there any "badass normal" heroes in MHA?

mha can be good, but it has ludicrous filler also. charscter design is neat, and the game is actually fun. zooming about as pre-meth addict burnout all might while spamming emotes is entertaining.

badass normal? i dont think so. theyve all 'quirks' of a kind.  though im hardly an expert, so maybe.

my favorite in the game is dabi, who can place fire bombs enemies cant see, do an aoe kick, and fire homing projectiles...  games take around 10m, so its bitesize. you play in teams of 3, and there are 8.

anime tho, of recent shonen like: aside from boruto, which with naruto before it is kind of my lifetime soap opera...

bungou stray dogs, chainsaw man, demon slayer, and to an extent jujutsu kaizen are good imo. and the new netflix one 'goodnight world' was fun.

Another question brings me back to this

so does the pet only use powers you use, or does it “know” things you might have skipped? I’m thinking the first, but I just wanted to check.

it does what you do, with a slight delay.

its quicker following up single target things, but it can be a few seconds for aoe.

it also seems to queue stuff a bit, so if it moves into range itll do echoes from the past. how exactly that functions, i dunno.

it is quite hardy, not grav pet hardy, but certainly capable of taking sustained hits.

if it gets trapped or lost (it can fly), resommoning it is helpful.

some people use tp other to summon it, but this is overkill imo.

tye symphony set is very strong, and the pet is marvelous even at what i'd call 60-80% efficacy as an ai contrilled unit.

simply, stacking dom mag 6 with pet echoes at 3, and having many of those do things like damage as well as their cc... its quite effective.

symphony/fire messes up stuff hard. symphony/psi is also decent.

and so much aligns with coneish range.

i use combat tp to move quicklu back and forth into and out of melee (search my other awesome posts for combat tp macros)

  9. single target status dispels (as a mez buff, which breaks the mez) i think was the thought.... and maybe if we called these 'esuna' its seem more like what someone thought the healer should be doing with their time.

i.e. see defuff and dispel as point cast, or respond to the rare but still posted 'zzzzz' from team mates (the height of egocentrism!)

itd be nice for them to be aoe, but if they were youd blanket every 1m30 or less, as opposed to 'playing healer dispel duty'...

agree with much of ops suggestions. nature vs empath shines nature EXCEPT when heal output is st oriented and requires chain cast.  could you be thermal at that point... ya, and likely doing ok plus having put res shields.  your just missing the second st heal that hurts you.

sonic resonance is trash (go thermal), aside from the -rez toggle you put on a player.

pain dom is a bit lack luster too, the aura is nice, the scream is ok... but empaths two aura buffs are stronger than that aura, and work when people move away, which they tend to.

are empath and sonic res underpowered, for want when be heals'y? yes.

as for empath and pain as 'i get hurt spells to heal you'. we get shit blood magic, and should have 'profaned land'

Doesn't all the DoT mess with the sleeps, though? Or did you not take those?

    any hit does.

the value is from non-aggro, and its quickness.  in short, you can use it as an infiltration tool, and it 'feels' rapid.  the ST sleep mesmerize is choice lvl 1 power pick, better than levitate.

mass hypnosis is superquick fire, and non aggro, does not damage. it feels snappy.

the single target sleep damages, has boosted range, and high mag - it is an extremely good power mind has.

its only if you play another set you realize theres better vs mass hypnosis, in practice.

if you solo value only infiltration capability, then mass hypnosis is superior, because it does not notify mobs.

plant sleep - somewhat similar, no damage, but slower. does notify mobs. inferior by compare.

elec sleep - to answer your question, this is the solution to damage waking mobs.  the sleep patch pulses, putting mobs back to sleep. it also drains end.  practically, even while not benefitting from mag boost via dominate, elec sleep patch 'static field' is by far the most *esp on teams* useful aoe sleep. it turns something thats more a snap stun, broken by next hit or instantly in real combat, into a useful hard'ish control.

symphony sleep is notifying, and just one hit... but.. it damages, and puts -20% attack down on hit targets in a 70ft 45 degree cone, on base 45s cd.  you can proc it up with sleep ones, and ranged aoe damge ones.

  11. the show is quite good, and noticed a few things:

    - it uses brittish'isms, for terms such as 'snogging'. in this respect i think the dialogue writers enjoyed skins.

    - they have lots of sex

    - they talk about desires in a unabashed way, perhaps this is what the world is like now?

its decent - invinsible season 2 is more my thing tho.

'not like that!' - Figs, to the rogue isles creepers

    for mind?

    - savage for the tp

    - psi for aoe

    - but...

    honestly tho...

    - symphony

    - unless youre hellbent on confuse (in which case plant, and if youre not a disorient cone in symphony is your friend with massive dot, oh, and an echo pet)

    - mind is eclipsed by symphony, entirely, with the thin argument of cast execution timing on powers or not having to position massive cones with plenty give. (get, learn, and luv combat tp)

mass hypnosis is obliviated by elec's sleep patch. likewise the sleep in symphony also puts a -dmg.

mind has tk, but most ignore this.

it is very strong on dom, and should not be skipped. single slot awesome.

mind maintains the best fear cone, but theres not much in it vs symphony. symphony layers damage better generally... oh, and the pets gonna double your fear cone cast (meaning mag 9! if your on dom), and does this for all control powers

but rly, rly rly, symphony betters mind on dom.  pick fire.

  13. or berries you and team can pick, they become a temp power, last 30m, have a few charges.... strong hot.

  14. you must mean my wonderous best of 2023 threads!

i was surprised to see elec do so well, but the reasons outlined make quite a case.

elec blaster is pretty great - the shocked mechanic, especially elec/elec as you'll tale them low, works well.

however, tesla cage is AWFUL, AND the little proc it enables does like 5-15 damage on the splashes... its awful.

    never tried the sentinel version.
