  1. So to bring back the topic from other thread, and trying to keep it nice, hard mode is not a monster that will force you to slot this way or play that other way, it is just an optional challenge setting, that you yourself decide to participate in, and so should abide by some mechanics like in any game that has you facing oponents who would love to see you hug the floor while you rather return that to them; it has been tested already at large that can be done with any at build and any type of team origin (even a pug), it is going to be a hardship if you are unprepared and just fool around or don't listen to leads and do your work?, well yes but that's on you, if you are having fun though and all on the team go with that vibe, cheers, there is not a single thing being enforced or railroading you this way or the other, there is even optional ways to avoid the worse engagements (more options inside an optional feature!, madness). In my personal experience, I have gotten used to a certain way to go in runs, and had to rewire my brain the first three times in, which was great, it is never good to entrench oneself on "what works best".

So you do not have any empirical data I take it?  Thought so. 😉  I totally agree that experiences will vary.  However, I am not the one making sweeping generalizations about the playerbase as whole.

Anyway, seems like this is a circular argument which I really have no use for, so good day and good luck to you.

Mmm, it is a bit shady you demand data that no one will be collecting and stablish that your arguments are facts simply because that is not available, I could say I can breath on the moon since there is no data of me going there and not being able to breath, and then of course you one-sidedly declare the discussion over and leave. While every person personal experience is unique, when there is a generalized feeling among the player base that support alts are cut out of certain runs, and you have regularly on in game chats things like "the answer for everything in this game is damage" going on, not to mention how many support at's struggle to cast two powers together before most of the team already is three rooms away, and that actually sparks a response from the Devs, who clearly are aware of such things, to try and balance things, I would say that is all the empirical data you need, of course you are free to not accept it as is obvious your opinion is already settled.

Yes, but I am talking about Relentless, not 2x8.

Relentless is much much harder, than 2x8.  2x8 is a walk in the park in comparison.

We have done Relentless over and over with various setups and nothing is really mandatory, now, if you want a "fast", minimum deaths, highly focused run, yes those things can be advisable, Relentless is not such a monster though, can be done even by a pug team that fools around and has fun, the only thing that will change is the time it will take to finish, and how many rezes there will be. The key is team play, if everyone listens and follows, and every at focuses on their field of expertise, it flows smoothly (until you get nuked but thats the fun of it!).

Well, that too is bad behavior.

Bad behavior on their part doesn't excuse other people's bad behavior.

Agreed 100%, I was just referring at the fact the person posting is the reason people get's frustrated and (the ones with patience) want to leave that run as soon as possible, and the others just get out of there, thus making her or his complaint kind of moot. If it was from some other person it could be discussed at large.

    Relentless #3 completed.

I cannot stress strategy and team composition enough, ahaha.

I'm having fun but holy shit does Relentless get dicey if you make one slight mistake.

On OHKO powers; Those are almost always telegraphed. Brickernauts glow, Incandescent glows.
Stuff also just hurts a lot more. No more relying on softcap defense.

Man, why you got to give me flashbacks when I enter the forums, my favorite part "Be careful with the pulls" *EVERYTHING COMES AT US* it has been a long time since I had this mix of laughing my arse off and anxiety.

You're right of course. Really I just wanted to illustrate how a change like this can multiply options in the character creator without adding new pieces. Just being able to combine existing pieces in new ways would keep us busy. This was the principle behind separating right and left options for the shoulders, gloves, boots, etc.

Maybe proliferate both lists in both categories, eliminating combos that just look like crap graphically due to clipping, etc. Though I still say some mess on the fringes of the game's design has been useful for us costumer creators and base builders. We can exploit that messiness to great effect sometimes. So the neatness isn't always necessary or overall harmful to the game's attractiveness, sometimes it can be an asset.

I agree wholeheartedly, don't want Naomi to murder me though :P

The best thing about these changes is that they're localized and optional, but I'd really like to know if the dev team will be collecting any Use data regarding them, if such a thing is even possible. For some reason, I'd like to know how many people are completing content at these difficulties so I can really see how much of the "I want harder content" crowd is putting their money where their mouth is.

Not official in any way, but I have been seeing people going in and out the ASF all day long (and last night) which was nice because usually most people dont participate that much on Brainstorm.

On that note, right now when a team leader tries to interview potential teammates in most cases, with rare exceptions for really difficult challenges, that seems to be a sign that they're not a very good player or that they may be a control freak. If relentless difficulty goes live as it currently stands there's a good chance that needing to PM a prospective team leader with an explanation of how you fit well into the team becomes a significantly more frequent occurrence.

There is a potential downside to forcing team play based on roles, in case that's presently being set aside as a concern.

This new approach was literally encouraged because of players "interviewing" and being nitpicky about what at's they let join their runs and why, if you want to min max your team and leave out others that are playing to have fun, it is of course your choice and you will find plenty focused players, but if that becomes the norm we then end up with teams with 7 blasters and support players sit on the bench, the hard modes, which again, are entirely optional, can be done with most any team configuration as long as there is variety of at's, you need the support, you need the control, you need the aggro management, you need the dps, it conveys pretty well that no man is an island, and that you can actually have fun while going at apparently insurmountable ods and dying 20 times on a good day, plus reteach us how to be team players.

Honestly combining both lists of pieces, then putting them in both Detail 1 and Detail 2 would allow for some really great combos. Obviously many would conflict and just wierdly clip, but the minor examples of this have never stopped costumers before. Sometimes they can even be turned into features, not bugs.

We need to have some method, just proliferating everything everywhere whatever the clipping costs for the sake of variety in the long run won't do, I was all for it until I found how hard our graphical devs work to make things neat and clean.

The OP was serious about their post.

And I think they have a good point.

To me there was nothing silly about it.

I take it you have never joined a team lead by the OP my friend, she, or he, is a train wreck that either gives ZERO pointers and expect everyone to be a mind reader (because there WILL BE rant at you be sure), or spends the whole run telling you how you should run your AT while being on a wholly different AT and not doing its pertaining work.
