Kumate Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 With the Earth changes, I feel I can make a non-granite tank that fits my needs as there is protection against pretty much everything. But I can't lock down my secondary. I like Ice melee for the DPS/damage type/ and lots of control built in. But I also love staff for the speed and feel of it but also I believe it is good dps as well with some minor control. I've also heard to go radiation melee. Can someone who knows...with all the IO procs and such that I am not familiar with, which set has the most DPS potential? Something as simple as first, second, third. But I also want to know if there is a large gap between 1 and 2 etc. I am not really interested in any other set outside of Fire. Also is there a list anywhere of the defensive/resist potential of each tanker? Its so hard to determine what tank set when I dont know the potential of each type of tank in defensive terms Thanks
Onlyasandwich Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Here's one vote for Ice Melee, though all of these will be great. Ice has strong aoe between Frost and Frozen Aura. Single target has good burst, but will rely on an epic attack for good sustained ST. Very good extra mitigation in Ice Patch of course. Rad Melee will still do more aoe damage as long as irradated ground is a broken power with procs - it is really strong, though only because of its unusual behavior with regard to the summoned pets and procs. The set otherwise is still good, and adds some healing, though less mitigation from the secondary here. Staff is whirly twirly fun, but from the straight numbers inferior to both of the above. Overall, Rad has the most DPS potential of these with a couple caveats: Irradiated ground is a super weird proc outlier, and likely to be patched to normalcy at some point. Rad's better DPA single target attacks take a long time to animate, which can lead to hitting corpses. Theme rules all here though - just pick the one that sounds the most fun for your concept. : ) I'll copy below my own Stone/Ice for reference. This is a build geared towards shoring up E/N and Psi resist where possible while still devoting a lot of attention to maximizing damage. ninja surprise Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Why not Savage for the fun TP attack? Or Stone Melee is also fast with lots of BOOM and control with knockdowns and stuns. It's one of my favorite secondaries.
Without_Pause Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Just going off in my head I would say for total damage I would rank them Rad, Ice, and then Staff which I honestly won't label as good damage. The only reason I don't roll a Stone/ice is I have the Brute version which I soloed red side 1-50. See below. I HAVE thought about it though since yeah, that thing would be a beast, and the conversion would be easy. I normally leveled at +1/x8 from whatever level I switched from smaller mobs. I did +1/x4 for some time before that. I popped in and did Council at +4/x8 at level 48. I honestly didn't even need Ice Patch. I so don't recommend doing the same as that was boring as hell. To be different, my lean would be Stone/wm if I went Tank. I added in the Incarnates I am aiming for and it makes the numbers look a bit better, so switch those off if you like. They are essentially in case I need them depending on the mob because again, I soloed +4/x8 Council at 48. My current build is Vet level 7 so I'll know more as I get everything T4ed.
