On a separate note, I'm currently reading the novelizations of the recent three specials. They are a little on the light side, but they do add some interesting back story for a couple of the characters and really do help flesh out Donna's mum character!

As a lifelong Whovian, I loved them all. 🙂 I'm especially enjoying the hate and nerd rage going on in the usual places! It felt almost like RTD was just thinking of ways to troll the trolls at times! LOL I also liked that RTD didn't just handwave away all the stuff that happened in Whittaker's era, the Timeless Child, The Flux, etc. I like that he actually dealt with the trauma of it all. Plus, it annoys the trolls out there, which is always fun! Looking forward to the Xmas episode, and loving that it's back, properly, at last!

Marvel opening figures have been getting steadily worse since Endgame with only a couple having big numbers. IMHO, I think it's partially because of how quickly the movies appear on Disney+, some of them are within a month or two, so no real urgency to see them at the cinema, especially with spiralling cinema costs. Seeing the Marvels, with just myself going and buying a large drink an a small Ben and Jerrys ice cream cost me over £25. It's just not worth it for a lot of movies now.

I saw it, really enjoyed it. Another fun movie, all I ask for it 🙂

I'm still gutted by his death. His co-run on the Justice League was released just as I was getting into comic books, and were just so ridiculously funny, nothing has topped it for comic book humour since, for me at least. There's an excellent retrospective in Comics Journal here as well, really well written.

By now, I'm assuming everyone knows about the official creation of The Whoniverse on BBC iPlayer? (Not sure how much of it will appear on Disney+, I'm going to assume all of it!) For those not in the know, the BBC has put (as of November 1st) almost every episode of Doctor Who and all the shows connected to it, i.e. Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, Class, Doctor Who Confidential, K9 and Company and the new first spin-off announced today, Tales From The Tardis, not to mention a massive text database filled with info about the shows. Way too much to go into here, I'll link it here for people to read. Fantastic news for people in the UK, and, presumably, for all the fans who have Disney+, once we know for definite what's going on. Plus, we have dates for the new episodes as well, first one is Saturday 25th November, with the other two following on the next two Saturdays. One bad part of the Whoniverse that isn't the BBC's fault (sort of) is that all the classic episodes will be missing An Unearthly Child, the original 4 part story that started it all off back in 1963, due to the complete asshat who now owns the rights to those stories after his father passed away refusing to let the BBC use them. Again, lots of details, so I'll link that here as well Now, I'm all for the creators getting their due and the rights they have, but this guy is being an obnoxious, racist, homophobic pillock who has thrown a tantrum after the Doctor became a woman and then a queer black man and his twitter feed is all kinds of batshit crazy, so, sadly, it's not available to watch on TV. Time to dig out those old DVD's, people! Either way, the fact well over 800 episodes of all the different series will be available is amazing news for those who want to delve into the incredible history of the show 😄 EDIT: Just found out online, apparently the Tales of the Tardis series is exclusive to iPlayer, so sorry, y'all, you'll have to find it through your favourite Jolly Roger methods 😉 The reasoning behind makes sense though. Seems the series was paid entirely by the BBC, with none of the Disney money going towards it, hence it being UK only. I'm pretty sure it will end up on Disney at some point though.

Erm, not that I noticed. It's possible, but it's a fast paced movie a lot of the time, so might have blinked and missed him! 😄

Just got back from seeing this and, as a lifelong DC fan, I loved it. It's not perfect, but it's bloody good fun, really heartful and pays plenty of homage to DC's past as well. Definitely worth going to see to show DC this is the sort of movie they need to be making. Also, mid and end credit scenes

I don't care what anyone says, I'm really looking forward to this. I loved the first one, loved Wandavision and LOVED Ms Marvel, so this ticks all the boxes for me!

