My Firstish Build -SS/WP/Mu Brute-

BLUF: I'd like some feedback on my brute build if anyone would be so amazing. ^.^

Hey, long time no see. I lost my original build from live, and things have changed enough as is, so I decided to make a new build for my main. I don't know what attuned enhancements are, and I haven't been playing enough again lately to really understand everything as well as I used to, but my goal with this build was to be generally all around pretty good and fun as hecc to play. I recall being able to survive a Ghost Widow hold in STF and Recluse Victory, tank Reichsman pre-nerf, and a lot of other ludicrous things. I also used to run the weekly Mothership Monday Madness raids every Monday at 5pm CST on Virtue for several years straight. I'm the big pink barbie, if anyone remembers. Anyway...

Defenses

Smashing/Lethal: 34.13%

Fire/Cold: 40.77%

Energy/Negative: 30.77%

(Psi 25.07%)(AoE 20.18%)

(Melee 30.18%)(Ranged 15.18%)

Resistances

Smashing/Lethal: 89.29%

Fire/Cold: 61.15%

Energy/Negative: 51.4%

Toxic: 30.4%

Psionic: 54.22%

683.24% Regen / 2.29e/s Surplus

226.25% Haste

38.89% ToHit

192% Damage without fury

Something reduced my threat level, not sure what but not sure if that's a bad thing. I am not aiming to replace a tank, as such I didn't take Taunt. I'm just a really tanky scrapper?

I don't remember what my build was "worth" back in Live, especially in relation to how weird the prices are at the auction house in Homecoming, but it was in the dozens of billions. I'm estimating this one to cost a few hundred million at the very least, and monei isn't a problem. I can't afford absolutely anything, but the goal of this build is to be my target for dumping all my monei into. I've got a pair of fire farmers who make infamy at a pretty good clip so I should be able to afford the full thing by Christmas... I hope.

My main is a WP tank. If I were you, I'd try to fit in the Impervious Skin: Status Resistance/Regen. That alone will give you an extra 25% to your Regeneration rate. Also, the  Unbreakable Guard: +Max HP greatly benefits WP also. You could drop Stamina down to just 2 slots (I have Power Transfer: Chance to Heal Self and Power Transfer:End in mine). This will give you a chance to heal some of your hit points, plus give you +6 % to your regen rate).

Strength of Will only had a duration of 120 seconds, and recharges in 300 seconds. I did not take it on my Tank. You could mule it and put the Unbreakable Guard: +Max HP and the Impervious Skin: Status Resistance/ Regeneration in it.

Soul Mastery works well with WP. Have you thought about taking it instead of Mu? Gloom is a solid attack, and when things get rough, you could drop Darkest Night on a target. If you  slotted it with 3 pieces of Dark Watcher's Depair, that'd give you an extra 22.29 HP, +2.5% End Recovery, and debuff the enemies' damage by 21% and their To Hit by -15.95% ( which would really help WP out).

Just a few things I saw at first glance. On my tank, I focused on Max HP, Regen, Defenses. Off the top of my head, I believe he has soft capped Defenses to F/C/E/NG, close to capped S/L resists, and a fully saturated RttC gets my Regen rate up to 205 HP/Sec. WP definitely benefits from the accolades that give +Health.

The slotting bothered me in place where multiple sets are used to get 2 piece bonuses (e.g. High Pain Tolerance, Fast Healing) but losing out on the extra bonuses which might have been had by staying within set (four slots for two bonuses in two sets versus three bonuses in three sets). So I decided to give a whirl at how I might go about things.

I typically toggle off Hasten if it is not perma when evaluating a build and toggled off Strength of Will given its negative side effect when the power ends. So that is why the comparison numbers for your build may look different from what you had set.

SSWPcomp.jpg.6989395d128fa5578425577a0b5c7551.jpg

  • S/L Defense is comparable but Melee Defense on my build is higher. So people shooting at you will have no real difference in hitting you, people punching you will. E/N Defense is improved but nothing else meaningfully changes.
  • S/L Resistance is higher. I also slotted Reactive Defense: Scaling Resistance so all resistance will scale up as you lose health. E/N resistance is a bit lower but keep in mind higher E/N Defense. F/C resistance is meaninglessly and T/P is basically the same.
  • You generate 0.59 end/s less with my build but you also consume 0.79 end/s less (both with Tactics running) so in reality you're up 0.2 end/s for spending purposes.
  • Global Recharge is boosted to 76.25% from 56.25%
  • Regen is lower by about 52 hp/s
  • +To-Hit (from Tactics) is lower by 3.64%

There are three slots leftover in what is posted below. You could get To-Hit back to the same value (though if you're using Rage I am not sure Tactics is really necessary) or you could expand the Recovery gap.

Should probably note, I tried to stay with your power choices in my offered build above. I think I would pick up at least another melee attack (Cross Punch) because other than Punch and Haymaker it looks like you would otherwise be waiting for an attack to cycle.

Thank you all very much!

I will definitely take this into consideration. Having not played for very many years has really blunted my remembery. I feel like this is as close to my original power choices as I can recall, and my haste used to be up at all times and frequently stacked so I don't believe I ever had trouble with attacking. My primary role in CoH was mothership raid leader so attacking was less important than herding cats, but I will definitely most likely make tweaks to this build over time as I get it slotted. My brute may be level 50 but she's mostly unslotted and has only a few level 30 IOs... Gotta get some monei saved up first once my fire brutes are self sufficient.

Impervious Skin: Status Resistance/Regen sounds amazing, how did I miss that. I thought I had unbreakable guard too but I may have removed it without realizing. I will consider these things carefully, thank you!

Originally I had soul mastery primarily because I loved Ghost Widow, but eventually I switched to Mu Mastery for the endurance drain on enemies, I had it slotted out so that I was essentially a smol-sapper and it helped deal with the miscreants in Recluse Victory when they wanted to disrupt our raids. Those were so much fun, trying to convince a whole bunch of heroes and villains to work together in a pvp zone, woo.

Thanks again!
