  1. Is it still happening today? I understand there were server issues over the long weekend. If it is: Wireless or hardwired to network? If wireless does it continue when hardwired? Is it happening after a certain time, either time of day or after a regular interval of play? Cable (Altice, Cox), DSL (Frontier, Verizon), Satellite (Hughes, Dish), LTE (Cellphone carrier like ATT or Verizon Wireless), or dial-up connection?
  2. I'll make a heretical comment here, but use Creamsoda. It is lighterweight and as far as I have seen using/testing both it is more reliable. Creamsoda with Homecoming is the winning team just like Killian and Cadre Cola.
  3. Go to the Discord and ask there. Most of the GMs are on that.
  4. It should work OK. The Intel UHD graphics set is the next version of the HD set my wife's laptop, which is the oldest of the three we have, and she runs CoH at the Ultra-details including the cell shading without issue. The only thing I would say is you will almost assuredly get an out of date graphics driver message when you run the program. It can be safely ignored.
  5. The game predates multi-core processors and was designed with XP 32bit 2 GB RAM limit in mind. It's probably relying on a single core as opposed to distributing the work load a modern game would do and ignoring the rest of the RAM. Basically, you've got more engine than this game can handle so it won't push any faster. You might be able to do some graphics tweaking to improve performance but outside of that allocating additional resources isn't going to help.
  6. You are in luck because CoH will run on what is essentially a potato by today's standards. At my house 3 of us play on laptops that range from a $300 Walmart Dell that's 3 years old to a $700 tablet convertible all with on-board video and the best having 8GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 4 Core processor. As long as you stay away from a Celeron or Atom processor it should run. Here are the original system specs for CoH: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/city-of-heroes/10282
  7. Start by isolating the problem. Plug 1 PC directly into the modem. if the problem still occurs it's on the modem side. If it doesn't, it's the Linksys. If it's the modem and it is owned by your ISP, have them replace/troubleshoot. If it's yours and you can post a log from when the connection dropped, that would be helpful. If it's the Linksys I would start by resetting it to factory defaults. Back up your config, if possible, first. There should be a button on the back you can push in with a pen that when held down for 5-10 seconds will trigger a factory reset. Then set it back up and see if the problem recurs. If it doesn't you're fine until the config gets corrupt again, which happens on Linksys and other low end equipment. It's the price you pay for a lower cost and something you'll have to deal with unless you're willing to shell out more money. I'm not so I just get my junk at Walmart and deal with it. If the problem is still happening immediately after resetting the Linksys it's chunk and move on. I gave up on Linksys a few years back and spent a few extra bucks on Netgear and Arris for the same performance level and saw a longer life and more reliable service.
  8. Close Tequila Open a command prompt and type in ipconfig /flushdns Hit enter See if it does it again. If so, click view certificate and cut and paste text. Also, that looks like the Windows 2k/XP security alert dialog box. Might want to upgrade Windows.
  9. Do you have any other security software installed, like Norton Internet Security? I ran a sniffer while I launched the game and found Tequila makes a call to one IP, then the game client another, then a third. All three need to be unblocked to play. It isn't being blocked at the switch/router/ISP level or your wife would not be able to play either. A quick look at my install shows that Tequila is generating a log that ends when you click "Play" but the log files for the game itself are not being generated. Those would be a huge help. Without that I'm just troubleshooting based of general internet related issues. From another post I did CoX needs access to at least these three IPs: Tequila looks at: 178.128.143.231 Login/Authentication: 178.62.218.227 Game Server: 128.199.33.161 Can you run a Tracert from the command prompt? use 'Tracert 178.62.218.227' You should see something that looks like: 4 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms <Your ISP> 5 45 ms 42 ms 42 ms dls-b21-link.telia.net [213.248.88.228] 6 40 ms 43 ms 41 ms dls-b21-link.telia.net [62.115.113.85] 7 40 ms 40 ms 40 ms atl-b22-link.telia.net [80.91.246.74] 8 142 ms 141 ms 141 ms ash-bb4-link.telia.net [62.115.125.129] 9 140 ms 140 ms 140 ms prs-bb3-link.telia.net [62.115.112.243] 10 149 ms 149 ms 149 ms adm-bb3-link.telia.net [213.155.136.20] 11 150 ms 150 ms 150 ms adm-b1-link.telia.net [62.115.136.195] 12 140 ms 140 ms 140 ms digitalocean-ic-335926-adm-b1.c.telia.net [213.248.81.75] 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 141 ms 140 ms 140 ms 128.199.33.161 If not we have a connection issue. if we do it is a game client issue. I would remove it and reinstall at that point.
  10. Disable Windows Firewall and try again.
  11. I had issues in Win 10 1809 as well. This solved it for me: Right click the Score.exe in your game folder and select properties Go to Compatibility>Change High DPI Settings Select both check boxes Click Ok Click Apply Click Ok Launch Tequila and connect to game Log into game and get to a zone with a character, doesn't matter which but do not change your screen setting until you are actually in the game Set the game to Windowed in the Graphics options Quit and restart game You are windowed but you can maximize it to make the most of your real estate. My laptop uses an AMD Ratheon Vega 8 onboard graphics chip and this was the only thing that worked for me. My wife has an intel chip and all she needed to do was run it in Windowed mode without the other rigamaroll, but he laptop is two years old while mine is just a few months.
  12. There is a 30 second timer once you log out before you can log back in. This was the same in the OG CoX. If you log out, log in again, get the error, you can then attempt to log in again and it should be gone. Sometime you will get logged back in to character select then it will tell you the character is already in the game. Quit the client then log back in to clear this issue. It usually happens after a Mapserver error or a crash after zoning.
  13. Right click on Tequila and select "Run as Administrator". When you do that, does the same thing happen?
  14. I just ran it from Tequila to Sewers and this is what the IPs look like for me: Tequila looks at: 178.128.143.231 Login/Authentication: 178.62.218.227 Game Server: 128.199.33.161 Not definitive, I just did it based on the eye test and timing, but those are the three IPs I see and all point toward Digital Ocean.
  15. Depends. It is a cloud hosting service. The service itself is "Safe" but I doubt they have vetted everything hosted on their servers. Look at your firewall/filter and see if you can open by IP. Run Wireshark and set it to log while you try to connect. Pull the logs and you should see a connection attempt to an IP. Whitelist that IP/Port. Do the same every time you encounter a block until you can play the game. This should open up Score CoX but leave the rest of the host blocked. But that's a general idea of what to do. Specifics based on your situation may very.