Bah, I got that wrong, yeah, I meant the JL movie, both versions. Hated them both. And yes, he still has that stupid ice skater running effect, like he's running in slow motion but moving at super speed. Looks absolutely ridiculous. I mean, the super fast running of the CW looked a little weird, but at least it made more sense. Ands he STILL does that annoying pose before he starts running!! I mean, wtf? John Wesley Shipp, I did enjoy back in the day, but was held back by poor special effects, like all those kinds of shows did at the time, but he was pretty decent. He was based more on the Barry Allen of the 80's/90's though, you know, when he was dead and Wally was the Flash, 😄 Still enjoyed his performance and loved seeing him come back in the CW in various forms as well 🙂 TBF, no adaptation of a character will ever be as perfect as what you have in your head, but the CW got closest for me. They played up the CSI/Police Scientist thing more, at least in the early days before it descended into the usual CW Romance sinkhole they all got into, but he was the closest I've seen yet. The CW did work the Flash Family/Legacy aspect a bit more as well, that's something I've enjoyed in the comics. The cameos and crossovers made more sense as well, unlike the random ones in the movie that just feel shoehorned in for the sake of it.

I went to see it yesterday on release. Disclaimer: I'm a lifelong Flash fan, all the different iterations, I know the character very well and he's my all-time favourite superhero, so this may cloud my opinion and judgement somewhat, in the same way that not being overly well versed in the Marvel stuff allows me to enjoy it more because I have no pre-conceptions or anything. I found it....unfulfilling. There's a lot of good to it, Michael Keaton is fantastic and steals the screen every time he's on there and Sasha Calle is excellent as well, it's something of a shame we may never see her as Supergirl again if they do go the road of full reboot. But Miller, is just.....not Barry Allen. He was a little better than he was in the dreadful Flash Bah, I meant Justice League movie, but still, not good. He doesn't ever feel like Barry Allen to me. Grant Gustin was never quite perfect either, but he was way way better than Miller. As for the film, without spoilers, it's fun for a lot of it, with an excellent opening sequence, but the ending was woeful. The CGI at times, was very crappy, although that's par for the course in DC and Marvel recently (*I don't understand how CGI from Jurassic Park 30 years ago is still so much better than some of this??) There's a key scene later in the movie that I found very unsatisfying, so spoiler tag time So, yeah, go see it if you want to, as far as I'm concerned, my money went to Keaton and no one else.

If you go by the DC history, the original, Dan Garrett, found the scarab and got magical mystical super-powers that he used to fight crime. The scarab then went to Ted Kord, who got from it.....absolutely nothing 😄 He did go on to be inspired by the original Blue Beetle and became a costumed hero himself, basically a more fun version of Batman, not as good at fighting but arguably better as a scientist, inventing the famous Bug and his own weaponry. He grew in popularity from the original Crisis, mostly from his run as a member of the hilarious Justice League International where he became part of the famous Blue and Gold duo with Booster Gold. Cue much wacky, zany comedy antics. He was always a popular b-lister in the DC Universe, eventually being killed by Maxwell Lord during another Crisis (the Infinite one, this time) The scarab then ended up with Jaime Reyes who unlocked it's real identity and became the version that is most well known from Young Justice and Batman: Brave and the Bold and that's the version we look like we are getting in the movie. I've always been a fan of all of the Blue Beetles, but he's never been a major hit in any incarnation, but I am looking forward to this movie, partly because the casting for Jaime is excellent, especially after the excellent Cobra Kai 🙂

I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the excellent Femme Fatales book by our own John Ford. After writing two of his own novels (The excellent Songbird series) he wrote a book that is basically City of Heroes without any of the COH IP in it at all, and it's great fun. I am slightly biased in that he used the actual characters created many of the people who played our beloved game, including my own main, Coin, 🙂 It's out on Kindle dead cheap as well, for those who want to read it, as well as on paperback and hardback for the luddite dead-tree-edition lovers out there 😉 https://mybook.to/TheScorchedSky And, while you are at it, check out his songbird series as well 😉

Not better than it has a right to be, but waaay better than I was expecting. Everything Everywhere All At Once. I'd somehow missed most of the hype in advance of it, never saw it at the cinema, watched it at home having heard it was apparently pretty decent and.....DAMN! Such an amazing film. Also, The Martian. I'd read the book and loved it, but, with almost every movie adaptation, wasn't expecting much, but it's one of the most faithful adaptations that I've seen. Polar opposite of Ready Player One.....which I also loved both the book and the movie 😄

We lose famous people all the time, recently seems to be a spate of big names going, but every so often one comes up that really, really hurts. Kevin Conroy was my Batman. That TV series cemented my love for the character and his portrayal was absolutely legendary. So gutted he's gone 😞 Kevin Smith was asked about it recently as well and said it all beautifully. Goodbye Kevin Conroy, and thank you.
