I haven't really started slotting yet.  The Stealth IO in Sprint is intended to enhance the Stealth power.

 

1) Is this a good selection of powers for this build?  I wanted to be able to use all of the dual-blade combos.  I don't need Taunt.  I wasn't sure about Invulnerability, so I just did my best guess.  It seems to focus on Resistance vs all except Psionic.

 

2) What's a good Ancillary/Epic pool for this kind of build?  I haven't seen "Force of Will" yet.  Why would I choose Force of Will over Mu Mastery?  What else is good?

 

3) Should I change the order of acquiring the powers?  The powers themselves?  I chose Concealment over Fighting and Leadership because I like Stealth.

 

4) Any suggestions on slotting?  Especially for Psionic Defense and/or Resistance.

I do not see ant response to this so thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

Disclaimer; I play an Invul tank not a Brute but can provide some insight on the set.

 

Invul is more of a layered set than it is sometimes credited for being. You should be able to get to capped or at least comfortable S/L resist with out too much trouble. The two unique Resist IOs and generic IOs puts you close at ~78% S/L ) (with Tough) and the remainder at around 30% (except Psi). Invul also has decent defenses as well. Once more with the two unique Defense IOs and generics IOs you would be at ~28 defense (using Weave and Combat Jumping) to all damage types but for psi with 4 mobs in range. Invincibility is an amazing power and a cornerstone of your survivability. 

 

Dull Pain is is another power that makes Invul shine. You want it giving you as many HP as possible and want to keep it as close to perma as you can. Because Dull Pain increases your base HP it makes any regen you have that much more effective.

 

I would skip unstoppable as it not a good power. On my tank I have Rune of Protection from the Sorcery pool if I need a sudden resist buff though I will be re-specing out of it since I have Barrier now.

 

What about Psi? Back on live Psi was the bane of my existence. Currently though with all other damage types defense capped (positionals are ~20%), super high resist, and a massive HP pool with good regen I simply mitigate enough damage from other sources that what I take in Psi is not life threatening even with just 35% resist to it. In bad situations I use Barrier.

Well, I mean, it was two years ago.

 

FWIW, DB/Inv is a good example of a powerset combo that doesn't really make a ton of sense to do as a Brute.  You'll almost certainly have a better build as either a Scrapper or a Tanker.  That is:

 

  1. It's an armor set that doesn't have a damage aura (damage auras go well with Brute fury).
  2. It's an armor set that does have a taunt aura on a Scrapper.
  3. It's an armor set that has a heavy defense component so Scrappers don't give up a lot of durability on it.
  4. It's an armor set that really can take advantage of high Tanker base values since you want to bid up both defense and resistance on it.
  5. It's a melee set that heavily features a damage add, which is better on Tanks than Brutes and MUCH better on Scrappers than both.

I've done a Invul/SS build on a tank, agreed makes no sense on a brute.
