Rad / Dark Melee Tank critique help please

Hell, I'm back after a 10 year absence. Been playing for about 2 weeks now and built and leveled my tank to 50 and have him IO'd out now. I should of asked sooner before  slotted everything, but oh well. i I like running TF/SF/Radios and everything in between with this toon. I have enough respecs to alter/change based on your recommendations. So thank you in advance. My first priority was to go max Resistance S/L capped. Second, I use to run a invul tank back in the day, and my biggest problem was facing and taking PSI damage, so that was my next priority, boost PSI as high as possible.  With all the changes and builds available i went with a RAD /DM tank.  I do lack on the damage side so is this tank slotted appropriately, or did i go to heavy  S/L resistance and sacrifice in other slots? Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

Thanks for the input. It's a little different then my build. Have you tried it out?  I don't know if the the loss of DEF is worth the extra MEZ resistance. I'm not a fan of the presence pool, as i can just grab Taunt and with Beta Decay (albeit has a shorter radius), does wonderfully for jumping in mobs to keep aggro on me.  I like a having  a little more DEF. Thanks for the different build suggestions. It gives me gives me some ideas in the future. 😃 👍

Presence pool is primary for Unrelenting (self-rez)

I have not tested the build with sets, only SO so I don't know how it holds with them. Currently lacking some of the staying power I would like.

I did have another build I used, but the damage was much lower on it. Leviathan was another source for -resist and some ranged damage.

Some of the other choices were for character story. Granted powers from Greek pantheon. Persephone granted life force (Rad Armor). Hades granted Dark Melee. Poseidon for leviathan. Zeus for Ion incarnate. Aurora Borealis fit the story better than other Lore options.

I'm having a lot of fun playing this combo right now. I'm only level 30 but already working on +0/+6 with no trouble at all. I can prolly go higher but i'm just out having fun right now.

I've only got a couple procs put in but it still mows down mobs really well.

 

The damage of Shadow Maul now is just wonderful with the changes to tanks. It's now an absolute must take in my book.

 

I will say I have siphon life in my build because it allows me to keep topped off on health meaning I don't really have to slot rad therapy for anything other than procs giving a mini nuke to go with your other nuke in Ground Zero. If you put theft of essence end proc in this Radiation Therapy it becomes an instant full end bar with mobs surrounding you and it still heals a good amount.

 

I went experimentation for the damage boost at the end of the line like you did and it's nice but really only special stacked on top of Soul Drain. I think of it as an extended Aim. Speaking of more damage, Meltdown offers a decent chunk too so you might consider another bit of recharge on it. You can always use Rad Therapy or Soul Consumption to get back that end when it crashes.

 

My strategy so far is pretty simple. Target boss or EB, rush in and hit siphon life to absorb most of the alpha strike, then soul drain/nukaplenty/ shadow maul and clean up the stragglers. the -tohit in the dark powers is actually noticeable.
