StoneKarma Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Thoughts? With Shinobi-Iri, some of the normal defense pool powers don't stack, like Hover and Combat Jumping. Left some slotting I'm not sure is being used very well. Divine Avalanche is +DEF to Melee and Lethal, with Melee already capped, not much use to Lethal so I went with Flashing Steel for a better cone attack with Damage. Kuji-In Retsu (this set's MoG), seems unnecessary, M/R/AoE are over 90%. Summon Widow also seems unnecessary. Is Shinobi-Iri good enough stealth that I can ghost missions and recall the team to the end of them like a Stalker can? Defenses: Soft-Capped Melee/Ranged/AoE Resistances: Smash/Lethal 65.6%, Psionics 48% This build does not have the Incarnate powers. It does use Rogue Epics. Looking for suggestions please? Combat jumping stacks just fine with Shinobi-Iri on the scrapper I ran this combo on. Unless you mean you are trying to throw ninja run in there too, combat jump and ninja run won't work together. But with this combo I treat ninja run as my "travel power" and run that and Shinobi-Iri when I'm traveling and then combat jump and Shinobi-Iri when I'm fighting. I'd be surprised if hover worked any different. Honestly I'd do that over taking fly, but that's a preference thing. As to the stealth question, Shinobi-Iri only gives 35ft of stealth in pve, same as a steatlh IO, so I'd think you'd still need to throw a stealth IO in sprint, along with Shinobi-Iri, to have full "invisibility". StoneKarma Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 Good to know. I was going based on the description in Mids-Pines. It says you can't use CJ and Shinobi at the same time. But, when I configured it that way, it let me run both at the same time. So, my next question would be: Do I get rid of something else to make room for CJ, or is having all of the positional defenses capped enough? I guess from your comment above, you'd just swap out Fly for CJ? But, do I need it? For reference, here is the in-game description of Shinobi-Iri: "Shinobi Iri are the ninjitsu techniques of silent movement and infiltration. These skills allow you to move at high speed, whether on the ground or leaping from rooftop to rooftop. This power also grants you defense against all positional attacks. While stealthed, you have a very high chance of landing a critical attack, however you can only attempt this after spending 20 seconds without attacking. This power cant be used at the same time as other stealth powers." And just to make sure I understand the stealth in sprint comment, you're talking about putting Celerity +Stealth into sprint and managing how Celerity procs to get the Stealth bump?
Riverdusk Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Swapping out fly for CJ or hover is what I'd do. Part of what makes Ninjitsu nice is that sprint+Shinobi-Iri+Ninja run = a pretty good travel power. The rare times you need to fly a long distance you can use a temp jet pack or rocket board or something, say in a place like the shadow shard. Which is what super jumpers/super speeders have to do anyway. But if you really want fly, not a big deal. Yes, put Celerity + stealth in your sprint or a prestige sprint and turn that on with Shinobi-Iri and as long as both are toggled on you'll have full stealth to where anything without extra +perc won't be able to see you even if you stand right next to them. 1
Sniktch Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 You can instead put Celerity or Unbounded Leap: Stealth in Shinobi-Iri itself, or at least you could last time I checked. That lets you have full Stealth without needing Sprint on, if you have a slot to spare. 1 2

However, if you have the slot to spare, you can add a slot to Sprint, put the END RED and Stealth IO from Celerity, and nab an extra 2.25% S/L Resist.

Made some more changes. I had LotG in here 5 times, per Mid's, only the first 4 will work. I now have Def M/R/AoE over the soft-cap and Resist S/L now are capped. I changed Shinobi's set from Red Fortune to Reactive Defense and this sort of freed up two slots. I think endurance drain looks good 1.22/s and Recovery 2.84/s I'm not 100% sold on Shadow Meld, but it recharges a LOT faster than Kuji-In Retsu and soft-caps all of my defenses (take THAT Rikti scum). Duration is 15 seconds, so should be a good oh **** button. And, there's no crash. Took out fly, kept Recall Friend for ghosting missions and general quality of life. Had room to just add Teleport as a travel power and that unlocked Long Range Teleport, so, overall an acceptable compromise. I guess if I just *had* to have flying, I could give up the Teleport pool, but what would I replace it with? Fly, Summon Widow (for LOLs), and what? I slotted Rectified Reticle +Perception into Concentration, but no other recharge. As is, it's at 40 sec. recharge. With a Recharge IO, it only drops to 35 seconds. For me, I'll take the 20% perception bonus. But does that help vs things like Smoke Bombs? FWIW: I think I may not be playing much CoH in the future, I've found this new game that is taking up all my time, it's called Mids Reborn? Anyway, here's the new improved version. the mauler Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 oops? you have psi as primary instead if katana in your second build post.
StoneKarma Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 Dang it. Wrong build. Well, FWIW, there's a Psi/Ninjitsu? I'll go find the right one and repost. I don't know what the etiquette is here, do I delete the Psi/Ninjitsu post or just go get the right one?
StoneKarma Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) Once more, with enthusiasm! Katana/Ninja Ok, I edited this build with a new one. I got rid of the Epics from the above build and replaced with Flashing Steel and Divine Avalanche. This also differentiates it more from the Psi build above. I thought it was interesting that in Mids', the two cones are identical in damage, recharge and endurance, but one just gives a DEF boost. This build gives two melee approaches, one is single target heavy the other has two cones + one AoE, I think it's interesting for being in the thick of a big mob. Defenses and S/L Resists are still capped. But it doesn't have an "Oh ****" button. But, why need it when everything around you is already "sleeping?" Because you put them to sleep. With your sword. (The best thing to de-buff is hit points.) Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.5https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build!
