Question/Suggestion: AI Upscale

Are we at the point where AI could upscale and enhance all of the game's textures and assets?

A quick google suggests the tech is available, how expensive and how practical for COH/COV I dont know. Providing the engine can handle it I would like to have 4k textures available with the added detail and clarity.

If this is something that is practical/possible I am happy to provide cpu/gpu time to the project.

I think they said it would take the game from 6gb to over 20gb and they didnt want to force that amount on players when many of them wouldnt even be able to run the textures.  I am curious if it can be done as a mod made by players, though.  There are several textures i would upscale just for my own client if i knew the process.

There is also the bit about the loss of texture patterns from AI upscaling. If I remember correctly, the devs posted a comparison pic of a steel floor as is and with the AI "improvement". The floor pattern that made it look like textured steel disappeared rendering the piece an almost uniform in appearance. I believe the devs said pretty much all the existing textures would have to be replaced with new textures that would be compatible with the "upgrade" to work.
