    I've not sat down to watch the Starfield YouTube videos yet, but I've heard that despite the similarities, there's a major difference:  NMS is 256 galaxies with trillions of worlds, but a limited amount of variety in those worlds.  Starfield, I'm told, is around 1000 systems and their planets, and more detail in those worlds.  Quantity vs. detail quality.  Whether that detail difference means more flora and fauna per world, I don't know. If what is reported to me is accurate, that would seem to make them very different.

     

    What's the "less ability to explore"? Is that a reference to fewer worlds, more limited ground movement, etc?

     

    its empty.

     

    when you 'go forward randomly' in fallout 3/new vegas/4, hell even 76, you encounter many things.  

     

    not so in starfield, theres 15m stretches of walking over nothingness regularly.

  2. imma wait to try it free on gamepass, but have to admit its been burning a hole in my pocket to get it over the long weekend...

     

    but i picked up darktide on steam instead on sale... as theyre reworking the classes in october, AND... there were some danger level problems in many starfield reviews:

     

    1/ bad story - i am not enough of a space fan to excuse terrible writing quality in narrative

    2/ it resembles no mans sky - but with less ability to explore

     

    i really like fallout and elder scrolls (moreso fallout) - there's an ambience in particularly new vegas I love.

     

    for me, thats entirely absent in starfield.

     

    good luck to those who dive in!  maybe I'll fall in love with it on the 6th.

    i should be more clear - they're doing more damage with shocked (and in general) than a defender, by far.  mind you, they dont have an primary like elec affinity, so different figs 🙂

    they just have to be low end. and i can tell you, it goes off all the time on elec/elec blaster.

     

    literally everything(?) in both primary and secondary elec blast/elec manip, and voltaic sentinel, clip end. i mean subtract it, versus affect recovery.

     

    its this effect, to the best of my knowledge, youll see it as a child where shocked exists as a mechanic.

    it just doesnt, practically, work.  you will not be a malta sapper, no matter what you do with ANY elec combo.

     

    elec/elec blaster works probably most here, simply because you keep layering them (and triggering SHOCKED)... but its LESS effective CC wise than would be ice (due to recharge and slow debuffs), or psi (because it also mucks with recharge)

     

    the mob npcs kind of cheat... sure, you'll notice them not doing something for a second, but unless you can floor them immediately (kin, sometimes, on LTs or 'maybe' a regular trash boss --> and one cannot with an AV, period) --> the mechanic is ineffectual, largely.

     

    again, and unfortunately, we'll never be a malta sapperever.  even if you slot EVERYTHING for end drain / dmg sets.

     

    having said that, I love elec control, I ❤️ my elec/elec blaster, I even have a figs variant whos elec/shield stalker.  but not because they're sappers. 

     

    if anything, the end return on elec skills is nicest aspect of this.

    ive been meaning to make an arrow/tac arrow. i had a beam rifle/tac arrow, and enjoyed the 2ndary.

     

    i hear some builds can get rain o arrows down to some 15s!

    I provided my vote in text versus using the poll provided as it doesn't allow me to vote the way that I would.

     

     

    And that goes for all three categories that they poll allows me to vote in.

     

    I guess I can say that:

    I play less Sonic, Radiation, and Fire than the other primary sets. I'm not even sure if I have a Blaster with Radiation as the primary.

    I play less Dark, FIre, Ninja, and Sonic than the other secondary sets. I don't think I have any Blasters with Atomic, Devices, or Temporal secondaries.

    I only have one character with a villian epic pool power, and I don't think they are a blaster. I think I only have couple of blasters that have picked an epic, and the only ones that I know for sure that would pick epics would take Munitions to get the LRM Rocket due to character conception.

     

    So you see, it is impossible for me to vote in your poll due to my situation.

    most meta is really highly subjective, but theres some that among, say, primary sets, would be high up on a tier list for anything.

     

    our probably most powerful raw is fire.

     

    our most meta, these days might be assault rifle due to the rework.

