Earth/Sonic Build Review

Good morning! 

 

Masochistically, I've really been enjoying this combo. Even before L32, it was surprisingly fun solo and great in any group. Frankly, I'm shocked. I'm about to run my patron arc for my epic pool and have been playing around with builds. I'd greatly appreciate any input or even an alternative build to consider. My initial focus is to manage endurance followed by recharge. To best take advantage of the shields and Disruption Field, I'd like to go after a patron pet -- almost like a budget mastermind. Also, the build below has an unassigned slot waiting for some attention. Thoughts? Criticism?

I always tip my hat to those that take the road less traveled and without checking I'm going to guess this combo isn't high on the FOTM list published recently.

 

I dig it (the build).  I had a couple of suggestions that upon closer inspection I changed my mind about (was going to suggest the 2 10% resist IOs but with your shields Stony will be capped to all but s and l and I don't that's worth 2 slots).

 

My suggestion for your last slot:  Shield Wall +Res/tp unique IO.  Scaling resists is tempting too.

 

The value seeker in me suggests putting the Glad Jav Acc/Dmg into Fossilize instead of Sup Winters Bite.  You'd get the same acc/dmg values, lose the end reduction but save 20M (that's a guess, didn't check current sales) and gain a global end redux improvement.  You could +++++ the Glad Jav which would provide better values than the Winter-O from acc/dmg.  This is true for the HO in Arcane Bolt as well.  

 

You don't lose a lot by taking the Recharge IO out of Water Spout (about 2 seconds).  I'd be tempted to throw in a Lady Grey proc.

 

One power selection I would do differently, at 49 I'd take Hibernate over Clarity.  That's a "season to taste" thing, I take Hibernate whenever feasible just because I like a good panic button.

Rather than comment on the build specifically I spent a bit of time looking at various options. This is a fairly difficult character to min/max, but my overall feeling is that it should be making using of Cardiac incarnate power for the alpha slot, and should bank on obtaining maximum possible Resistance with as much Defense as is feasible.

 

I found building for Range defense difficult, but after many tries finally came up with a build that is nearly capped Smash/Lethal, has 33.2% Ranged defense, has nearly capped Smash/Lethal resistance, plus Aid Other/Aid Self to patch heal. 

 

It does rely on the /Earth tertiary pool, which may or may not be attractive to you. 

 

Seismic Smash is procced out, and Mids estimates it hits for around 600 HP per punch, but I am unsure how reliable that number actually is.
