I tested what I could on brainstorm but wasn't able to get on any earlier than that to test it. Sounds to me like they didn't have the right people testing it beforehand.

There is brilliant people doing those, they were already deeply into the mechanics of the game back on live, and they are to thank for many of the improvements we see today on powersets and enhancements.

  2. Wish to add, in case someone doesn't know, these powers were extensively tested by many people beside the devs for months before even reaching Brainstorm, and many heated arguments were had about every particular aspect of them. So, while now that they went live, someone can see something that was (by a very, very, veeeeery low chance) overlooked because each personal view is unique, taking the "so see, this here is bad and should be this way" approach is not gonna add anything of worth at this point. Should rather go post some idea at suggestions or a mathematically based practical use feedback.

The problem with the joker is what does he attack with? He isn’t the most combat orientated villain.

I would say traps might be good for the type of character. Perhaps Illusion/Traps, with the phantom army as duplicates?

A good approach is using the mirror looks of Phantom army, use one of your slots to make a henchmen costume, summon them mirroring that, then change to the Joker one for you, great for screenshots.

This is why you are most likely a very good leader. Most of the arguments against it being the leader's fault are still based around assuming a certain level of understanding and familiarity. I've seen leaders flip out and cuss and insult a guy for griefing a run including accusations that the guy knew exactly what he did... and the guy will chat back indicating he honestly had no idea.

And if you go back to the instructions, it often wasn't explained well.

Veracor is one of the BEST, top notch, and also humble about it so of course he is going to agree with you, but I have to agree with the rest instead, most of the time fails happen because of the league/team members, not the leader, I have ruined runs, knowing what I was meant to do, and not knowing, I have seen others mess it up on purpose for "fun", I have seen players not giving two damns about the detailed indications and caring patience of leads, and yes I have seen leaders too not giving a damn about any strategy or composition and being the equivalent of French officers on trench warfare in WWI, but they are few; all in all your statements are too generic and coming from your personal perception, raids, trials, tf's, fail for several reasons, and the best way to deal with that is to be vocal about it, ask questions, make suggestions, contend decisions, visit the wiki, do a pre-run without pressure, who knows, you may end up leading your own runs and doing it properly.

Did an all Defender Dr Aeon SF.  If you have Becky with you on the last mission, do not take her into the last room with Midas.  Our problem was Midas aggroed on Becky, there is no way to get Becky into a cauldron, so no way to defeat Midas.  We could briefly and occasionally get Midas into a cauldron, but he would always teleport back to Becky.  So, in the end we just let her dies to finish the SF.

There are a couple ways to deal with that before hand, its all about how your team strategizes, if you let her get face to face with Midas from the get go, you are only left with one particular option to break her apart.

Edit: Well perhaps two, but the second one is very build specific.

  6. The game upgrades will always lean towards encouraging and improving team playing, because that is the core nature of the game, solo players dedicated stuff will never be made, the team has limited resources and applying them into that is a luxury, or a waste, what can happen is that this or that mechanic benefits those who like to play alone, and the devs won't axe it out of consideration. Despite how we like to enjoy the game (and how we can get away with it thanks to peculiar things like soft capped defense among others), it is and will always be multiplayer.

  7. From my point of view the arachnos and crey got so much better, now they feel like a real threat and not just food for the grind, while the first time I got utterly blinded was frustrating, then hilariously despairing, was overcome quickly by using aoes, inspirations, temps and incarnates when allowed and adjusting the build a bit, plus if you run on a team with some support they could cover you, now, if we run solo, on high difficulties, without inspirations, temps and/or incarnates, well, its a given they will kick our ass, or at least, frustrate us to their content.

Nope, can't do one with these, as far as I can see. They disappear if you move, the self-propelling pieces put you in the "slipping" animation, which would break other animations, AND, you have to be floating in water to use the innertubes, which is also a position from which it's impossible to be propelled under current conditions. Sadly, lazy rivers will have to be bobfests, no moving. But hey, now you can bob in style. 🙂

At least they look wonderful in swimming pools, and remain active even if "submerged" between water patches.

So as to the no inspirations on hard modes except the resurrect varieties mean the ability to combine inspirations to any other type is disabled?  And are pre-existing inspiration buff(s) suppressed upon mission start ?  *makes note to note what happens upon level up*

You can combine them even when you cant use them (we were getting more wakies that way once we ran out of them).

We just end up waiting a long, long time for things sometimes...

I don't think you can blame people for being a little impatient.

(*says probably the only person on the server who's still waiting/hoping for that second round of Circle costume bits that the guys got several years ago to finally be ported to the female frame*)

That is the thing, being impatient with a labor of love that is done absolutely free and with no obligation by a small group of crazy people (who also has to pay their everyday bills like us) is kinda bitchy, I do get it as I would love to have a bunch of extra things that were left in waiting or crazy ideas I see somewhere else, but try to keep it to the "man wouldnt be great to have x someday?" and "will x be able to be done eventually?" as they love feedback and suggestions, but I do avoid lecturing the people doing the actual work on what they should have done or should do, if I was able to volunteer to work with the devs into making the graphic pieces then porting them to the game and tying up the code, absolutely, but as things stand now for me, I rise both thumbs up and tell them to go for whatever it is they think is best.

