It is an amazing power, though of course subject to the weirdness of pet AI.

  • It has an aoe heal.
  • It spams sort of noticeable aoe damage with a root.
  • It has a hold that will stack with any holds you have.
  • It has the strongest tohit debuff in the game attached to it as a passive pbaoe aura.
  • On top of that, it casts its own darkest night as well! Double triple quadruple tohit debuffs. -Damage on top for a treat.

You'll very commonly see it 5 slotted with siphon insight to max out tohit debuff and achieve some solid accuracy.

Final slot goes to Cloud senses proc, as it applies to almost everything our cloudy friend can do, even the heal. The only thing that won't proc it is the hold.

You might consider another tohit set perhaps if you don't care about S/L defense, but achieving some accuracy in the mix is important, so accurate tohit debuff RECIPES are pretty optimal overall.

Whatever you do, make sure there are at least six of them. 😄

4x Cloud Senses, inc the proc, it goes off a fair bit in parses thanks to all his attacks having -ToHit. and one -ToHit IO (I used DW Despair, probably so I could slot it Attuned at 38 and not care after that) to max it out does me on Carni. Gives me a 6.25% recharge bonus and greatly increased his damage. Doesn't mean amazing damage mind, just that he actually does some now 🙂

Thanks to both of you.  Great info.  I have room to 6 slot Cloud Senses and I chase Ranged Defense on my Squishies.  This Corruptor is actually the easiest build I have made in a very long time.

Going from memory, I think I have 4x Cloud Senses and 2x Touch of the Nictus. Fluffy spams Twilight Grasp quite a bit and enhancing the heal is noticeable.

6 slot Cloud Senses

I think you'll find it very strong!

It's definitely not bad to enhance the heal, but those accurate tohit debuff set bonuses are hard to deny.

I don't worry about capping defense with Dark Miasma. Between Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare I've got 50% -tohit, plus another 65% from Fluffy's Chill of the Night and Darkest Night.

Threw the build up to give an idea of "how little" you really need to aim for defense. To further on what Uun said.. the amount of -tohit always being tossed and stacked you really only require roughly 18-25 and this is assuming you are playing 54/8 solo. Typically opening with just fearsome stare for the -tohit and tossing darkest night on any troublesome bosses or Eb at range secures your safety. Under most basic missions i rarely even have to use darkest night. In regards to dark servant lockdown can be swapped out for an additional nictus for the acc bonus if you are looking for even more acc overkill. Typically aiming for 144 is all which is required and the tohit boost from soul drain pushes you even more over that. This build was tailored to my own aggressive playstyle so may not be ideal for everyone. The proc in spirit ward is totally optional. I don't have any end issues with the build and found it worked nice for team support and keeping fluffy tanky so he can go murder things on his own.

I don't worry about softcap on any of my dark miasma characters, but can appreciate why someone would.

It's nice to have a solid baseline to fall back on if you are targeted by adds, or mobs otherwise outside your debuffs.

For me, fearsome stare is the most consistently used -tohit, as I am applying it every spawn both solo and on teams. Darkest night is there for solo work or blowup situations, but you have to anticipate the blowup a bit to account for the long animation.

Dark fluffy is great, but not always in position to apply his debuffs optimally.
