Dispari
I wonder, could we possibly get a version of the /afk command that DOES NOT reply to tells? Something like /afknoreply or whatever. On RP servers especially, people use this slash command to denote when they're typing, so other people around them know. But replying to tells is nearly always useless at best and can be problematic if two people's AFK messages trigger off each other in an infinite loop and cause the people to be muted by the server. I wouldn't ask for an entirely new system just for this sort of "I'm typing" functionality, but this basic change would make it a lot more usable for the purpose people already use it.
GraspingVileTerror
I'm here for it! Even an option for a "..." to animate over our characters whenever the chat bar is active could be very helpful.

GraspingVileTerror
The problem with that, @Nerio72, as @Dispari just explained is that it causes an auto-reply to any Tells that are sent to you. We're looking for a solution to that problem.
Nerio72
Yep, that was to your response,I should have quoted you. I know it doesn't do exactly what you are looking for but it might help a bit.
jkwak
great idea, the autoreply is also the reason why i m not using it on many of my characters and often use it only for characters who have a special way of talking to show it in the afk message Edited July 26, 2021 by jkwak back to the Zukunft @Jkwak
June
Yeah I have a lot of my characters have that message above their head when speaking... maybe if we were give something other to use then afk message that didn't trigger auto tell... or just yeah simple function to turn off auto tells would be nice... another issue is if two players both using the afk message ends up messaging each other because then it might end up going in a loop
Shenanigunner
Yeah, I use the "Pardon me, I'm speaking" AFK bubble, but the clash with tells is up there with a game client crash. Not sure why it was all implemented that way. Can't tells just come in quietly WHILE you're typing/responding? Disable the whole "feature." June
I expect it wasn't really meant to be used as an info bubble in the first place. That it was a bubble meant to tell people you were afk and you could input a message. if someone sent you a tell and might not be able to see your bubble it got sent to you. Say you set youir afk message to "AFK, making dinner" for instance. Would explain to people why you are not answering them. So I think the purpose was always to give people a a heads up that you were not around and you could input an explanation to you absense too. So it probably was intended to be a phone answering machine...
