Heya folks! Need a second set of eyes on this. Current build. Am a fan of all the travel powers, but is there anywhere I could get more defense for others thru my shields? Or even a better debuff layout?

 

Current incarns :

Clarion Radical Epihany

Spiritual Core Paragon. Is this over kill? The 45% recharge is nice, but no benefit otherwise.

  • If you want to free up some slots (and aren't married to the LOTG bonuses), you can slot each shield with two lvl 50+5 defense IOs.
  • Unless you're doing it for the set bonuses, I wouldn't bother 6-slotting Frostwork. It's a very situational power and is fine with just the base slot.
  • Add slots to Arctic Fog. I usually slot for damage resistance - you can get 30%+ res to F/C/E. You're also want end red.
  • Sleet isn't worth enhancing for damage and is a poor spot for Defender's Bastion. It's fine with two recharge IOs, or 3-4 slot with a defense debuff set.
  • Not sure why you're splitting the Defender's Bastion set. The 3-slot bonus isn't good and you're missing out on substantial defense and recharge bonuses for 6-slotting.
  • 3 recharge IOs in Heat Loss is too many - you're over the ED max. 
  • Power Boost doesn't boost the defense in your shields - they're flagged to ignore external boosts. 

You want Agility Core for your Alpha. Boosts endmod, recharge and defense.

Just wanted to address some of these for anyone later looking for a build. And will deff add a new build with some minor revisions 🙂

 

  • If you want to free up some slots (and aren't married to the LOTG bonuses), you can slot each shield with two lvl 50+5 defense IOs.

The LOTG set bonuses arent necessary, but having dbl S&L and MEZ bonuses is nice. Im able to sit at +61% S&L res

 

Is it worth adding the 2 +5 def IOS to only go from 24.47% to 25.55%?    and     26.62% to 27.70% with incarn Agility.

There is an extra 8.75% recharge in that set. I mostly use Frostwork for trial tanks anyways +1207.50 max hp is very nice to have. 🙂

Great idea with Artic Fog. That would boost F& C to 61+% and E 28% as is.  Atleast a few extra res procs.

I know there are issues with rains and procs not working "as they should" and can deff revisit the Defender's Basion. Adding some extra -def in there would be better than the extra 10% range.

Since its a 10% recharge bonus, I already have 5 with the 3 purps and 2 other def ATOs. The extra one wont really count anyways. And unless im going to proc out a sonic attack, not much use there.

Deff need to take out the 3rd one. But the extra -4 sec!

Found this out last night, super disappointing.

 

You want Agility Core for your Alpha. Boosts endmod, recharge and defense.

hey - nice defender, i’m working on the polar opposite at the moment, a thermal/sonic def

 

consider seeing whether you can live with just having super speed / hasten / tp target so you can pickup spirit ward. i’ve found it to be a great help when placed on a target that takes a lot of aggro. as your shields will add a nice amount of defence, the +absorb buffer will build up nicely

 

some other thoughts:

 

- infrigidate: slot a good amount of accuracy in this if you’re keen to use it before sleet is available. will need to break down any initial defences for it to hit otherwise

- same with benumb, if it misses you’re waiting a long time to try again

- i’ve never bothered 6 slotting LoTG, i’d simply carry a break free instead

- 6 slotting defenders bastion is worth doing

- pickup vengeance, when slotted well it changes the outcome of a difficult battle and can be the difference between team wipe and survival. some +def and +tohit makes a good difference

Not sure what you're talking about. The 5th and 6th slots of LoTG provide S/L and Tx/Psi damage resistance, plus some mezz resistance (reduces mezz duration). There is no set bonus from any set that provides mezz protection.

rather than 6 slot LoTG for the mez protection set bonus i'd instead carry some break free inspirations is what i mean, using the freed up slots elsewhere in the build

Read my prior post. LoTG doesn't give you mezz protection as a set bonus.

looks like there were some changes in issue 24 for LoTG to provide a set bonus to help with status protection

i personally wouldn't bother with it though, i find being held etc on a defender is often infrequent and not worth spending the slots on

Tox/psi resist in IO sets generally comes with mez resist as well.

 

The damage resistance is certainly a worthy bonus in many builds. I don't think anyone is shooting for the mez resist element - it's just a little bonus.

You're confusing mezz resistance with mezz protection. Resistance shortens the duration. Protection prevents the effect from happening. The set bonus is the former, not the latter.
