Captain Fabulous
Wanting to do this fairly on the cheap, so super expensive IO sets are not an option. Primary goal is to get Permadom, and with 80% global recharge + Hasten I should be OK. Secondary goal was to stuff in as much defense as possible (ranges from 19.4-35% based on damage/positonal type). Open to any reasonably-priced suggestions to make this any better if possible. Thanks. This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! serxiom
Hello! Just checked your build and there is room for improvements. As you said you want to keep it cheap and thats what i worked for as well. I didnt take any powers you didnt pick just to conserve your preferences. Personally i would take Psy Mastery or Ice Mastery, but thats up to you. My take on your build has 1- +16 rech than yours 2- 44.5% ranged def so is softcapped 3 - Dropped Overwhelming force which is expensive in favor to place a Controller ATO so you may be close to your same budget 4- Moved slots from hasten (just need 2 no need for 3 there) and 3rd slots from Weave, Maneuvers, hover that only provided 0.3-0.5 + def in favor to add more slots in powers that can give you 3.25 def As an advice Doms required a lot of inf investment but really worth it at end game. So maybe you change your mind later and go for a max ideal build. Here you go. Captain Fabulous
Thanks. Just out of curiosity, what does your max build look like (without changing any sets)? OOF that Dominator set is expensive. 12 million each. Yikes. Edited January 11, 2023 by Captain Fabulous

Get the non-upgraded variants and they're only ~8 million each if you have 6 Enhancement Catalysts around to flip them into purples. You could even just postpone getting the upgrades until you're ready. Note: The set bonuses break between the two types so go none or all-in in most cases. Might even be able to find the recipes for less. I have a ton of salvage and likely have all the mats to craft them. Thanks, I forgot all about the catalysts. A max build will require to change sets. Just to clarify, a max build for me is a build that let you solo +4 x 8, stand toe by toe in any incarnate trial/tf or against any GMs. So balance between +def and dps is a must. Also some resistance will be required for any attacks that bypass your softcap. I pick Psionic Mastery over Ice Mastery because it grants me better survavility with Link Minds for incarnate content. With all the elements i described above my max build for your combo will be somehing like this: This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! You aren't getting many bites, because budget builds are a lost art - there's so much money floating around these days. Also, even with a budget build, most people want to upgrade to better IO's eventually, so you end up spending more in total anyway. I recommend looking into farming or marketing; solving the money issue will allow you to freely and fully focus on constructing an epic build. Taking fire as an epic without taking a significant performance hit is not going to be easy, because so much of the power of doms is locked up in their epics. There are 3 commonly picked ones: Psi: the defensive option, with a res shield and mind link (equivalent to a 2nd weave). This is most commonly recommended for newbie doms because it is very hard to screw up. Well-designed psi doms can come close to permanently incarnate-capping 2 or 3 vectors of defense. Soul: the middle ground option, with a res shield, soul drain and dark oblit (fireball clone). Note however that the soul drain has only around 50% uptime even at permahasten levels of rech. Ice: the offensive option, with a typed def shield instead of a res one, sleet and ice storm. Note that the sleet is bugged and uses fender values, making it far stronger than fire's melt armor. Sleet on top of dominator damage numbers absolutely shreds stuff, but the lack of a res shield to back up your defense makes this a more skill-based build than the others. So I would ask what your reasons are for picking fire. If it is for theme and fireball, soul's dark attacks are easily refluffed as ash, and dark oblit is a fireball clone. You can respec out of epics at any time, so I encourage you to try out different ones, especially the Big Three above. You can respec out of epics at any time, so I encourage you to try out different ones, especially the Big Three above. Speccing out of fire isn't going to happen, it's wholly thematic. Honestly I think any loss is negligible. Link minds isn't a huge defense buff (4.25%) , and Psi doesn't have any big hitting AoEs. Ice gives you a nice chunk of defense, but only S/L. Sleet & Ice Storm are good powers, but they have long recharges vs. Fire Ball and Rain of Fire. IMO it's a wash, and I don't necessarily need to be godly at the expense of theme. In terms of cost, I guess it depends upon what one considers "cheap". I'm looking to spend around 100m INF. I can further cut costs by purchasing recipes and crafting them myself and/or using upgraders. So if you have a Fire/Psi/XXX Dom build that's pretty good, regardless of cost, I'd appreciate seeing it.
Zect
I definitely respect taking a performance hit in exchange for theme; it's an easy game and there is nothing tuned tightly enough that it requires every ounce of power. Personally, I do not post builds - I view it as unsporting, since it would deprive you the pleasure and opportunity of learning build design yourself. But as an basic example, I will tell you that my fire/psi/ice has 45% def to all types except psi and permahasten, plus high damage ST chains at both ranged and melee. There are some innovative builds out there, so I would encourage you to look at builds by people who have demonstrated excellence at the game; even if the powersets are different, you should be able to discern the logic behind their build design choices and apply it to your own circumstances.
