TW/Fire critique and questions

So I'm playing with a friend of mine that had a 50 on live before IOs were normalized and hasn't yet reached 50 on Homecoming.  We just got his TW/Fire Brute into the 40s and I want to gift him a build that will help make life easier for that character.  He gets a lot of aggro due to brute's high threat level, puchvoke, and the large amounts of AE TW and Fire bring.  So I made this build with the hopes that it would allow him to more easily survive that aggro.

Here's the pre-incarnate, non-purple build I have so far:

I've never ran this powerset combination before, so I don't know if those picks will make for a good attack chain or if any of the other powers would work out.  Should I be focusing more on resist instead of defense?  Without any DDR I feel like that could be a problem, but I'm hoping that Defensive Sweep is enough to keep that in check.  I also worry that endurance is going to be a huge issue.  Maybe Consume should be slotted out instead of Healing Flames?  I figure having a large heal on a fast recharge is one of the best ways of dealing with the soft spots in the build's defenses.

Honestly Blazing Aura could be dropped.  It takes a ton of endurance to run, does light damage, and it's most important feature is being a taunt aura.  I feel like the rest of the build pretty much covers those things already.  Dropping that along with Tactics and Vengeance also would allow getting Melt Armor or something else at the loss of a bit of recharge.  I tried to keep the recharge as high as possible so that it'll be easier to keep momentum going and so that Build Momentum is available as often as possible.

This build is made for normal play, but the power combination seems like it would work well for farming as well.  Is there any easy way of raising the fire defense without sacrificing too much?  Being able to run a fire farm would help him generate the funds to kit out his alts.

Ok, so I've played Fire armor and I've played TW.  Never together.  I'm not sure how optimal my chain is, but I take crushing blow and slot it out.  It's what I use for my momentum starter on single target.  You could just use Titan Sweep, but you're definitely giving up some efficiency in ST scenarios.

Your aoe chain should flow fine as is.  That said I can't imagine skipping burn, its literally THE reason to go fire armor.  Also, don't under estimate blazing aura damage.  It looks small but it's always going without taking animation time.  It adds up a lot and it should be slotted for at least some damage, it could mule an entire 6 piece if needed.

So, where to get slots for Burn and Blazing?  You're way over slotting Weave and Maneuvers.  Red fortune doesn't bring much.  Drop Impervious Skin unique, it's garbage.  Drop the Impervium armors and the Aegis.  Your psi resist is bad anyway, I don't think you should chase it.  I'd probably try to get another 4 piece Unbreakable into Plasma Armor, along with the two piece Steadfast. Then move the Gladiator unique to another armor.  You can drop a slot from Tough as well since we only need 4 piece Unbreakable.

To expound on this, I don't really think it's worth building to try and close holes in Brute armor sets.  With 20-30% resist you still don't want to stand around and tank a bunch of psi damage.  Just kill it first.  With tankers it's a lot different.  You have better numbers to start with and a 21% resist ATO, so the holes are smaller and they shore up easier.

As far as Resist vs Defense?  I don't know, but once you can afford purple sets you probably don't have to choose.  You have no DDR, so the small buffer from defensive sweep won't mean anything in a cascade failure situation.  15% more S/L would go a long way in those scenarios, but being melee soft-capped is probably a lot better in the large majority of situations.

As far as endurance I'd probably be dropping vengeance, tactics, and both travel powers to try and get to Physical Perfection in Energy Mastery.  Three of your thirstiest attacks are running Oblit6 which is really low on End Redux, it could be rough.

I appreciate the help with this.  I've updated the build to include and slot out Burn and Blazing Aura, swapped Titan Sweep with Crushing Blow, and went into Energy Mastery to help with the endurance:

This gets S/L softcapped as well now.  I kept Super Speed since Physical Perfection didn't require two picks.  It's pretty handy to have a stealth for speedy mishes.

Once he's able to use purples there should be more room for damage procs as well.

Mids seems to be weird when calculating endurance when it comes to Performance Shifters.  Is it better to have Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection slotted with the proc, or would a simple endurance IO be better?  That could free up a slot if it's the latter.

I've got a TW/Fire; I opted for high melee defense out of the box to go along with the capped S/L/F.    Standing still, it's got ~48 melee def and it regularly gets pumped over 100 via Defensive Sweep, not for any practical reason other than to frustrate +4s.  In any event, slotted as such I don't *need* Ageless but I like having it around.  I've kind of slacked off running my TW stuff since the changes; not because TW is bad now, just that after so much time running the old TW, it doesn't feel right.  It's still a perfectly viable set as-is.

The problem you're going to have with your new build is Accuracy.  Some of your main attacks are sitting at like 76% against +3.

Roleki's build is quite good and really not very expensive.  If you can afford the Superior ATOs I'd just steal it as is (swap travel powers if you want).  Otherwise at least use it as a starting point and swap out the ATOs until they're affordable.
