Kin/Sonic Build Help Please!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

working on my Kin/Sonic defender and enjoying it tremendously! I've done my best here to create a great team build with good soloability (insofar as that's possible!)

I have a wonderful tip to share for any Sonic Blast defenders.

You can put damage procs in Siren's Song and it doesnt break the sleep (due to the 0.25s delay on the sleep application)

I'm looking for general feedback as well as specific feedback on the following:

  • Proposed Incarnates: Nerve, Diamagnetic (100% to-hit, 50% regen), Support, Ageless
  • Damage levels; do you feel like the attacks are slotted in a way that makes sense?
  • Resilience: hardest thing for me to evaluate and balance!

Thank you!

What is your base accuracy and +tohit? I would think you need more accuracy slotted especially for fulcrum shift, siphon speed and transfusion.

I don't mind muling procs and such in combat jumping, but its way overslotted for defense. Defense from combat jump is negligible. If you want the set bonus I would put more defense in grant invis, vengeance or stealth.

I am not a fan of phase shift. If you are low on health, get in position for transfusion. You cannot buff teammates with phase shift running.

If you are stealthing with stealth and the stealth proc in sprint, you will need a teleport target (for friends as well as for tp foe) to bring the team to your position reliably.

I would dump combat jumping, world of confusion and mass hypnosis to pick up teleport target, teleport (or combat teleport) and fold space. You can pile up foes as you like then for bigger fulcrum shifts. You will help the team to kill spawns faster than if you rely on world of confusion and mass hypnosis for mitigation.

Just my two cents worth.

hey it’s my time to shine, a kin/sonic def is one of the two characters i play and have played it a lot over the last 2 years

fold space is fantastic and is a great setup for a meaty fulcrum shift if things are spread out

i only use my sonic attacks for their debuff components, screech and howl being the two best (screech long lasting, howl a nice debuff cone). wail a great one too, especially if you land yours just before someone else nukes - softens them up

i took assault as well as manuvers/tactics for low level teaming (every little helps)

recall friend is very useful to have so you can TP a corpse and veng off it. i took soul mastery for power boost, really helps with veng and makes the heal much more powerful. that helps a lot if your team tank is going south as they can be hard to heal

power boost + transference is also quite fun as a powerful end drainer

other than having 2 acc in most kin powers, some heal on trans and rech on FS/siphon power it’s a very flexible character and i wouldn’t worry much at all about slotting the perfect build etc. being a good kin during play is much more important than the build

it’s one you can really just enjoy and slot in the way you find fun, e.g if you’re into procs etc or you enjoy building up a certain attribute

enjoy 🙂

Not a combo i tried on a fender although do have a sonic/kin corr (doesn't matter how often i play fenders i always prefer the corr version regardless of buffs/debuffs scourge just does it for me) and i'm not a fan of teleport pool, squeezing it into builds means leaving out too much good stuff like repel/assault/vengeance/amplify but something like this may work. No fighting pool means its just a little low on numbers defensively and resists wise. Put together with minimal inf in mind so its just the defender AT bits in and a couple pvp pieces. Shockwave is there purely to bump recharge. With the bump to travel powers i find i can get around faster now with fly-evasive-hover-afterburner running than i could with ss+cj and this comes from someone who only used to run those travel powers on every single alt. Now every alt gets fly if i can unless its a pure melee toon. So ghosting to the end of missions isn't a problem with a celerity thrown in sprint. With tp pool there wasn't room for sirens song either:
