And if possible, probably not practical.

Split the Mastermind Primary into two choices:

The summon aspect (3 summons, 2 enhancements, 1 other power)

The attack aspect (3 attacks)

This way you could do something like match Mercenaries with Dark Blast or match Beasts with Archery. Etc.

It's a bit unreasonable though given the basic nature of how the power sets are designed.

it could be possible if the primary powersets behave in such a way that VEATs do, where you have access to two different powersets simultaneously when you advance far enough (such as Arachnos Soldier + Bane Spider).

I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement though, or what effects it could have on MM balance, but having options for what your attack powers are would be a welcome addition.

Honestly, if CoH was to undergo a total revamp, I wouldn't mind this being a feature across multiple Archetypes, expanding on the customisation of your powersets and character themes.

I would totally support a revamp for all Archetypes which is a Primary Set, a Secondary Set, and a Tertiary Set.  Then you could have "Mastermind Henchpets/Support/Blast" for example.

Alas, -that- particular dream may be beyond our reach for a long, long time.

But . . . yeah.  I may never want to take a Blast on any of my Masterminds personally, but I wholly support the opportunity for other players to do so.

Yeah, there's a couple of things on my thoughts that are "I may never be interested in doing this, but somebody else might be and it would enable this other thing I do want to do."

A good compromise would be to ooen up Epic Pools a smidge earlier while doing a big balance pass on them, add a power or two to existing pools, and to add a bunch more pools.  That'd sort of be a Tertiary powerset at that point.

I wouldn't have anything against it, but I know in the past the devs have wanted to keep themes in the game, power flavors are by design, so dark blast for necro, assault rifle for mercs, etc.