     

    maybe less so with storm as its underwhelming to some/most.

     

    psi? it got buffed, and psi darts is much improved. the range buffs from the snipe are funny when combined with many cones.

     

    Sonic secondary 'should' get more love than it does, and im hoping we see some votes for

    dual pistols/mental, or dp/ice etc.

     

    rad blast is sort of crappy on a blaster, as youve not the monster debuff numbers from defender/corruptor, and hit pretty weakly.

     

    same goes for dark blast.

     

    but all that above, is my damned opinion, and definately not meta to player-abc.

     

    so, if you choose to vote, pick what you'd advise to yourself, if you were rolling fresh perhaps.

     

    if thats your flavor of the day, so be it, and please 😀

    - best primary

     

    fire 🔥 - damage, dots, damage

     

    energy - skilled kb users or many kb->kd, or those who like chaos

     

    ice - rains, good st chain.

     

    seismic - much survive vomes from the kd pbaoe effect, staligmite empowered hits tons, cone is quick, i know this works well on a kin corruptor, tho not done blaster.

     

    water - good aoe. some people dont like water jet 

     

     - best secondary

     

    fire - eh, sure. i dont like the pbaoe, its so slow. cauterizing aura is good.

     

    elec - nice mix for slot diversity, good survive toggle 

     

    energy - range, powerboost, and stun interactions? hard hitter melee.

     

    devices - never done it, bombs and stuff

     

    temporal - recharge focus, shield on the survive toggle.

     

     - best epic power pool

     

    firey - bonfire, self rez

     

    mace - def shield

    zappy!

     

    tesla cage spreads chains!

     

    works well with combat teleport binds to hop in and out:

      /bind ` powexec_location target combat teleport
    
      /bind shift+` powexec_location 180:40 combat teleport

     

    elec epp adds a nice, and thematic, cone, among other usefuls.

     

    its not quite fire damage, but its not too far off.

  13. mmm, on city of data the blastwr sets are all data'd up with the shock effect (its the ones where you see an equation on mob endurance as a child effect, the tesla cage thing is something else and is also a pretty awesome addition for elec blasters)...

     

    i dont see it there.

  16. sort of.

     

    a npc sapper can take you and hold you at 0 end effectively, stopping recovery for a time, leaving you at an end value too low to do anything.  the kind of thing that gets you detoggled armors, and most disconcerting!

     

    you can sort of do this to mobs elec/elec, but they cheat a bit it seems.  cheat in that they keep acting more than they might, at least brawling / basic shooting. probably bc these cost almost no end.

     

    but it does leave them standing longer than it might.

     

    more effectively than say ice slows, or psi recharge ruinination? thatd be different tho.

     

    more effective in elec, esp elec/elec as combo, and recently, is the shocked mechanic - if implemented on that elec set.

     

    i dont know if its on melee / armor sets.

     

    works for blaster, a lot.  extra strikes of dmg when end of target low. its not fire, but its a lot closer than before, and very zappy.

    is there a concise guide here on forums? people spatter comments like various slash commands, particle count etc.

     

    way back when coh release, there wasnt the focus on accessibility there is now.

     

    a lot of games force popup for accessibility options on new game start, or deliberately repeat that on game first enter.  theyve a bunch of options, albeit less towards light strobe seizure prompters.

     

    it is important to avoid situations that could render you unwell / cause a damaging brain overload loop.

    an on dye gpu, like intel iris, is a portion of the cpu, which has (by comparison to dedicated hardware) a low end gpu built into the cpu

     there are an approximation of function found in dedicated gpus, and the elements that run it try their best.  newer ones even have things like very stripped down ray tracing cores.

     

    cpu-internal-gpus dont have dedicated memory, instead sharing the system ram, in current implementations.  this tends to be slower ram, and distant, when compared to dedicated hardware.

     

    if anything, on cpu gpu operation will contribute to heat.

     

    if it is OK for a while, then goes to crap, check heat.

     

    run 3dmark or another benchmark and compare with available common results to see...
