Beam Rifle or Dark for a Forcefield Secondary

The profile basically says it all. I'm building this toon to help with the uktra-hard mode ITF. I'm just kt sure if Dark is overkill in this case or is Beam rifle is the perfect compliment.

 

Thoughts?

dark seems a helpful compliment, especially if slotted for -acc

Do you think -To Hit sets need to be slotted in it or is the inherent -To Hit a sufficient compliment?

i’m a neanderthal and my opinions shouldn’t be listened by anyone, however i do like playing into the theme of a set if it’s on a defender. i wouldn’t slot too much -to hit but would be interested in enhancing it

 

saying that, you may find you can proc it nicely and have reasonable damage. i’m about to log onto the comp to see what a nature/dark def looks like in mids, will give a more informed answer soon..

I'd prefer Dark Blast for the heal and Acc debuffs, but would not bother slotting to improve the -Acc. Instead 4-slot Thunderstruck (or other set) each attack and then 2 damage procs each, for example.
