Question about how do i get more mobs in the groups

I made a new fire farm and my friend helped me and it all seems to work just fine and it turned out good, except the amount of  mobs in there is alot less then the amount of mobs in hers. I am set at +3 x8 for both of them and hers has about 19-20 in each group which is a fine amount, but mine only has between 10-14 which seems too small. She does have an elite boss in hers, but I didn't really want one in mine. Is there a way to get bigger groups of mobs in mine? How do I get the bigger mobs? This was my first AE mission that I created, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you. The name of my fire farm is called Party Crashers and my friends fire farm is called Kill the Cheerleaders, Save the World.

Hey there, Gloryous1!

 

First of all, well done on making your first map. That's not an easy task and I think you did a great job!

 

I think your problem lies in the Enemy Group Difficulty setting. This is one of those obscure options in the settings for your Fight A Boss and Free A Captive Mission Goals. When I tested a map using the default option of Easy for these settings, I discovered that my groups were underpopulated. When I switched the Enemy Group Difficulty to Hard, however, the mob count increased within each group with additional LTs and Bosses.

 

Have you maxed out the number of Bosses and Captives you can have on the particular map you chose? If not, that would help further explain the lack of population. Even though the count within each group increased with the difficulty setting, that will not increase the number of groups total on the map. Only the Quantity setting (also found in the options for your Fight A Boss, Free A Captive Mission Goals) can determine that parameter.

 

My suggestions for you are below, and I hope by following them you solve the issue. If not, keep posting and we’ll try to troubleshoot this thing until it’s fixed!

 

- In the Fight A Boss Mission Goal for your custom Boss, Change the Enemy Group Difficulty setting to Hard.

- In the Fight A Boss Mission Goal for your custom Boss, Change the Quantity setting to 32. (This is the maximum allowed in that category for your map)

 

- In the Free A Captive Mission Goal for your custom Captive, Change the Enemy Group Difficulty setting to Hard.

- In the Free A Captive Mission Goal for your custom Captive, Change the Quantity setting to 30. (This is the maximum allowed in that category for your map)

Thanks so much for your help. I had set to hard already. but I needed to change the quantity settings to 32 and 30. That fixed it! Now I have very nice size groups and alot more of them. I appreciate  your help so much! Yay time to farm! Woohoo! Thanks again! 🙂

I've been struggling with this for the past few days and the suggestions @Lektrah Lyte made aren't working, although it's 100% possible user error on my end. I used the Cargo Ship map #5 and tried to replicate the mob sizes of "Big Mobs 'Cargo Ship' (Fire Farm)" by @Patty Wack (arc id 13563). That map allows 26 ambush/boss/patrol and 12 rescue/escort. I've also read the excellent posts on how to get started by @Charlie "Guide to Mission Architect" and @brigg "Advanced Architect Entertainment" but probably missed a tiny detail that's causing my low numbers. I also noticed that the xp I'm getting seems to be exactly half of what I get from @Patty Wack's arc. Here are my settings: 

 

Enemy Group: Empty

Map Type: Cargo Ship Set / Small / Cargo Ship Set - 5

 

Note: I created an enemy group called Mafia di Fuoco which contains 3 bosses, 4 lts, and 5 minions (all w/ various fire powers that add up to 100% xp).

 

Mission Goals

Collection: click a glowie (required)

Release Captive: 12 individual captives based on custom characters. These characters are not affiliated with the Mafia di Fuoco group.

      Quantiy: 1 (12 times)

      Enemy Group: custom group Mafia di Fuoco

      Captive Placement: Any

      Enemy Group Difficulty: hard

      Surrounding Group Alignment: Enemy

Boss: a boss from Mafia di Fuoco

      Quantity: 26

      Alignment: Enemy

      Boss Placement: Any

      Enemy Group Difficulty: Hard

      Enemy Group: Mafia di Fuoco

How many critters per mob were you experiencing?  Were you set to team size x8?  There is a max limit to mob size, which is 16 unless you have an AV/EB boss and then it's 17.  Some maps have spawn points near one another and at Team size x8, it can look like one huge massive group, but it's actually 2 or 3.  

 

May also try setting Mission Enemy Group from "Empty" to:  Custom, Mafia di Fuoco.

Thanks for replying Frozen Burn. I'm always running the missions at size x8. I just went in under edit mode to snoop around w/o getting attacked.

 

CAPTIVES

All 12 unique captives are guarded by 11 baddies: 3 boss, 3 lts, 5 min

BOSSES

Looks like they're only in groups of 12. Sometimes the group is really spread out - almost like a line instead of bunched up.

I'll try setting the overall mission enemy group to my custom group but I don't see how that would affect it.

Can someone post screen shots of where the difficulty settings are and how many patrols like Briggs asteroid map.  I only get 16 which seems less than on a Brigg, groups not as big and there is another map under a player with Twisted Visage who is a different one, highly aggressive who run at you after triggering the click, spawn destroy objects, then attack you and there are a lot of them.

I never really paid any attention to how many were in a group, as I never really cared - the area looks full, so it looked fine to me!  🙂  But I decided to take a look at a couple of my arcs - both with custom mobs and and without. 

 

It seems spawn size is dependent on the map.  A few of my missions, the spawns would be 10-11 (tunnel & Arachnos maps), others would be 11-13, and I had one (the Malta Warburg base) where spawn sizes were 19.  Also the burning forest map had spawn sizes mostly of 11-12, but an AV group had 19 (incl the AV).  

 

All also had varying 1-3 bosses, 2-4 LTs, with remaining minions - including my custom groups.  

 

Patrols seem to spawn 1-2 mobs less per group than the standing spawns.  

 

So if you want more mobs per spawn, I guess you have to find the right map!

Difficulty is really dependent on the team size and player's setting (+Level x Team Size, if >actual team size).  There is a setting for bosses and such where you can increase the number of LTs or Bosses in that spawn - but it DOES NOT change the level of the boss you are placing (click the "?" and it will tell you all you need to know:

Easy has mostly minions and maybe 1-2 LTs depending on team size, Medium would be normal, and Hard would be more bosses and LTs in the spawn IN ADDITION to the unique boss you are placing there.

 

Otherwise, there really are no other difficulty settings other than the player's.

 

As for The Asteroid map and number of spawns - only 16 total of anything are allowed as shown here....

Brigg has 15 patrols, 1 Rescue Ally, 1 Collection.  Each player has an aggro cap and when you rescue the Ally, it will have it's own aggro but since it is your "teammate," it's damage and XP counts for you.  Brigg also has this Ally cast Phantom Army which also has Taunt and can aggro more at thte same time.  So, unless you have something similar, that may be why you are "feeling" yours isn't as "big" of mobs as Brigg's.

 

As for the other player's (Twisted Visage) map(s), I've never played it, but it sounds like they have an Ambush tied to a Collection - so when the player clicks the glowie, the Ambush spawns and runs at them.  Also, Destructible Objects inherently have an Ambush tied to them without you having to program it in.