Well, this is probably fair enough in general but a wee bit hyperbolic give Naomi's statement about the Gold Bricker jetpack specifically. It was stated that they were "going to do a tintable Gold Bricker pack + legacy pack" save for an existing and ongoing discussion about customizable jet pack powers in general. I read that as saying that the GB jet packs could have been added along with the other Gold Bricker parts and had they been, they would now be undergoing the extensive testing and refitting you mentioned. They nixed it because of what seems some overall plans to make the combinations of back / flight options and powers (vaguely) "better" but with the caveat that it isn't a promise of a planned feature and if this overall improvement is significantly delayed, the GB jet packs (and presumably others) may be added ahead of said improvement anyway...which may or may not even ever happen.

Yes, I do find it a bit strange to add the costume parts of an established enemy group while leaving off their primary costume feature but I'm not, like, mad about it. I appreciate all the volunteer devs do. I just echoed the sentiment of someone else in the thread and while I am aware that the genie is out of the bottle and that there will probably always be someplace to play CoH as long as tech allows, I still operate under the possibility that this could all go away some day rather suddenly so I would rather we get to experience what we can, while we can. If a shut down ever befalls HC, I can't see starting it all up again someplace else.

    I'm not saying I wouldn't...only that I can't see it at the moment. 😉

They have a planning route scheduling, when something gathers enough agreement, it becomes an item in said route, said items then are grabbed when there is available people to work on them and the time is right, taking on account whatever connections they have and the ripples they may cause to the game, and thus you have pages and issues (as in issue 27, not a problem) forming. By Naomi statement I get that there is the intent of adding new options to the mentioned powers (which I saw in fact being discussed while the whole of page 3 was still being molded), and thus since there would be a direct connection with the Gold Bricker piece, and it would be an unnecessary hassle to return to it once the other modification is applied, they will pack both together for future release, which makes sense, same has gone with many other things we don't hear much about, thus page 3 release is huuuuge. Regarding Homecoming permanence you should not worry much, the devs are playing the long game for solid reasons, just looking at the logo in our very own client-launcher and the return of allowed streaming tells enough. While I do recognize is tempting wanting to pour all the cool things possible asap, and isn't in any way something bad or reprehensible, in the end it doesn't work well for balance, performance and stability, as other servers are living proof of.

I"m freaking blind or something, where do I actually get the script?

Do you want the actual thing to get a look at it?, in that case you should contact AboveTheChemist but if you are meaning to use it, it is incorporated in the Beta servers. Click the dialog bubble on the lower right of the chat window, same as you do to get emotes, there you will see it, you can as well go into it on misc options and make a macro button for it pop anywhere there is an open spot on your first three powertrays.

  13. Releasing something that has not gone through extensive testing and refitting is not a convenient approach, since then the Devs will have to revisit that at one point, and with the huge pile of things already in a waiting list to be fixed, would be like trying to contain a fire by tossing something combustive at it. The time and hands of the team are limited. Got to go for the most efficient way. Many people would like anything extra to be released at once just for fun and giggles, but we have to settle on what is feasible for the benefit of the game as a whole and it's progress in time.

I would wager the Innertubes would be assigned to the environment interaction part of the emote menu?

Also... as a hero we should all set a good example, and perhaps we can get life vests that puff or pop out in a similar manner? That and Villains need some way to cheat a watery grave. 😉

Nah, my hero likes to go raw, life vests are for working hours.

  15. On regard to the concerns of some players about the length of the ASF, some peeps at Brainstorm are already making it from 2 hours downward, approaching hour and a half at ease some, there is a lot of strategies, build tweaks, and maneuvering you can do to speed it up, you just have to find out. And if a group is doing a baptism, pug, kill all or lore immerse runs, one should know beforehand the time investment that requires. It ain't Alpha Strike that is for sure.

Leveling up to Two did the trick. Curious that Level One can’t make the transfer, however, I’m not going to stress about it.😁

It makes sense to me because level one is what you have just out of the character creator, you have not really played the char in a shard until it reaches level 2.

  17. I think going out of one's way to ask not to add a solo mode is as pointless as complaining about extra hard ones, people enjoy to play the way they want (or have no other choice because of real life but don't want to entirely abandon the game), and they will keep trying to play that way, be solo, challenges, roleplay, or never leaving the AE, the costume creator or the base editor, now, if you somehow push them to play another way, they may do it but they not gonna enjoy it and that will end up making them disengage the game, more options is ALWAYS good, we are not going to lose team mates to run the group content we like, because those who want to play solo for a myriad reasons didn't want to join us in the first place and if they do, they are not going to be the best kind of team mates (not for being mean, but just because they are not into it), then, if there is a day I am too busy to properly work with a group or if i just want to slowly, at my pace, read every single bit of lore and click every neat little secret on the map, that is part of also enjoying the game, just like this new beauty the hard modes are; not everyone is privy to the technical secrets that allow you to perform either way, or has mastered the way to build accordingly, sure there is a large, helpful and patient player base that can help you with any of that, but again, we are many types of players, all bind together by love to CoH but that focus on different aspects of it, an easier easy mode will be again, optional, and going alongside lesser rewards, will ensure it is not exploited, those who want it will use it, those who don't, will pass from it, pretty sure the Devs are working based on players feedback with the intention to balance whichever new feature is added, so that we all keep playing.
