Keith Giffen (November 30, 1952 – October 9, 2023)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Giffen

My exposure to Keith Giffen's work was on the Legion of Super-Heroes as I was a long time LSH fan.

I was a fan of the LSH before he worked on the series and long after.

As the wiki says: "Giffen is best known for his long runs illustrating and later writing the Legion of Super-Heroes title in the 1980s and 1990s. Giffen and writer Paul Levitz crafted "The Great Darkness Saga" in Legion of Super-Heroes vol. 2, #290–294 in 1982.[6] In August 1984, a third volume of the Legion of Super-Heroes series was launched by Levitz and Giffen.[7] Giffen plotted and pencilled the fourth volume of the Legion which began in November 1989.[8]"

I can't say he was my favorite LSH artist. I remember he was famed for his page after page of 9 panels per page.

I'm pretty sure that this is an example of that, but I haven't gone back through my collection to make sure this was him.

I don't think any other LSH artist stuck to this pattern so much.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I really figured more people would respond to this with all the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Beetle_(Jaime_Reyes) hype going on.

I'm still gutted by his death. His co-run on the Justice League was released just as I was getting into comic books, and were just so ridiculously funny, nothing has topped it for comic book humour since, for me at least.

There's an excellent retrospective in Comics Journal here as well, really well written.

His and JMD's run on Justice League was epic. Way to redeem a book that had fallen as far as it had!

("Justice League Detroit?" What were they thinking?!")

But games? He used to pay his bills with games. (He's recovering well, thanks for asking!)
