Jim Talon
Im working on a psy/bio brute. Im looking for input from people with experience with regen. How much regen would it take to negate def/res caps?
macskull
If the question you're asking is "how much regen do I need to completely forego worrying about defense and resistance," the answer is "too much to reasonably obtain." This, but it sort of depends on what settings you're talking about. If you want +4/×8 the answer is I doubt hitting the AT's hard cap would do it (2500% for a Brute). If you mean at +0/×4 that's probably doable.
Coyote
Also, are you talking about not worrying about CAPS, or not worrying about Def/Res at all? I run a Brute with a build that'll have between 30 and 70% resists, so it's not near the caps (unless running Melee Hybrid), but it's high enough to be noticeable. Add in 50% Melee Defense (with no DDR), and it can be really tough in many situations. Even without great Regen. So the question would also be: how high defenses/resists would you have other than the regeneration?
Jim Talon
Well of course Ill have def and res. Just want to know what a good balance is that will sustain. The build is a bio
macskull
I wouldn't worry too much about passive regen on a Bio. If you've got decent def/res numbers Bio's click powers will carry you through just fine. 1 "If you can read this, I've failed as a developer." -- Caretaker Proc information and chance calculator spreadsheet (last updated 15APR24) Player numbers graph (updated every 15 minutes) Graph readme @macskull/@Not Mac | Twitch | Youtube

The argument here is what constitutes "decent" but I will agree with this and add that even with SOs my SS/Bio Brute little trouble with anything - you just might not be able to run in Offensive Adaptation 100% of the time against some groups. Now that the build is finished I only really have trouble with tons of psi damage. Edited January 23, 2021 by siolfir
